“Still as humble as always. But let’s be honest, since you chose a two–year stint, the rest of us are getting your cast–offs! I’m on my way to my third job since graduation and man am I rolling in the dough.”
“That’s awesome, Talia. I’m so happy for you. Come in, let me introduce you to the Alpha heirs.” Christian says.
When he turns, he blinks like he totally forgot we were here.
“Hey,” Talia says, jogging over before Christian can introduce her. “You must be Alpha Shane and Alpha Enya. It’s nice to meet you both. I’m Alpha Talia. Christian and I went to the Academy together. I’m so sorry for your loss,” she says the last part sincerely. Well, it was all sincere, but the first part was very bubbly. The last part was much more muted.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Shane says and I swear I feel him mentally kick me when I don’t say anything.
“Yes, nice to meet you. How long are you staying?”
“Oh, well, I know I didn’t let Christian know that I was coming, so I was just hoping to spend
a couple of hours, if you have time,” she says, looking back at him.
I breathe a sigh of relief. I can handle a couple of hours.
“When do you have to be at your next job?” Christian asks.
“Two days. I didn’t have time to go home, so I just started heading that way and then I remembered you were in this area. So here I am. But if you don’t have time, I totally get it. Work comes first.”
“Are you kidding? I’ll make time. If you don’t have to be there for two days, did you want to stay the night?” he asks her.
I’m pretty sure I feel Shane mentally reach into my mind and grab my wolf by the scruff of her neck. Are you fucking kidding me?

“It’s no trouble at all. It’s just the three of us on the Alpha floor. I’ll put you in the room beside mine,” he says. “I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to since we graduated. And if you stay late enough, you’ll get to meet Sebastiana tomorrow.

“Oh my goddess, I would LOVE that! I have to test her sparring skills.”
I’m not sure if I want to scream, snarl, kill someone, or vomit. His sex partner is going to be sleeping on our floor, in the room right NEXT to him.
“But, only if you’re sure it’s no problem,” she says, looking from Christian to me and Shane.
“Right. It’s no problem at all,” Shane says before I can answer. “Enya, why don’t you come with me, and we’ll make sure the room is ready for our guest,” he says, pulling me into the packhouse.
“What are you doing?” I whisper yell at him once we’re alone.
“What am I doing? What are YOU doing, Enya? Is there something going on between you and Christian that you haven’t told me about?”
“No,” I huff, wrapping my arms around my body.
Shane sighs. “Listen, I know you like him, but they’re friends. I don’t know if it’s more than that or not, but you don’t even know if he’s your mate, Enya. You can’t go around staking a claim on him.”
“Oh, like you haven’t staked a claim on Sebastiana?” I growl.
“That’s different, Enya. She and I agreed that we would be exclusive. Has Christian made that same commitment to you?” he asks.
