“The day they left, we called you dozens of times to ask you to come back for a proper goodbye, but you didn’t answer a single one. What’s the point of being anxious now? Get married first, then we’ll go to Spain together, and you can properly explain everything to Mr. Ross.”
Every word they said felt like hot oil being poured over Julian’s heart. The thought of maybe never seeing Shelly again made his hands tremble.

him.
