He thought it didn’t seem right to use the salary Jessica paid him to buy things for her.
After giving it some thought, Chris still pulled out his computer and busied himself with it.
Recently, he had been bringing his computer into Jessica’s office.
While she worked, he tinkered with Jake’s thesis, and occasionally he wrote a little himself.

About a week ago, an editor had added his contact information and told him that one of the books he had written before was going to be signed for publication.
The publishing fee was quite substantial.
He thought, when that money came in, he could buy something for Jessica.
Even if it was only a lipstick, it would still be a token of his affection.
The trip to Lonat had already been decided.
Mrs. Wilder didn’t say much, only told Jessica to try to persuade Sophie more.
If persuasion didn’t work, then she should think of a way to bring her back by force.
“If you can’t do it, I will,” Mrs. Wilder said, and then carried the cat back to her room.
Chris was stunned.
His mother–in–law looked gentle and mild, and whenever business matters were mentioned she always showed a calm face.
Who would have thought she could say such things?
Jessica, however, said, “This is nothing. Back when my mother was in business, her methods were much tougher than mine.”
She pinched Chris’s chin, stared into his eyes, and said, “When she met someone she liked, she would just drag him home. If he didn’t cooperate, she would find a way to spend the night with him. If he still didn’t cooperate, she would just drag him to the Register Office. It would be impossible for him to run away!”
Chris was rendered speechless.
Now he finally knew from whom Jessica inherited her bandit–like character.
News about Aitairy was being broadcast continuously on international channels.
Recently, Sophie’s face had been appearing frequently on financial programs.
Because Aitairy had hidden Carol’s identity so well, few abroad knew that Carol was actually the daughter of the sWilder family.
When they arrived at the airport, Indya and Shannon were busy directing the group of young players from the

club.
This time, Shannon would serve as the team leader, while Indya would spend most of her time acting as Blake’s
manager.
Each had their own role.
Since Jessica and Chris weren’t on a business trip, they didn’t need Shannon, her secretary.
Instead, Francesca had come to send them off at the airport and sat beside Chris, saying quite a few things.
“The International Medical Organization is holding a conference in Lonat. They sent you an invitation letter last month. Since you had no overseas trips planned, I just set it aside. But now it happens to coincide, so I brought it for you.”
Francesca tucked the invitation letter into Chris’s suitcase, which would be checked in directly.
“The International Medical Organization’s conference carries great weight. If you can attend, you should go,” Francesca reminded him.
Chris nodded in agreement.
He knew how valuable such international medical conferences were, and he was inclined to attend if he had the chance.
Even if he couldn’t give a speech, simply hearing authoritative treatment methods would still be a great help. Before Francesca finished speaking, Chris heard Indya calling out a child’s name.
“Are you having a stomachache? Did you skip breakfast?” Indya squatted down beside a boy. “Didn’t the doctor tell you to eat three meals on time? Did the care worker not prepare food?”
The boy’s face had already turned pale.
“She did, but I overslept. When they called us to leave, I had just opened my eyes.”
Indya was rendered speechless.
Shannon, standing beside them, said, “I’ll go buy a sandwich. Wait here.”
Both Chris and Jessica turned their heads to watch.
“Indya fusses over this group of kids like a nursery teacher,” said Jessica.
But Blake didn’t look very happy.
His eyes stayed fixed on the boy with the stomachache.
“You need to listen to the doctor, Lando, understand?”
