Chapter 24 

Elena 

Oh shit. 

I had completely forgotten about this after he got into that fight with Eric. 

My mouth opened and closed but nothing came out.

“I gave you a warning and I was certain you heard it clearly. So, care to explain why you disobeyed my order?” 

If he wasn’t so close to me, I might have been able to think more clearly. But he was literally speaking right in my face, I coild smell his minty breath and there was barely any gap between our faces. 

“I- because I was bored.” I finally found my voice, but when his eyes narrowed at me, I realized that I hadn’t worded that properly. 

“I- I don’t have a phone, or anyone to speak to. This is a new place to me and I’m bored out of my mind. So I accepted his offer to take me out and it was just a harmless meal.” As I spoke, his eyes kept daring between my eyes and my lips, which made my brain go short circuit a little. 

“So you chose to go against my order because of that?” He asked flatly and my stomach clenched nervously as I glanced away. His grip was on my chin the next moment, turning my face around till our eyes got locked again. 

“The press didn’t think the meal you two shared was nothing. They think you’re fucking him.” His voice was hard this time and I swallowed, feeling his eyes burning into mine. 

“At this point, the internet would believe whatever they want, I don’t think I have the power to control that anymore.” I mumbled quietly, ignoring the way he scoffed and rolled his eyes. 

“You can choose to not feed into the rumors at least by not popping out in public with a man for the time being. I thought you’d be a little smart at least but you’re clearly not.” 

I let out a sigh with my lips pursed, not wanting his words to get to me. 

“I didn’t know that could happen, I didn’t know it was that bad.” I mumbled again and he snorted. 

“Of course you didn’t. And now even the people working here in the palace would start to suspect you’re fucking Eric because you’re seen as a chronic cheat by everyone.” 

I shook my head. “But I’m not.” 

“What else were you gonna say? And you know most of the people working here in this palace are aware that we’re mates. It’s gonna look bad on me, even though I already decided to not fully accept you as my mate.” He continued and I let out a sigh, refusing to let his words get to me. 

“I don’t know what to say.” I finally admitted and he rolled his eyes.

“Excuses, excuses… just, stay away from Eric on moving forward. Don’t go anywhere with him no matter what. Are we clear?” 

I nodded and he clicked his tongue. 

“Use your words.” 

“Yes, Blaze.” I responded and he clicked his tongue again. 

“It’s alpha to you.” 

I refused the urge to roll my eyes right now as I forced myself to rephrase my sentence. “Yes, Alpha.” 

After he finally dropped his hand from my chin, I was able to breathe a little better, but it wasn’t much help because he was still so close to me and one of his hands was still on the spot behind my butt. 

“But… I thought you weren’t supposed to care about anyone I chose to hang out with since you’re not accepting me as my mate.” I pointed out and at once, his eyes narrowed, making my heartbeat quicken as I began to wonder if I had overstepped. 

He was silent as he kept staring down st me, and I almost forgot to breathe. 

“Are you questioning me, Elena?” He finally spoke, voice low and terrifying and my heart flew into my throat as I quickly shook my head. 

“O- of course not.” 

He kept staring at me some more before finally giving me a tense nod. 

“Good.” 

Before I could say anything else, the door of this particular room was pushed open and Maya stepped in, her eyes widened and filled with curiosity as it settled on us. 

“Oh, you’re in here, my king.” She said slowly as she stepped into the room, her eyes darting between us. I remained tense, wondering why the king wasn’t pulling away or something, and that was when I realized the king was yet to glance away from me when I decided to sneak a glance back at him. 

My heartbeat quickened even more just as Maya came to stand beside the king, wrapping her arms around his bicep and holding it against her chest as she peered up at him. 

“What’s going on, my king?” She whispered, lowered and softened on purpose and I resisted the urge to scoff and roll my eyes right now. 

The king finally glanced away from me as he pulled away and turned to fully face Maya, whose eyes instantly filled with excitement as she pressed against his chest fully and slipped her arms around his waist. 

“I was taking care of something.” The king finally responded, his hand settling on Maya’s hips and this time, I scoffed at the sight. Maya peeked at me from between the king’s arm and flashed me a mocking grin then she focused on the king again and whined as she peered up at him.

“I have to discuss something important with you, my king.” She began and he nodded, and as she led him out of the room, he didn’t resist nor did he spare me any more glance. I was beyond irritated once the door closed after them and I let out a long hiss as I jumped off the table and pushed my hair lot of my face. 

I fanned my face because I still felt breathless from the long minutes the king had me trapped against the 

table. 

Rude bastard. 

Maya said she had to discuss something important with him. It was clear that she only wanted them to go fuck. 

Shameless bunch. 

I took a pain relief from the room before leaving it, and once I was in my bedroom, I was out as a light after using the drug and I didn’t wake up till evening. 

After taking a quick shower, I changed into something more casual when I got a knock from my door. I instantly tensed up, my mind instantly going to the crow. The knock came again and again and I groaned as I reluctantly went to answer it. 

After pulling it open, I was shocked to see the king’s beta, the exact one that showed me to this room, two days ago. A polite smile instantly spread across my face as I asked if there was something I could help him with. 

He handed a plastic bag to me as he spoke. “Here. The king asked for a phone to be gotten for you. It’s the latest model. Is there anything else you might need?” 

My eyes widened as I accepted the plastic bag, and on peering into the bag, I was shocked to see that he hadn’t been lying. A phone was really in there, and it was really the latest model. Excitement and happiness instantly filled my entire inside as I thanked the beta profusely. 

He grinned a little while awkwardly rubbing the back of his throat. “You’ll have to thank the king, not me, my lady. Now, is there anything else you might need?” 

I shook my head and still thanked him again before he finally left. Once I was alone again, I stared at the phone in surprise, unable to believe my eyes. With this phone, I’d finally be able to reach my friends again, and I’d feel less disconnected from the internet. 

I thought the king would never get me a phone. What made him change his mind? I wasn’t sure, but I feel like I needed to thank him for this, even though I hate him so much. 

After wearing my slippers, I slipped out of my room after putting the phone away, making my way to the king’s office where I had a feeling he’d currently be in. 

It didn’t take me long to get there, and once standing before the door, I knocked gently, the excitement of getting a phone still thick inside of me. 

“Come in.” A voice called out. It was Maya’s voice, which made me frown in confusion as I hesitantly pushed the door open and stepped in.

Loud moans and groans slapped me across the face, accompanied by the strong scent of sex. I blinked in shock, my mouth falling open at the sight right before me. 

Right there on the king’s desk, Maya was leaning over it, and the king was thrusting into her from behind. 

I blinked a few times before hurriedly whirling around, what I came here to do was completely forgotten as I was about to flee. 

However, Maya’s next words prevented that from happening. 

“Don’t leave just yet.”
