Because Jessica had to go on a business trip, Chris packed his luggage early in the evening and placed it
aside.
He checked the weather for the next few days and found that it was going to rain continuously.
Chris felt a bit worried.
The back mountain behind Montvue Tower was still undeveloped wilderness, which Jessica had bought together with others for development.
Such places were prone to danger once it rained.
“Can’t we change the date of the trip? Do we have to go during these rainy days?”
Jessica had just come out of the bathroom, a towel draped over her shoulders as she wiped the water
from her hair ends.
“No, some experts in the project team will have to return to their countries, and it’s basically impossible
to coordinate the timing. We can only go in the next two days.”
She walked over to Chris and didn’t care that her hair was still dripping, snuggling into his arms.
“It’s okay, don’t worry. The Montvue Tower project has been going on for a long time, and nothing has
ever happened.”
Since they had bought that piece of land, the geological survey bureau had naturally already inspected it,
so the risk was not high.
But for some reason, Chris still felt a vague uneasiness in his heart.
“How about I take two days off and go with you?” he asked, lowering his head.
“No need.”
Jessica was glad that Chris was so concerned about her.
She had been on business trips before and didn’t think it was such a big deal.
The next morning, continuous drizzle hung in the air, falling softly and making everyone feel uncomfortable.
All the business trip personnel had a day off to prepare their belongings.
Jessica, for once, didn’t have to get up early.

Francesca came to deliver a report and saw Chris’s state, standing opposite his desk she asked, “Mr. Green, are you feeling sick?”
“Yeah, maybe I caught a cold last night. It’s nothing,” Chris forced himself to look energetic and waved
his hand.
Francesca handed over the report and said, “Shall I go downstairs to get some medicine?”
“No need.” Chris flipped through it and read a couple of lines.
He wasn’t very sensitive to numbers and couldn’t really tell much from the report.
According to Nina, even if Francesca had tampered with it and embezzled funds, he probably wouldn’t notice and would still sign off on it.
Before signing the document, Chris said, “Help me check the recent weather conditions. Jessica will go on a four–day business trip to Montvue Tower tomorrow. I want the weather details for all four days.”
Francesca looked out the window behind Chris and saw the dark clouds.
“If I remember correctly, it’s going to rain the next couple of days. The ground is slippery, and many places outside have already raised warnings. Montvue Tower is in the wilderness after all. Does Ms. Wilder really have to go tomorrow?”
Francesca shared the same concern as Chris.
But Francesca understood that once the business trip date was set, it was basically impossible to change

“Forget it, you can go now. Tell Jake not to come at noon today. I will leave work early.”
“Okay.”
Jessica was alone at home and felt a bit lonely.

She thought about how Chris had spent five years in such loneliness.
