Chapter 1090
“You went ahead and made a decision about me and the Walton Corporation–that’s crossing one of my
lines.”
Daniel ended the call without another word.
He immediately sent HR a notice that the secretary’s termination could be processed.
She wouldn’t be getting much severance either.
After all, she’d been the one to violate his rules.
After hanging up, the secretary sat there in a daze.
She never imagined that just scheduling one appointment would get her dismissed so abruptly.
What had she actually done wrong?
Wasn’t she only doing her job?
Besides, with previous appointments, Daniel had never said a thing.
So why was it different this time?
She took a deep breath, staring at the number Ian had called from, resentment rising in her chest.
If it hadn’t been for that phone call, she wouldn’t be out of a job.
She had only been doing her normal work.
In every other respect, she had never overstepped–she understood those boundaries perfectly well.
And given that everyone knew about Daniel’s particular vices, she wasn’t foolish enough to push her luck
with him unnecessarily.
But now she knew that no matter what she said, it was too late.
The outcome was decided; all she could do was go to HR and file her resignation.
Daniel, on the other hand, felt nothing but irritation.
He had already settled the contract terms for the project with Joseph.
And now, out of nowhere, the Walton Corporation had appeared.
What was he supposed to do about that?
If he agreed to meet them, then what about Joseph?

The gifts that man had been sending him were more than satisfactory.

He had originally planned to keep stringing him along for another couple of days before signing the
contract.
It wasn’t often he met someone so pleasing to work with.
After all, working with a man like that didn’t feel exhausting.
So, when he saw the Walton Corporation’s call come in, he had no interest in answering.
If he took it, wouldn’t that damage the rapport he had built with Joseph?
After that, any perks or sweet deals the man had been slipping his way would dry up fast.
The thought left Daniel feeling both irritated and begrudging, and he couldn’t help cursing his secretary
in his mind.
A useless woman who only spoiled things–if she couldn’t even handle something so small, how could she possibly expect to stay at the company?
It was laughable.
He hadn’t planned to answer the Walton Corporation’s call at all, yet his brainless secretary had gone out of her way to push for it.
Thinking about it made the muscle in Daniel’s brow twitch.
In the future, he’d have to hire a secretary with a sharper mind.
Otherwise, situations like this were nothing but a bad joke and a source of needless trouble.
A woman who had been with Daniel stepped out of the room just then, catching sight of his tightly furrowed brows. She immediately leaned in close.
“Daniel, what’s wrong? You were fine just now–why do you look so weighed down?”
Her low–cut top left a generous stretch of cleavage on display.
Daniel didn’t hesitate to slip a hand inside as he sighed. “Don’t even start. I just got made a fool of by my
secretary.
“Now I’m in a bit of a tricky spot, and I don’t know how I’m going to handle it yet.”
The woman let out a soft breath, her own hands not idle in the least.
She couldn’t care less about the details–so long as she kept Daniel satisfied, there was nothing she couldn’t get from him.
