Chapter 25 Twist–Nova Tore Off the Mask!
“Nova?” Kael’s patience was wearing thin.[]
Sloane couldn’t hide her smile and said meaningfully, “Mr. Voss, did something happen to Ms. Hale inside? I’ve waited a while, and she still hasn’t come out!”]
Sure enough. Kael’s face darkened visibly. He clenched his fist.]
Something happen? More like she was with Corin!]]
Lesing all patience, he furrowed his brows tightly, his gaze landing on the hairpin in Sloane’s hair–he pulled it out, straightened it, and jammed it into the keyhole…]
Bang! The door flew open.[]
Kael’s eyes immediately landed on Nova, huddled on the sofa. Her eyes and cheeks were red, like a wronged little cat.[]
Their gazes met.]
He frowned, heart aching uncontrollably.
But then he clenched his fist–for the first time, he ignored her feelings and searched the room for someone else.[]
Sloane’s joy was almost written on her face. She wanted him to find Corin quickly.[]
Behind them, the sound of rummaging filled the air. Kael’s frantic searching was harsh to the ear–like slaps to Nova’s face. It was as if she’d done something unforgivable.[]
Nova’s eyes trembled, heart tight with pain.]
How pathetic.]
This was the man she’d loved for years. In the end, he didn’t even have basic trust in her–only suspicion!]
Kael searched for a long time, but found no trace of a man–no male items at all]
They’d hidden well]]
With a stormy face, he walked to Nova, standing over her like he was interrogating a criminal. “Nova, are you alone?”
“Else what?” Nova sniffled, looking up at him.[]
Tears glistened in her eyes. “Did you come just to think I cheated on you?]
“Kael don’t you trust me?“]]
Kael was stunned. Pain flashed across his face–he couldn’t bear to see Nova wronged.[]
When she softened, when she lowered her head, he always gave in. He closed his eyes, reaching out to wipe her tears. “Nova…”
Sloane stepped forward in a hurry. “Ms. Hale, I came to talk about work. You were in the room–why didn’t you open the door for so long? What were you doing?“]} Exactly. Why not open the door?]
So much time–anything could have happened!]
Karl lifted his eyes, his gaze falling on the glaringly obvious bed []
Maybe they tangled up there just minutes ago!
He touched Nova’s soft cheek, but his tone was cold as ice. “Why didn’t you open the door? What were you doing in here?”]
Nova’s heart skipped a beat, feeling Kaels anger []
The hand that once hugged her, protected her–now it felt like a shackle
Sloane smiled secretly, a glint in her eyes []
Back when you were gone ten or fifteen days at a time,” Nuva suddenly said softly, “I waited for you alone at home, I called, texted–but you always replied late..“[] Koel froze.[]

Nova pushed his hand away, bowing her head and sobbing quietly. “People told me you cheated. That business trips were vacations with another woman… I knew you wouldn’t, but it still hurt.]]
“I just wanted you to feel the same. I didn’t want you to… ignore me.”[]
She curled up, hugging herself–small and fragile.[]
“Nova Guilt and remorse flooded Kael, his heart feeling like it was breaking.[]
He didn’t care about anything else–he knelt down and pulled her into his arms, wanting to cradle her.[]
What have I done? Wasted time with a mistress, left Nova alone and sad…]
No wonder she’s so quiet now, no longer clinging to me.[]
Nova’s eyes filled with tears as she said, “I don’t know who sent that message to stir us up. But how could I ever hurt you? Kael, trust me.”
His Adam’s apple bobbing, he held her tightly, overwhelmed with regret for believing Sloane’s lies as he said, “It’s my fault.“[]
The tense atmosphere shifted instantly.[]
Sloane frowned hard. How could this be?
She cried out anxiously, “Mr. Voss, this room-”

“Enough!” Kael shot her a cold glare. “Nova is your superior. You’ve disrespected her repeatedly, and now you’re lying! Get out!“]]
Sloane froze. It was the first time Kael had yelled at her like this–no regard for her pride.[]
She bit her bleeding lip, glaring hatefully at Nova.[]
But Nova gave her a cunning smile.]
Sloane was furious. All her scheming had backfired–she’d lost everything![]
She’d underestimated Nova![]
Kael didn’t even look at her. He knelt down, gently putting shoes on Nova, then took her hand to leave.[]
Sloane’s eyes were about to pop out
She clenched her hands tight, then spoke up suddenly, “Mr. Voss, look under the cabinet! Isn’t that a man’s belt?”
She pointed to the TV cabinet’s bottom–a dark shadow, something metallic.]
Kael and the others looked over… Sam, ever observant, walked over and picked it up. It was indeed a man’s belt!]]
Hidden so well–obviously left after something.
Nova s temples throbbed it felt like the air had frozen.[]
Shed Judden all of Corin’s things! How did this get here?]]
She realized something, her eyes narrowing at Sloane
Sloane sneered, feigning surprise, Ms. Hale, why do you have a man’s belt here?“]]
“Nova, arent you going to explain this?” Kael turned to her, his grip on her hand tightened noticeably.[]
Nova’s face turned pale, and her mind was a mess–this was too sudden
“Oh. Ms. Hale,” Sloane said, covering her mouth in shock. “Did you… hide these things when you wouldn’t open the door?[]
“Could someone still be in the room?
“How could you lie to Mr. Voss like this…”
Karl’s face was dark as he signaled to Sam to keep searching “Don’t miss a single corner.”

“That’s not what happened…” Nova was frantic.]]
“Where’s your explanation?” Kael’s eyes were red.[]
Nova opened her mouth, pale and speechless.[]
No cameras, no proof. The more she explained, the guiltier she’d look.[]
Sloane watched with amusement.[]
Good thing she’d come prepared–this time, she’d take Nova down for good.
Sam walked toward the window. Any second now, he’d pull back the curtains–and see Corin hiding on the balcony.[]
What should I do? Panic surged through Nova. She couldn’t imagine the consequences![]
“Why did you lie to me?” Kael pressed closer, his arm around her waist–tight enough to hurt.[]
That question pushed Nova over the edge.[]
He’d fooled around with Sloane, and now he had the nerve to question her?]]
She’d had enough. She wanted to tear off the mask and face him head–on![]
