“I don’t fucking care. I told you that I didn’t want you crying yourself to sleep anymore and I meant it,” Christian growls, taking me to the rocking chair by the window and holding me against him like I’m someone precious.
I press my face against his chest and let the tears come, knowing he’ll keep me safe.
In the morning, I wake in my bed, my blankets pulled around me, just like always. I get up and dressed, ready for sparring class. I shouldn’t be surprised to see Alpha James and Alpha Benjamin there. They were both instructors at the Academy. But even the council members are here for sparring class.
Alpha James looks excited, like he’s ready to take on the entire pack this morning. When Sebastiana walks up beside me, I lean over to her.
“Is he always like this?” I ask her.
“Always. He’s awesome and he has more energy than I do, which is saying something. His son was number one on the leaderboard before Uncle Dane knocked him down,” she says proudly.
“Then our half–brother knocked them both down when he took the number one spot.
“That’s Alpha Ryan?” I ask.
“Yep,” she says as Alpha James turns and grins at us.
“You’re mine, half–pint,” he says to Sebastiana.

“I’ve gotten better Alpha. And while you’re here, you should give this one a try,” she says, nodding her head at me.
I watch his eyes twinkle, and he turns his excitement on me. “You’re up after the half–pint,” he says, grinning.
“Should I be afraid?” I ask Sebastiana.
“Nah, just make sure you give him a good fight. Take him out if you can and if you can’t, learn everything you can about his fighting style. He and Dad used to take turns teaching the

sparring class until Mom became an instructor. Then the three of them switched out. I’ve learned a lot from the three of them since I got my wolf,” she says.
Rather than find a partner when Christian and Shane start the class, I watch Alpha James spar with Sebastiana.
“He’s very good,” I say to Alpha Sebastian when he steps up beside me. I can see that while he’s maintaining control of the battle, Alpha James also making sure Sebastiana is learning from their time together.
“Yeah, he’s okay. I’m better,” Alpha Sebastian says, and I see Alpha James grin.
“You wish!” Alpha James calls out, taking Sebastiana down in a hold she can’t get out of.
She grunts, tapping out and Alpha James hops up, holding out a hand to help her up.
“You’re getting better, half–pint!” he says, then turns to me, curling his finger at me in a beckoning motion. “Your turn.”
I look at Alpha Sebastian. When I sparred with Sebastiana, he helped me tremendously. He grins at me.
“Wait for his left hand to drop, then take your shot,” he says quietly.
“Until then?” I ask.
“Wear his ass out and stay on your feet,” he says.
I nod and get into position.
Alpha James grins at me, while dancing on his toes. “Ready, young Alpha?”
I feel more than see Christian come up behind me.
“Watch his right hook, Enya,” he says.
“Ready, Alpha,” I say and the very first thing he does is send that right hook at me.
I duck underneath him and send a punch to his kidney.
He grunts and turns around quickly.
“You’re getting slow, old man,” Alpha Sebastian teases him.
