Chapter 4
“Get out.” Martin’s voice left no room for discussion.
Ethan looked at his enraged father, then glanced at me, coldly indifferent, and at his girlfriend, trembling in his arms. Finally, he gritted his teeth and took Violet by the hand, leading her out of
the house.
As soon as the door closed behind them, the strength I’d been holding onto completely shattered,
and tears filled my eyes.
Carol pulled me into her arms and sighed softly.
“Good girl, my dear daughter, I’m sorry you had to endure that.”
After that day, Ethan didn’t come home for several days, or contact me.
I heard that Violet had thrown tantrums for days, accusing me of bullying her and saying that the
Collins family was biased.
Ethan seemed to have argued with her a few more times, but it appeared they eventually made up.
But when he brought Violet back home again, things felt noticeably different.
Martin and Carol were polite but distant with her.
Violet apologized and toned down her behavior. At least she didn’t openly cause trouble for me anymore. But her gaze toward me was now filled with even more malice.
She shifted her focus elsewhere.
For example, she started to insert herself more into Ethan’s social circle, trying to drive a wedge
between him and me.
Most of Ethan’s friends knew my identity, and we had grown up together. They weren’t impressed with Violet’s antics.
Sometimes, they would quietly tell me, “Amelia, your future sister–in–law is at it again, Yesterday, she made a fuss and insisted that Ethan couldn’t come to our gathering because you
were there,”
“She’s been asking around about your past.”

When it revealed her sister lying underneath her husband, her hands flew to her mouth

I didn’t bother to respond, continuing with my tasks.
But she was relentless and moved closer to me, lowering her voice in a venomous tone.
“Don’t get too cocky, Amelia.”
“You think the Collins family actually cares about you? It’s all just for show.”
“Do you want to know what will happen if I reveal to all the guests that the ‘foster daughter‘ has been secretly lusting after her own brother?”
“That you’ve been staying in this house, refusing to leave, and even wanted to be a child bride, do you think the Collins family will still want you as their daughter?”
I looked up sharply and met her gaze. She wore a wild, yet triumphant smile.
“If I can’t have it good, neither will you. We’ll see how this plays out.”
I looked at Violet’s twisted face, and my heart sank.
She was clearly ready to throw caution to the wind.
I had no doubt she’d cause trouble at my graduation party.
For a moment, I panicked, but that feeling was quickly replaced by an even stronger wave of
anger.
Time and again, I had tolerated her actions, only to receive more of her advances and disrespect.
Did she really think I was a pushover, with no temper?
Did she really think she could get away with anything in the Collins family just by being difficult and twisting the truth?
“Violet.” I looked at her, my voice calm. “Here’s a warning: think about the consequences before you act,”
Violet sneered, “Trying to scare me? Amelia, other than tattling, what else can you do?”
“I don’t need to tattle.” I smiled softly, “I’m just telling it like it is.”
“By the way, here’s some advice: those who wrong others will eventually face the consequences. Think about that.”

With that, I didn’t look at her again. I turned and walked away.
I knew warnings were useless at this point.
I had to do something to stop her from ruining the graduation party Martin and Carol had worked
so hard to prepare for me.
More importantly, I couldn’t let her ruin the Collins family’s reputation.
I didn’t immediately go to my parents or Ethan.
Instead, I found Martin’s special assistant, Daniel Roberts, who had watched me grow up.
I briefly explained the situation and asked him for a favor.
After listening, Daniel’s face darkened, and he immediately nodded.
“Don’t worry, Amelia. I know exactly what to do.”
