Chapter 145
I get up and dress for warrior training, heading downstairs with just a few moments to spare. Christian, Shane, and Sebastiana are already down here.
“Christian, Enya and I are going to spar together today,” Sebastiana says, skipping over to me.
I lock eyes with Christian across the group of warriors, and I swear he’s assessing if I’m okay this morning.
“If there’s more talking than sparring, you’re getting new partners,” he says.
“Fine,” Sebastiana says as if Christian’s rules are burdensome to her.
“So… did you?” she whispers when we move away from the
group.
“Not exactly,” I say, getting into a fighting stance.
“WHAT?” she asks loudly.
“Shhh!” I say, glancing over at Christian. He raises an eyebrow at
- me. “Offense or defense?” I ask Sebastiana.
“Offense, you defeated me last time. I need to see if I’ve improved.”
“Did YOU?” I whisper yell at her as she sends a punch my way.

“Yes. And it was better than the first time,” she whispers back, spinning when I block her and coming right back with another punch. I block that one too.
“Nice, that’s new,” I say before getting back to our conversation. “You and Shane have had sex more than once?”
“Duh! We did before I left last time.”
“Is that why…”
She swings her leg at my head, and I shift back as she misses, spinning around again.
“All the kissing? Yeah. Besides, we agreed to be exclusive until after the Academy, so we both know that we’re the only ones we’re with. So, what did happen with you and Christian?”
“Uh, he gave me a massage. He said it’s what he learned at the Academy?” I say, not sure if what he told me is true or if he was delaying our sexual interaction.
“No fucking way,” Sebastiana says, stopping mid–swing.
“What?” I ask her.
“Are you telling me that my brother is using the methods he learned to make him number one on the leaderboard with you?” she asks.
“I guess so. But why would they start with a massage?” I ask.
“So that your partner can get to know your body, get to know what you like. I told Shane last night that we need to do that, but neither one of us knows how. Christian is literally giving you a leg up at the Academy.”

“I don’t see how’s that true,” I say, blocking another hit. “I’m not learning how to please him.”
“Yeah, but you’re learning how the Academy works from someone who exceled in the classes. I know WHAT they do, but until you’re there, getting the instruction, it doesn’t make total sense. You get to see exactly how Christian works, and you’ll have the knowledge going into the Academy. You’re so lucky.”
I don’t feel lucky. I don’t see how me getting a massage that put me to sleep helps me with the Academy unless getting a great night’s sleep is the purpose.
Sebastiana shakes her head at me as if I’m missing the big picture. “You need to rethink your interactions. Think about what he’s doing and how he’s doing it. He’s figuring out what you like and what you don’t like when it comes to being touched. When do you see him again?”
“He said it was up to me, but I’m going back tonight.”
“Good. Pay attention to how he’s touching you, what his hands are doing, where he focuses his attention.”
“Oh, I can already tell you that. He focused on where I was holding the most stress. Seriously, I feel great this morning.”
