Chapter 12

After getting to my office, I sent for Elena.

As I waited for her to arrive, I went to pour myself a drink. It suddenly felt stuffy so I unbuttoned the first three buttons of my shirt. My phone unexpectedly rang and I grunted, already planning on ignoring the call, then I had a change of mind and saw that it was my baby sister.
“Hey big brother!” Vera gushed into the phone as I sank into my seat and surprised a grunt.
“Studying well in school?” I asked but she huffed and ignored my question. She always complained that I only liked to first of all talk about her school whenever she called, but I just wondered where I went wrong there since that was the reason I sent her and her twin abroad and enrolled them into one of the biggest schools there.
“Yes, we are. We hate school so much!” Valerie sighed into the phone, sounding dramatic as ever. I rolled my eyes while chuckling.
Vera and Valerie were the only signings I had. We weren’t from the same mother because mine died at birth, but after my dad remarried and his new wife what genuinely cared about me unlike my father, had these twins, I instantly fell in love with them and vowed to protect them no matter what. A few years after that, she suddenly feel sick and died shortly anger. Before she succumbed to the sickness, she made sure to plead with me to please protect her twins from my father, because she knew how horrible he was and how he could harm the kids without flinching for his own good.
Since then, I grew more protective of the kids, and took full charge of them as soon as I was strong enough to oppose him. That was the reason why I had them sent abroad for school because it was safer for them over there, and I had about a dozen guards watching after them over there to ensure their safety at all times.
They’re currently sixteen years old but they sometimes sound way smarter than their ages. Sometimes, they could be downright annoying, like little pests, and their next words proved it.
“Did you really get married, big brother? Without informing us?!!!” Vera demanded this time.
“Nope, definitely not.” I responded.
“We saw the news and instantly wanted to call but we were busy with exams.” Val revealed this time.
“You should definitely still be studying right now since I believe you both have a paper in a few days, correct?”
“Ugh, we do but we’ve read so much! Now we want to gossip a little, so who’s the bride that was present at that wedding? Was she not a real bride? Was it really just a ruse to distract a criminal?” Vera asked.
“Yes, it was.”
“You’re lying.” Vera accused and I laughed this time.
“Stop being a pest, Vera.” I fondly sighed and she whined about how I was such a spoilsport and how I was so boring and needed to let loose.

I didn’t want to indulge them because I’d rather not think about anything that concerned Elena right now. They knew I’d been searching for a fated mate for a while, so should they discover that I’ve found her, they’d demand to return home this very instant.
“How is everything? Is anything disturbing you? Any problems that need taking care of?” I asked and the girls sighed at the same time.
“We just miss you so much. We can’t wait for the holidays.”
I cooed as my heart warmed a little. I’ve missed them so much more. They might be annoying little pests but I loved them more than life itself and I was ready to go any length for the two of them.
After we spoke for a bit more, a knock echoed off my door and I had to end the call with them, then I called out for the person to come in.
The door opened and the smell of lilies and vanilla mixed with ice filtered into the office before Elena stepped in, and I sucked in a greedy lungful before I could stop myself. I instantly felt heady, like I was suddenly drunk, and my beast purred blissfully within me, urging me to breathe in more of that divine scent, but I ignored him.
She was still in the outfit from this morning and I was briefly entranced by how she looked so beautiful and hot at the same time before I tensely nodded at the chair before my desk. She muttered a quiet thanks underneath her breath before sitting.
“I’ve come to a decision.” I announced without wasting time, noticing as she visibly tensed up.
“I’ve decided that since I cannot reject you, I’ll not accept you either, I’ll just make use of you. You’ll bare children for me, and that is all. Aside childbearing, you’d have no other use for me.” I announced and she frowned, clearly displeased but I didn’t care.
“I’ll not give you a mating mark, or have anything with you. I won’t even impregnate you myself, it would be inseminated into you medically.”
“I’ll move you to my wing, not because I want you close, but because it’s only logical since you’ll start baring kids for me. So, don’t get the wrong ideas or dare to entertain any delusions of something ever happening between us.”
When I stopped this time, I leaned back into my seat and accessed her for a moment before ordering her to speak if she had anything to say or questions to ask.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t want any of what you’ve just said. I don’t want to become anyone’s breeder, and I’d rather you just let me leave instead of subjecting me to this.” She held my eyes as she spoke, and I gritted my teeth for a moment, once again disliking the mere thought of her leaving this palace.
“You can’t leave, I already told you it was out of the question.” I bit out and she huffed before turning around slightly.
“Well, then you probably shouldn’t waste your time with imsemimsting me. I can’t get pregnant, I never did. with my mate. I believe I’m barren.”
As she spoke, I stared closer at her face, trying to figure out if she was saying this to deter me or if she was being honest. Her face looked honest enough, but I’ve known not to trust whatever I see on her face so far.

“How sure are you that you’re barren? What if the problem was from your mate? Or did you not use protections with all the power you cheated on your mate? Is that why you’re convinced you’re barren?”
Her lips thinned when our eyes met again, as she spoke. “I’ve only ever slept with my mate. Do you need me to swear with an oracle or something so you can stop doubting me every two minutes?”
I narrowed my eyes at her as I sat up. “Watch your mouth, Elena.”
She slapped her mouth close and visibly deflated.
“I’ll have you inseminated, then we’ll see if you get pregnant or not.” I announced and she shook her head.
“I don’t want this.”
“Would you rather be locked up in a cell?”
She hesitated before finally shaking her head.
“Then you’ll do this, yes or no?”
She hesitated before finally nodding. Before she could say anything else, a knock echoed off the door.
After confirming it was Maya, I gave her permission to come in. She walked right to me, waved at Elena with a polite grin and after Elena waved back, she walked right to me and dropped right in my laps, then she wrapped her arms around me to draw me into a kiss.
I kissed her for about a minute before breaking it, and when I glanced over at Elena, her lips were pursed and there was no trace of jealousy or anger on her face.
Good.
Because she had no right to be.
Wanting to clarify with her, I began. “You had better not get jealous or anything. I’ll never take you to bed, SO don’t dare delude yourself.” As I spoke, Maya giggled against my skin before she began to kiss my throat. Her scent drifted into my lungs and I had to slowly breathe it in before it turned my stomach. I got used to it almost immediately as usual, but it instantly made my beast start to complain but I ignored him.
“I’ll do no such thing, so you have nothing to worry about.” Elena muttered in response. My beast didn’t like what I was doing right now, nor did he like her response but I ignored him again.
“Good.”
She nodded tensely as she got to her feet. “Can I leave now?”
I nodded once, suddenly feeling irritated by the kisses being peppered against my throat presently. “My beta will come show you to your new room soon.”
