Marcy did have a recording.
And it wasn’t from the first time Luke approached her – it was about six months later.
It seemed someone had come to Luke asking for money, and when he returned, he wasn’t exactly kind to Marcy.
While drunk, he once again confessed to his crime.
Marcy had been prepared and had recorded all of their conversations for emergencies.
She hadn’t expected to actually get the chance to use them.

“That vixen – it’s all her fault! She must have kidnapped my son!” Mrs. Zorro rushed forward, trying to grab Roy’s arm.
Several officers on either side reacted quickly, stopping her in time.
If they allowed anyone to lay hands on Roy at headquarters, they would be in a lot of trouble.
“Calm down,” Roy said coldly.
“Mr. Frank is right. As of now, Luke is still a victim. Even if there’s a crime to charge, we have to find him first.”
“So the best thing for you to do is not make a scene here and delay the task force’s rescue operation.”
Frank led Mrs. Zorro back to the car. Both of them looked grim.
Mrs. Zorro said, “That person must be lying. How could Luke…”
“What do you mean by that?” Frank suddenly shouted. “Don’t you know what your son is like? Something like this happened before – Thomas cleaned up the mess for us. And now look at what’s happened. He’s gotten himself into trouble!”
Mrs. Zorro was shocked by his scolding, but it brought her back to her senses.
She quickly grabbed her husband’s hand.
“Then what do we do now? Even if they found Luke, will he still go to prison? No, no, that won’t do!”
“Michael has a new company now – he won’t return to He Corp. The company is almost in our hands. Luke can’t get into trouble now!”
Frank fell silent for a moment, then pushed Mrs. Zorro’s hand away.
“Then Luke will have to remain a ‘victim‘ forever.”

At that moment, Mrs. Zorro still didn’t understand what her husband meant.
Even just watching the news broadcast, Chris already knew the couple had gone to headquarters to cause
a scene.
He called Roy to ask about the situation.
“Marcy’s boyfriend’s parents have arrived. Right now, I can only count on them to pry open Marcy’s mouth. By the way, have you gotten in touch with Jessica?”
Chris hadn’t been able to reach Jessica all day.
He had thought she was just too busy with work to check her phone – but it was already past six.
Could Jessica really go a whole day without eating?
If she had time to rest, she would always reply to his messages.
What was going on now?
Chris pressed his hand to his forehead.
He was at home. Next to the sofa was a small suitcase.
He really couldn’t wait any longer – he was planning to set off for Montvue Tower first thing in the
morning.
He had to see Jessica with his own eyes to be at ease.
“Still no word. The rain’s getting heavier, and I’m worried the signal will completely cut out. While there’s still reception, I’d better head over to find her.”
Roy stood in the main lobby of the headquarters, looking out at the curtain of rain.
Frank and Mrs. Zorro had already driven off – the red tail lights fading into the distance.
The drizzling rain shattered everything into fragments, and the wind carried a damp chill.
Only then did Roy finally light that cigarette.
“Be careful. This rain’s been lasting for quite a while – Team Three is already out helping with traffic.”
Rain always brought trouble.
For Chris, the unease in his chest left him completely unsettled.
After ending the call, he turned his head to look at the suitcase.
