When Melanie said this, the Rasmussen family fell into a brief silence.
Everyone looked at Melanie like she was an idiot.
They really didn’t expect it–Melanie was actually so shameless, she even dared to say she was the chairman of MR Group?
Did she actually know what kind of thing MR Group really was?
That was a top international financial group.
It wasn’t domestic, it was international!
International big financial groups, that was something countless people could only look up to.
Don’t even mention the Rasmussen family, even Chicago’s top family, the Fulton family, couldn’t get close to the MR Group.
What was Melanie, anyway?

After a moment of silence, Winona was the first to snap out of it. She got really mad right away, “Melanie, what kind of nonsense is going on in your head all day? Chairman of MR Group? You really dare to say that? Aren’t you afraid they’ll send you a lawyer’s letter?”
Estelle chuckled and said, “Sis, I know you just got back and want to prove yourself to the family, but you don’t have to say everything out loud. The chairman of MR Group is someone a lot of people want to meet but can’t. Even Dad has tried to see him many times, but the answer was always ‘no‘.”
Estelle glanced at Melanie, obvious sarcasm in her eyes, “If you want to learn about business, I can teach you, but don’t say things like that again. If someone with bad intentions spreads it, the chairman of MR Group might really hold our Rasmussen family
responsible.”
Melanie crossed her arms and looked at Estelle with a half–smile, then turned her eyes to Alberto.“Dad wants to see me? Go ahead, what does he want? If it’s not too much, since I’ve got your blood in me, I’ll say yes.”

Winona, “…”
Estelle, “…”
Was this guy in his right mind?
I already told her to stop bragging like that, but she actually got addicted to acting it out.
Even Bethany and Evander, who had always doted on Melanie, just stood there with their mouths’open and couldn’t say a word.
The atmosphere got tense again.
After a long while, Bethany cleared her throat and said awkwardly, “Mel, Grandma knew you were filial. I was already really happy that you could come back and stay with me. Stuff like this… ahem, just don’t say it again next time.”
She wasn’t blaming Melanie, it’s just that there were a lot of weird things in this house.

Evander came back to his senses then, tugged on Melanie’s sleeve, and said quietly, “Mel, I know Warren spoils you and he’s willing to give you anything you want, but MR Group really isn’t something Warren can handle. Be careful what you say.”

Estelle gave Melanie a proud look.
Dad never cared about any of the kids in this family.
Who said what, did what, he never saw it.
In his eyes, there was only interest.
He only looked at the kid who could bring him benefits.
Melanie was still the first one who got scolded by Dad.
Estelle was in a great mood and said to Alberto like she was making a vow, “Dad, don’t worry, I’m really confident about this plan. I’ll go
to MR Group tomorrow and try to get a chance to meet the chairman of MR Group.”
Alberto shot her a sideways glance, his face still cold.“Anyone can talk big. I want results.”
Estelle’s face froze.“Yes, I would definitely make it.”
Bethany glanced at Estelle, her face didn’t look so good.
She’s never liked Estelle.
Self–interest and scheming were written all over her face.
If she really landed the MR Group deal this time, it would probably be hard to send her out of the Rasmussen family.
But this project was really important to the Rasmussen family.
Estelle really was the one Winona focused on training since she was little, and she really did have a fifty percent chance of success.
She had to let Estelle try.
Just thinking about it made me upset.
Melanie saw that Bethany was upset, took her hand, and said, “Grandma, don’t worry. I’ll bring the contract to you tomorrow.”
Bethany patted Melanie’s hand, gave a wry smile, and didn’t say anything.

If Melanie hadn’t been sent away by Winona back then, she would’ve been an amazing person now.
I didn’t tell those lies just to make her happy.
She knew Melanie meant well, but she couldn’t crush the kid’s good intentions.
Forget it, as long as Melanie was happy.
This meal was unusually quiet.
Bethany was in a bad mood and went upstairs early after dinner.
Winona got annoyed as soon as she saw Melanie and just grabbed her bag and left.
Alberto didn’t want to talk much to those kids and went to the study.
Melanie was about to leave when someone suddenly grabbed her sleeve.

Melanie looked back. Elaina Rasmussen handed her a drawing with a timid look and said, “Cousin, welcome home, this is my gift for
you.”
Melanie took the painting, a bit surprised.
Elaina actually drew her.
She was in a tight leather outfit, her beautiful hair loose down her back. She stood under the tree, and the moonlight fell on her, giving her a seductive and mysterious look.
She had seen plenty of good paintings. Elaina’s wasn’t perfect, but it had soul and promise.
“I–I know it’s not that good,” Elaina said softly.“I just wanted to give you a gift, but… this is all I can give. If you don’t like it, just throw it
away.”
Melanie looked up at Elaina.
Elaina was her cousin, the daughter of her eldest aunt, Nathaly Rasmussen.
One year younger than her.
Nathaly used to be a top actress, but she quit acting after marrying the rich guy Orlando.
Nathaly had a son and a daughter.
Life was supposed to go smoothly, but for her, it was really tough.
Her mother–in–law liked to make rules and said she had to do all the housework herself.
Her husband gave her 20,000 a month for living expenses.
Her son thought she was a useless housewife.
She and Elaina had a really hard time in that house.
In Melanie’s memory, when she was a kid, every time Nathaly came back to the Rasmussen’s villa, there was always a trace of sadness on her face. She rarely talked to the family, and Melanie wasn’t close to her.
It was Elaina who always liked to follow her around since she was little, always calling her cousin.
After Melanie was sent away by Winona, she occasionally thought of Elaina, but not much.

Melanie looked away from Elaina and smiled a little.“You drew it really well.”
Elaina’s eyes lit up, “Really?”
Melanie nodded and patted Elaina on the shoulder, “But you didn’t observe carefully enough, and the character wasn’t vivid enough. I was standing under the tree with a bottle of wine in my hand.”
“Then I’ll draw another one,” Elaina said, and then she left happily.
Melanie looked at her back and chuckled.
Not far away, Estelle, watching this scene, had a flash of fierceness in her eyes.
That bitch Elaina, she never even dared to fart in front of her before, but now she actually went to suck up to Melanie.
How?
She thought if she sucked up to Melanie, she’d have a good life?
Wait!
Anyone who was nice to Melanie, she wouldn’t let a single one go.
