Chapter 1220
The secretary was a little taken aback by Tessa’s call.
She couldn’t understand why Tessa would phone at this time, especially since Daniel had never mentioned anything about it to her.
For the moment, she didn’t dare act recklessly.
She remembered the last secretary had been dismissed over this very project.
This time, she couldn’t afford to make a mistake.
With a serious tone, the secretary said, “Hello, miss, please hold for a moment. I need to check when Mr. Lewis is available tomorrow.”
“Isn’t this something a secretary can decide on her own?”
Tessa was confused. Weren’t secretaries supposed to handle appointments and organize their boss‘
schedule?
At that, the secretary gave a light laugh. “Miss, you must be joking. The schedule belongs to our boss. We can only arrange it and find suitable times, but ultimately, it depends on what he decides.”
Hearing this, Tessa finally understood.
The secretary was just an employee–whether she got to meet or not was up to Daniel himself.
“All right, I see. I really appreciate it,” Tessa said pointedly. “This project is extremely important to our company. If I do get a meeting with Mr. Lewis, I’ll be sure to thank you properly.”
Her last words carried extra weight.
The secretary’s eyes flickered in recognition.
They were both smart enough to understand exactly what Tessa meant.
She answered carefully, “All right, miss, I’ll get back to you shortly. This is the number I should return the call to, correct?”
“Yes, that’s right. Just call me directly.”
Hearing this, Tessa felt reassured.
With the secretary’s response, she knew the matter was as good as settled.
That was already a big step forward.
So, she waited patiently for the secretary’s reply.

Chapter 1220
Meanwhile, the secretary hadn’t been idle.
She checked the time, realizing Daniel was still in his office.
So, she walked straight to his door and knocked.
When she heard his voice, she pushed the door open.

“Mr. Lewis, someone from Walton Corporation just called,” she recalled Tessa’s words carefully. “She said she wanted to discuss a potential partnership with our company.”
“Walton Corporation?”
Daniel lifted his head from the documents, looking puzzled. “Are you sure you didn’t hear that wrong?”
He was confused. Aurora was no longer with Walton Corporation, so why would someone still be requesting a meeting?
“Did she give you her name?” Daniel asked seriously.
The secretary froze–how could she have forgotten something so important?
Even now, she still hadn’t remembered what the caller’s name was.
The realization made her flush with embarrassment, unable to meet Daniel’s eyes.
“Well… she didn’t actually tell me her name.”
Scratching her head awkwardly, she added, “She only said she wanted to schedule a meeting with you tomorrow and asked when you’d be available.”
Daniel gave a cold snort. “Convenient way of putting it. Was it that she never told you, or that you forgot
to ask?”
The secretary lowered her head, unsure how to answer.
