Chapter 11
Before long, the assistant had gathered a thick file on Yuna Gardner and sent it to Jason.
Jason opened the file. The first pages were filled with records of her wild life. He had already known some of it, but the level of detail left him shaken.
Her private life was far more chaotic than he had imagined. Some nights, she even changed partners multiple times.
He couldn’t bear to read more and scrolled down quickly. Then, his hand suddenly stiffened on the mouse, disbelief flooding his eyes.
According to the investigation, the scandalous photos from the birthday banquet had all been released by Yuna herself. Her purpose had been to frame me.
Jason’s chest tightened. He hadn’t expected her to go so far to sacrifice her own reputation and dignity just to destroy what he had with me.
And then he remembered that day, how he had humiliated me in front of all the guests without hesitation. Regret crashed over him. He wished he could slap himself across the face for the way he had treated her.
“What have I done…”
He closed his eyes, his palms damp with cold sweat. But the truth didn’t stop there. As he read further, more shocking revelations emerged.
When his gaze landed on a psychiatric report, he shot up from his chair.
The investigation revealed that Timothy’s depression diagnosis had been completely fabricated -conspired between Yuna and a doctor she had bribed. The medical records were forged from start to finish.
Jason slammed his palm against the desk, the sound loud enough to rattle the computer
screen.
Barely holding back his fury, he ordered Timothy to be brought in.
A few minutes later, the little boy stood timidly in the study doorway, twisting the hem of his shirt with nervous fingers.
Jason forced his voice to remain calm. “Timmy, tell me the truth. Have you really been depressed all this time? Were you ever scared of your mother?”
The child’s eyes reddened, tears welling in an instant.
“Daddy… I… I lied,” he stammered through sobs.
“It was Yuna who told me. She said if I pretended to be sick, then she could stay with us. Otherwise, Grandpa would send her away…”
Jason’s heart sank heavily. “And what else?”
“And… at that birthday banquet, when I said Mommy gave the USB drive to the hotel man-that wasn’t true either. I only said it to help Yuna.”
Jason’s temper immediately flared. “Why would you do that? She’s your mother!”
“Yuna told me that you’ve always loved her. She said you, me and her were the real family… and

Mommy was the outsider who tore us apart. That’s why I started hating Mommy more and
more…”
Jason angrily slapped the boy’s bottom. “And you believed her just like that?”
Timothy cried even louder. “But Daddy… you really did spend years staring at Yuna’s photos. And when she came back, you treated her so gently. You’ve never been that way with Mommy…”
The words hit Jason like a bucket of cold water. It was true. From the beginning, he had resisted Gideon’s arranged marriage. Because of that, he had given me nothing but coldness and cruelty He had never considered how deeply his behavior had ruined his own child.
Timothy tugged on his father’s sleeve, whispering, “Daddy… I saw everything online these past few days. Yuna tried to hurt Grandpa. She’s a bad person, isn’t she?”
Jason didn’t answer directly, yet his voice was heavy with bitterness. “The world of adults is complicated, Timmy. It’s not always as simple as good and bad.”
“But I need you to understand one thing. What Yuna said isn’t true. Your mother was never the other woman.”
“A lot of this… it’s my fault. We both wronged your mother.”
Children’s hearts were simple. Timothy understood immediately that he had done something terribly wrong to his mother.
His tears welled again as he asked in a choked voice, “Daddy… when is Mommy coming home? Did she stop wanting us?”
Jason stood frozen, the words piercing straight through him.
Will Scarlet ever come back?
Even he didn’t know the answer.
