6.Chapter 6 Dylan’s Threat
“You fuckin’ bastard. I swear I’ll fight you with everything I’ve got,” Sophia shouted.
Five years ago, her husband died in a mysterious car crash. She always suspected Dylan had something to do with it. And now, this man, her late husband’s brother, was mad enough to hurt her son.
Dylan grabbed her by the throat, sneering, “Did you forget how Luna ended up in prison? You want your son back, huh? Give me what I want, and you can see him again.”
Dylan thought, ‘I’m being generous enough. If she sleeps with me, I’ll give her whatever she wants.’
“You—” Sophia’s fingers trembled, her words caught in her throat. She couldn’t help thinking, ‘I’ve never seen anyone so shameless. This bastard really makes me sick.’
“What? Don’t wanna see your baby boy again? Fine, pretend I didn’t say anything.” Dylan knew Sophia would give in. Everyone in their family knew Ethan meant everything to her.
Sophia’s heart ached upon thinking that. When Donald was alive, no one had dared treat her this way. And now, his birth brother was trying to humiliate her like this.
At the thought of Donald, tears streamed down her cheeks. ‘For five years, I worked my heart out just to keep the small company Donald left behind alive.
‘And now, the Blackwoods want to snatch it from me. But when they gave it to me, it was drowning in debt.’
“Look, Dylan, I only want Ethan back. I’ll do whatever you want for that.” Sophia’s voice broke. Ten days without her son had shattered her.
“Oh? Are you trying to negotiate with me?” Dylan’s smile turned cruel. “Sorry, but I don’t do negotiations. Either spread your legs for me, or you’ll never see him again.”
“You—” Rage surged through Sophia’s chest. She coughed up blood, her body pushed to its breaking point.
However, Dylan shoved her down onto the couch and sneered, “If you had picked me instead of Donald back then, you wouldn’t be in this mess. Tell me, Sophia, do you regret it now?”
Sophia turned her face away. Her answer was definitely no. Marrying Donald had never been a mistake for her. He always loved her with everything he had.
Dylan grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look at him. “What? Don’t wanna see my face? Am I that awful to look at?”
Sophia shot back, “Dylan, remember what you said just now. If anything happens to Ethan, I swear I’ll kill you.”
Dylan laughed, “Oh yeah? Too bad. You probably won’t ever see him again. He was taken by Penumbra Group.”
Sophia’s body jolted upon hearing that. She began to struggle wildly. “Damn you! I’ll kill you!”
She thought bitterly, ‘Ethan is only six. And no matter what, he’s still a Blackwood. How could they be this heartless? Even a stranger wouldn’t hurt a child that young. They’re even Ethan’s uncle and grandmother.’
But Sophia stood no chance. Dylan slapped her hard across the face, then began tearing at her clothes.
Outside the door, Luna returned with Ethan in her arms. Seeing that their mother lived in a relatively decent apartment complex, she felt slightly relieved.
But as soon as Ethan entered the passcode and opened the door, they both froze. Inside, that man, her so-called uncle, was on top of her mother.
“Get away from my mom,” Ethan shouted and charged forward.
Dylan whipped his head around at the sound. His brows drew together in confusion as he wondered, ‘What the hell? He was taken by Penumbra Group. How could he possibly be here?’
