Ziana’s POV
Tm telling you she will be fine. We were able to pull the excess dark magic from her system. It looks like Alpha Killian’s mark is still there, but it faded. We aren’t sure if it is due to the spell, or him being lost, but we won’t be sure until he comes back. It could be a bit of both.” I hear Esmorelda’s older voice explain. It’s like
she is standing at the end of a long tunnel and I’m stuck. I can hear everything clearly, but can’t see or move
to find her.
And her dark magic from before?” I hear my mother ask.
“There are still traces of it, but very faint. It’s all but gone since she received her wolf.” Esmorelda answers.
Then I feel a warm hand grab mine.
“Oh my sweet girl. You have been through so much. I wish I could have stopped this. I wish I could have seen it. Come back to me honey.” I hear my mom say.
“Ziana, love. We are working on trying to get Killian back. I promise you we will find a way.” I hear Zane say
and my heart hurts.
Aurora whimpers in my chest and that gives me to motivation to try and move. All of my muscles are sore, even when opening my eyes.
I look around the dim room and as my eyes adjust I see Esmorelda at the end of my bed, then Zane and my
mother on both of my sides,
“K. Kil.. ian.” I whisper rasp.
“Careful love.” Zane says, bending down and pecking my dry lips.
“T’ll get the doctor.” Mom says and runs to the door. I wince as I try to sit up, the wounds on my back opening
with the movement. Zane presses a button and it moves the bed to a sitting position.
“H. How..” I begin, but my throat is itchy and hurts when I try to speak.
“It’s been two days, love. I know you’re wondering. If you need to speak, try the mindlink. Your vocal chords
still need time to heal.” Zane says softly, while sitting on the edge of my bed and stoking my hand.
“Two days?” I ask him through the mindlink. I’m relieved to find out that my voice sounds mostly normal, just
weak.
“Yes. Your wolf has been working on overdrive to heal you. They barely fed you so that’s what most of these bags are for. To give you the nutrients Aurora needs to heal.” Zane speaks out loud.
I just barely nod and look towards the door as mom and doctor Katrina walk in.
“Alright Luna. I’m going to check some of your wounds and your vitals. If you’re able to. Can you tell me the last thing you remember?” Doctor Katrina asks and I nod, then look at Zane. He smiles reassuringly as I begin to mindlink him to speak for me so everybody can hear.
“I remember Killian visiting me and telling me that you all were coming back. He was able to heal a bit of my wound with the mate bond. After he left, Reginald came in with Ned, the dark witch. Ned was performing a ritual to get rid of my mate marks. Reginald wouldn’t touch me while I had them and they wouldn’t do away

no matter what he tried. We were mid ritual when the attack started. They stopped and Ned came up with the solution of performing a spell that brings out the worst thing in their abilities if they use them while in the room. Killian transported so he got stuck in the transportation realm. If mom used her sight, she would have been stuck in memories, I would have electrocuted myself, you get the point. I remember you coming in and then everything went dark.” I explain, while Zane repeats everything I say and the others listen to him.
“OH! That’s great dear. Well, not great, but I know just the coven to reach out to. I will be back in a jiffy.” Esmorelda says, then scurries off.
“Killian?” I ask and Zane smiles sadly.
“We will get him back love. We need you to heal up while Elder Esmorelda looks into this new development.” Zane says as doctor Katrina begins to check me over.
An hour later my bandages are all stitched up and I am laying her with Zane still by my side. He told me all
about the attack and what happened.
His dad, Beta Zeke, was injured, but healed yesterday. Kai received a gnarly bite to the shoulder while he was shifted in his wolf form. Warrick was ganged up on, but only had minor wounds. Addie received no injuries,
which doesn’t surprise me.
Then he tells me about mom and how to never get on her or Marie’s bad sides.
“I can tell where you get it from, I was scared of your mother before, but now. Hot damn I’m terrified of her fighting skills and Warrick’s. Of course it makes sense, they’re the King and Queen, but actually seeing it in action is another banana all together. And Marie, she is a hard ass. Very hard to read. I can’t tell if she likes me or is tolerating me because I’m your mate.” Zane drones on and I laugh, causing my body to shutter at the
abrupt motion.
“It takes her a while to warm up to people, she normally doesn’t speak much, unless she likes you. So count it as a win that she was cracking jokes at your expense. That means she likes you.” I say and he smiles.
“I always knew I had a way with people. I’m hard to dislike.” He says and I smile.
“Very.” I add and he chuckles, then brushes his hand over my face to push back some hair. His expression. has turned serious and his golden eyes search mine.
“I was worried sick about you, love. I already knew that I fell hard and fast for you, but losing you was one of the worst things I have experienced. I won’t let that happen again and once we get Killian back you are never leaving either of our sights.” He says. I feel a deep sense of longing for Killian, but also a burst of love spread through my chest at his words.
“I love you, Zane. It hasn’t been long, but I don’t care. You’re my mate and I knew that it would be hard to resist the both of you when I met you. I’m done fighting the mate bond. I am embracing it fully and that means you’re stuck with me now.” I say and he barks out a laugh, then kisses me.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Ziana. I love you too.” He says and moves to hold me. We sat there in
silence, both lost in our thoughts,
Gods I hope Esmorelda gets back soon with some good news.
