Chapter 1199
“From now on, whenever I’m free, I’ll come by–so long as you don’t find me annoying,” Leonard said earnestly.
He’d been worrying about how to find an excuse to come around more often.
He hadn’t expected Megan to hand him the perfect opening so easily, laying down the path for him to just walk right in.
“Annoying? How could I? Free labor is never unwelcome.” Megan patted his shoulder. “Work hard, and once things settle down, Aurora and I will treat you to dinner.”
“No need for dinner. But it’s true–we haven’t gotten together in ages.”
Leonard rubbed the back of his neck, a little awkward. “You’ve both just been buried with this studio project.”
“Yes, yes, everyone knows the mighty Miss Megan is the busiest of all,” Leonard teased.
“Doesn’t matter. Once you two are done here, you can find me anytime. I’ll be around.”
Hearing that, Megan suddenly felt a little awkward herself. “With the way you’re helping out, don’t tell me -you actually have feelings for Aurora?”
Leonard froze on the spot.
He thought Megan hadn’t noticed anything. But clearly, she had seen right through him.
Without mercy, she’d torn off the cover he hadn’t even realized was so thin.
He rubbed at his nose, eyes shifting away. “Why would you say that?”
“Oh, come on.” Megan curled her fist and playfully tapped his shoulder.
“That little secret of yours? Please. It’s plain as day. You weren’t even trying to hide it–anyone with eyes
could see.”
Leonard ran his tongue over dry lips, at a loss for words. He hadn’t expected Megan to be so blunt, asking him straight out.
“But I…” He started to explain, only to be cut off.
“Forget it. You don’t need to explain a thing–it doesn’t matter.”
Megan pointed at the line of potted plants. “What matters right now is you finishing the job. Stop wasting time with this nonsense. I honestly don’t care that much.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the plants without another word. There was no more time to

waste.
She had already wasted too much time fussing over the flowers and plants.
The project was moving too slowly, and they were supposed to start renovations at the beginning of next month. That left barely two weeks, and the schedule was tight.
She couldn’t afford to waste any more time on Leonard.
As for whether he still had feelings for Aurora, Megan honestly didn’t care.
After all, any feelings he had could only stay buried in his heart. Aurora was with her cousin now.
So, no matter how much Leonard liked her, he had no chance.
Talking about it was pointless. Why waste time chasing something that had no future?
Leonard heard Megan’s words from behind but didn’t know how to respond. He had wanted to explain himself seriously just moments ago.
But for some reason, deep down, he didn’t want Megan to know he had once liked Aurora, especially now -Aurora was married to Megan’s cousin.
If he kept acting this way, wouldn’t that make him look like some pathetic interloper?
