Because the investigation would take some time, the Rosses settled back into the Stormfall Pack. During this period, the Blakes tried to pull strings and beg for mercy almost every day, but they refused them all. The Blakes soon heard the news and rushed back.
As soon as Shelly came out of the police station, she saw Julian waiting outside. After not seeing him for two or three days, he looked much thinner, and his eyes were bloodshot. When he saw her, a trace of shame flickered across his face, and his voice was low.“Shelly”
Shelly didn’t bother to acknowledge him. She pretended not to see him and prepared to leave. Before she could even go down the stairs, Julian stopped her, quickly stepping in front of her.“Can we talk?”
Shelly knew that he was here because they had both been called in for questioning about the same case. He was most likely here to beg on Grace’s behalf. She had heard these pleas so many times recently that she was tired of them, so she didn’t want to give him a chance to speak. She told him directly, “There’s nothing to talk about. It’s been confirmed that Grace planned a crime, and my parents and I will definitely see it through to the end. No one can change that. Instead of asking me to be lenient, you’d better find some good lawyers for your first love; maybe she can serve a few years less in prison.”
Julian froze. The committee had already shown him the surveillance footage. He never expected that Shelly hadn’t lied that day. It was truly Grace who had planned the whole thing to frame her.
Remembering what he did that night, he wished he could slap himself. Why did he take his anger out on a victim? Why did he act on impulse and say so many hurtful things? Why couldn’t he have been more patient, calmer, and investigated what really happened?
A tidal wave of self–blame washed over Julian, making him feel restless for a long time. So, seeing that Shelly had misunderstood him again, he panicked a little and quickly explained.“It’s not for Grace…”
Then there’s even less to talk about.”
With that, Shelly shook off his hand and got into her car. But after she buckled her seat belt, she saw Julian standing in front of the car, stubbornly refusing to move. His eyes, which were usually so proud and wild, were now filled with a desperate plea.“Shelly, fifteen minutes, just give me fifteen
minutes.”
Shelly stared at him, her fingers tapping a few times on the steering wheel. She knew that with his Alpha personality, if she didn’t agree, he would block her here all day. She didn’t want to waste any more time with him, so she nodded. “Ten minutes”
Seeing her give in, Julian seemed to find a sliver of hope and let out a sigh of relief. He walked to the driver’s side and spoke softly. “I’m sorry for everything that happened before, Shelly. I shouldn’t have trampled on your feelings, and I shouldn’t have said those hurtful things. I apologize. You can hit me or yell at me; I’ll accept it all. I just beg you not to ignore me, okay?”
“Before, I always thought I liked Grace, but on the day I was supposed to announce her as my partner, when I heard you had moved away, I realized that you were the most important person in my heart. I couldn’t lose you, which is why I broke off the engagement with Grace.”
I truly love you. I believe the Moon Goddess chose us as mates because she knew we were truly the most suitable pair.”
“Please, come back, okay? Accept me again… Only you can be the future Luna of the Stormfall Pack.”
Shelly could no longer tell if his words were true or false. Over the years, she had heard him say countless sweet things, and she thought that was love, But in the end, it was all just her own one–sided affection, her own wishful thinking.
If he truly cared, truly loved her, would he have abandoned her when she was in danger? Would he not have even given her a chance to explain? Would he have pushed her away again and again?
She had already fallen for it once. Even her wolf felt no change in her emotions at his words. So this time, no matter what he said, she didn’t take it to heart, treating it as a joke.“So what?”
