Chapter 1165
Seeing this, Aurora pressed a hand to her forehead helplessly.
With Megan’s carefree, reckless nature, who knew when she’d finally catch on?
Forget it, since she was already here, she might as well just go along with it.
They had come out to relax. There was no point overthinking.
The whole group in the private room was having fun, and she didn’t want to spoil the mood.
Megan, in a place like this, was like a wild pup–impossible to keep still.
One moment she’d dart off, the next she’d come running back to Aurora, asking if she wanted to join the
dice game.
Aurora thought for a moment, then shook her head.
She preferred simply enjoying her drink.
She liked the liveliness and atmosphere–that was enough.
Megan glanced at Aurora, saw her only sipping her wine, and muttered under her breath, “So boring.”
The next second, before Aurora could react, Megan dragged her straight into the crowd to dance.
At first, Aurora felt awkward and restrained. But with Megan by her side, it was as if Megan had stepped
into her own territory.
After a few rounds of drinks, Aurora’s restraint melted away. Her wildness broke free, and she ended up
dancing even harder than Megan.
The two of them let go completely, moving wildly at the center of the dance floor.
Desmond had come here with Lucas to attend a gathering.
The private room was full of spoiled heirs, and he couldn’t blend in. The air felt stifling, so he slipped out
to catch a breath.
Leaning over the second–floor railing, his eyes fell on a familiar figure below.
He froze, then blinked in disbelief. It really was Aurora!
And wasn’t that her closest friend right beside her?
In an instant, the drowsiness he’d been fighting vanished.

“What on earth is Mrs. Carter doing here? Does Mr. Carter know about this? If he did, there’s no way he’d
let her come…”
Desmond’s heart twisted in conflict.
Should he tell Lucas about what he’d just seen or keep it to himself?
But he didn’t know how to bring it up. After all, the private room was full of Lucas‘ circle of young heirs.
Yet if he kept silent, his conscience would eat at him.
He couldn’t just stand by and watch Aurora dancing so wildly in a place like this.
And Lucas‘ cousin–how could she dare bring Aurora here to party?
If Lucas found out, there’d be no escaping the fallout.
Desmond’s mind twisted with indecision. He paced back and forth along the second–floor corridor, too uneasy to return to the private room where Lucas was.
After a while, he suddenly realized Lucas was standing right beside him.
“What are you pacing for?”
The deep voice in his ear made Desmond jolt in fright.
Without thinking, he blurted, “Nothing–I didn’t see anything, I definitely didn’t see Mrs. Carter and Miss Megan at all.”
“Mrs. Carter?” Lucas‘ eyes narrowed dangerously.
Sensing something, he looked down toward the floor below. In an instant, his eyes widened. Then,
without hesitation, he strode straight downstairs.
Desmond could only clutch his forehead, muttering under his breath, “It’s over. This time it’s really over. Mrs. Carter, don’t blame me for not protecting you–I couldn’t. Not here.”
He hadn’t expected to run into her in this place, let alone have Lucas catch sight of it.
The storm that was about to come–he didn’t even need to witness it to know how explosive it would be.
“Mrs. Carter, may you find your own way out of this. There’s nothing more I can do.”
