The one who came in was not the she–wolf he yearned for, but Isabelle.
His wolf deflated, the flicker of hope extinguished..
The she–wolf obviously heard the name he blurted out, she couldn’t understand why it was just a Beta wolf who always opposed her. Jealousy, sharp and bitter, coiled in her gut.
She looked at the disappointed Ethan, unable to bear this contrast.
“Why is it Zoe again! Ethan, do you really like her?!” she demanded.
Ethan didn’t answer; after realizing the she–wolf who came in wasn’t me, his mind wasn’t here anymore. His thoughts were consumed by Zoe, his heart aching with regret.
But seeing him like this only angered Isabelle more. Tears welled up in her eyes.
Feeling incredibly wronged, she shrieked hysterically.
“She’s just a Beta wolf! A slut! The first day I came back, I knew her intentions towards you weren’t pure. It’s good that bitch is gone! Ethan, didn’t you say you only loved me? What do you mean now? Have you fallen for her?!”
Facing Isabelle’s relentless questioning, Ethan’s mind was a mess, utterly silent. His wolf was in turmoil, torn between loyalty and
desire.
But Isabelle was used to a life of being spoiled, and the more she was neglected, the more she hated me, she furiously slammed things on the office desk.
“I heard it just now, you asked where Zoe went, you even want to find her, you even want to find her and bring her back! You’ve fallen
for her!”
His patience reached its limit. The look in his eyes when he saw Isabelle no longer held the love it once did. He completely couldn’t understand why he would like someone like this–unreasonable, self–willed, and headstrong. She even forced me away! His wolf snarled, disgusted by her behavior and her manipulative nature.
Thinking of this, Ethan could no longer hold back. He responded with red eyes.
“So what if I fell in love with Zoe! Do you know what you’ve been doing all this time?!”
Once he started, the anger couldn’t be held back anymore. Ethan approached her step by step.
“You got rid of all my Beta wolves and even deleted work messages from my communication stone without permission, causing several Pack Alphas to want to terminate their blood oaths! At the Pack grounds, I gave you authority, and you just flaunted your power, bullying Pack members, causing them all to clamor to resign. Do you know how much resources you’ve made my Pack lose these past few months?!”
“I could let all of that slide, but why did you force Zoe away? You framed her again and again, which is why she couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to leave me!”
“You’re right, I do like Zoe. I fell in love with her! You’ve been gone for so long, and Zoe was the one who spent these past few years with me, Isabelle, what right do you have to talk about her like that!” His wolf roared with defiance.
He roared, his eyes incredibly dark, scaring Isabelle.
She couldn’t help but tremble, tears welling up in her eyes, but she still remained stubborn.

“Just because she’s only a Beta wolf, what is she even…”
Slap-
Her words weren’t finished, when Ethan raised his hand and slapped her hard. The crisp sound shocked Isabelle immensely; he had actually hit her.
Just now, those precarious tears instantly fell. Isabelle cried and flailed her hands wildly.
“You actually hit me! Ethan, you actually hit me! You kept saying you loved me, and now you actually hit me for a Beta wolf!”
But her struggles were useless. After realizing his own feelings, Ethan looked at her as if she were someone utterly repulsive. He grabbed her hand and slapped her again without hesitation.
His wolf recoiled from her touch, repulsed by her deceit and manipulation.
With a heavy thud, Isabelle’s head was knocked sideways from the slap, and her face immediately swelled up, but the anger in his eyes did not diminish, and his words were ice cold.
“Zoe has suffered much more grievances than these. What is it for me to hit you? I want you to apologize to Zoe!”
