Chapter 240
“Rebecca’s coming.” I muttered, my heart racing with both fear and admiration for her courage.
“What?” my mother asked. “How could she possibly-
The mate bond,” my father interjected. “It’s guiding her.”

One of the SUVs accelerated suddenly, closing the gap between us. The heavy vehicle slammed into our rear bumper, sending the Bentley fishtailing across the road. The impact rattled my bones, the steering wheel nearly wrenched from my grip.
“They’re getting impatient,” I growled, fighting to regain control of the vehicle. “Hold on tight!”
I swerved left, then right, trying to shake off our pursuer, but they anticipated my moves, staying right with us. The road narrowed as we approached an underpass, concrete walls closing in on both sides.
Another impact rocked the car, harder this time. The Bentley skidded sideways, tires screaming against the asphalt. My heart hammered in my chest as we narrowly missed colliding with the wall, the side mirror snapping off with a crack.
“They’re trying to force us off the road,” my father said, his voice remarkably composed despite the danger.
A third hit came from the side, metal screeching against metal as one of the SUVS tried to push us into the concrete barrier lining the road. Sparks flew as the Bentley’s side scraped against the barrier, the sound of tearing metal filling the car.
“They want to flip us,” I shouted, wrestling with the steering wheel as we spun. “Brace yourselves!”
The Bentley tipped precariously on two wheels, teetering on the edge of rolling over. Time seemed to slow as I felt the vehicle begin to lift, gravity shifting sickeningly. My mother’s sharp intake of breath and my father’s low growl were the only sounds as we hovered on the brink of disaster.
Just as I thought we might lose control completely, I caught a flash of movement in my peripheral vision. A familiar Maybach came barreling around the corner, moving with impossible precision. She had timed her approach perfectly, accelerating directly toward the vehicle that was attempting to force us off the road.
The impact was tremendous. Rebecca’s car slammed into our attacker at precisely the right angle, catching the larger vehicle in its vulnerable side panel. The sound of crunching metal filled the air as the enemy SUV spun away, its front end crumpled and smoking. The Bentley crashed back down onto all four wheels, the suspension groaning in protest but holding.
Through the windshield of her vehicle, I caught a glimpse of Rebecca. Her eyes were glowing gold, her hands gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles, her expression a mask of fierce determination. She had placed herself directly between us and our remaining pursuers, creating a protective barrier with her own vehicle.
The Bentley finally came to a stop at the side of the road, the engine sputtering before dying completely. The damage was too severe to continue. I quickly exited the vehicle, scanning for immediate threats while my parents followed.
Rebecca was already running toward us, her form shifting partially as she moved. Golden eyes, extended claws, slightly elongated canines – her wolf aspect emerging in response to the threat to her mate. Her movements were fluid and powerful, a perfect blend of human grace and wolf strength.

Chapter 240
“Are you alright?” she demanded, reaching me and immediately examining the wound on my arm. Her fingers traced the veins where the silver poison was spreading, her touch gentle but urgent.
“I’m fine,” I assured her, pulling her into a quick embrace. “How did you come here?”
‘I’m worried about you,” she said simply. “I could feel your pain, your direction. It was like following a golden thread through the city. just… knew where you were.”
