Chapter 8
When Nellie saw that flattering Shanan and badmouthing me didn’t work, she decided to drop
the act.
“It was all a misunderstanding. I was in shock and didn’t know what I was saying. Lauren wasn’t hurt, right? What right do you have to freeze Jayden’s cards? If you ask me, you did it on purpose! You’re so nasty!” she spat.
I let out a soft chuckle and stepped out of the car. “Nasty? How can I compare to someone like
who stole someone else’s credit and kept on lying for over a decade?”
you,
As I spoke, I pulled out a thick pile of documents and tossed them right into Jayden’s face. He skimmed the pages, and the rage on his face froze as his whole body began to tremble.
“Lauren, it really was you…”
Nellie quickly went over. The moment her eyes met the document, she froze in place.
“No, no… Jayden, I was the one who saved your grandma! I swear!”
Nellie clung to Jayden’s arm and tugged him, but Jayden simply shoved her away. She fell hard onto the curb, and blood began to pour out from the wound on her head. She screamed in pain, tugging at Jayden, crying that it hurt.
However, Jayden didn’t even glance at her. He simply stared blankly at the documents in his hand.
The documents were all the records regarding my saving his grandmother. There were photos of the cars, receipts, and even a handwritten thank–you letter from her.
Fortunately, my butler had a habit of preserving things as he had wanted to use them to promote my generosity in the past. Back then, I thought it wasn’t worth mentioning, so I simply told him to put it away.
Never had I thought it would one day be evidence to prove my innocence!
Jayden, Jesse, and Joel turned pale after reading the documents in their hands.
“Lauren… If it was you who saved my grandma, why didn’t you say anything?” Jayden asked.
I rolled my eyes with a scoff. “It wasn’t something worth mentioning. No need to brag about it all the time.”
I held Shanan’s hand, intending to go back into the car, but Jayden suddenly rushed over and hugged me.
“I was foolish, Lauren! I never expected it was you who did all that… I’ll treat you right from

now on, so stop provoking me like this. I swear I won’t see Nellie anymore. I’ll spend the rest of my life with you!”
Disgusted, I pushed Jayden away from me.
“You’re making it sound so easy. You’re legally dead now, and our marriage was terminated after that. Why would I spend the rest of my life with you when I’m the heiress of the Hanson family? Oh, right. I know that you falling off a cliff was a lie all along. Nellie never saved you. You never lost your memories.”
Jayden stood there, gasping for breath, as if he had just suffered a terrible shock.
“It was just temporary! I didn’t know it was you who saved my grandma! Please don’t say things out of anger… I know you still care about me.”
Looking at how serious he was, I couldn’t help but scoff. “You’re mistaken. The reason I married you is so the shares owned by the Hanson family wouldn’t fall into the hands of outsiders. Honestly, I don’t know where you get your confidence!”
With that, I got back into the car with Shanan’s help.
As the car sped away, Jayden kept on chasing after us until he was nothing but a speck on the horizon.
My wedding was filled with energy, laughter, and joyful celebration. Jayden and the others wanted to come in by threatening to commit suicide, but security immediately dumped them across the street.
Relieved, I indulged in a few extra drinks. After the wedding, I nestled lazily in Shanan’s arms. “I ran in so many circles, and finally found the right one.”
Shanan didn’t know I had been reborn. Thinking I was simply moaning about my experience, he held my hands tightly and comforted me gently.
This time, I held his hand back just as tightly. I didn’t want to let go–never again.
After our wedding, Shanan acted just like in my past life and relocated everything back into the country. He would always stay by my side.
As for Jayden and the others, they had been pampered for far too long. After being exiled from the Hanson household, they had nowhere to go. They weren’t qualified for good jobs, yet they dismissed modest work as being beneath them.
In the end, they opened a shop together–only to lose everything quickly.
Without any options left, the brothers would frequently wander around the Hanson residence

in hopes of bumping into me by chance and sway my heart. Every time, the security team. would toss them far away.
Not long after, Shanan brought me news about Nellie. She had slipped into a coma because her head injury from that day was left untreated for too long. At first, the three brothers were worried that they would get into trouble, so they would still pay some of her medical bills. After they lost everything, they abandoned her altogether.
While they were drinking one day, Nellie’s parents confronted them.
A fight broke out over just a few words. Nellie’s parents blamed Jayden for being irresponsible, while Jayden and his brothers argued that Nellie was just a shameless wench who stole someone else’s good deed and ruined their entire lives.
During the argument, they flew into a drunken rage and started a fight. One of them stabbed Nellie’s father with a beer bottle.
Nellie’s mother immediately called the cops. After all was said and done, Jayden was sentenced to five years.
As Jayden, Jesse, and Joel were completely broke, Nellie’s mother had no choice but to pull Nellie’s life support herself.
That was how the girl I once treated like my own younger sister was gone, her short life ended. In this life, she never got to see the vast flower fields in Massalia.
As for Jesse and Joel… When they couldn’t earn any money, one turned to theft and the other to gambling. They soon ended up in prison too, joining their oldest brother Jayden.
Hearing it all, I simply smiled faintly.
I believe they finally understand their true place in this world.
Unfortunately, it was far too late.
This time, there wouldn’t be another kind–hearted girl to save them from the fiery pits.
