“Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

Charles frowned, his voice low and firm.
To bolster his argument, he explained Daniel’s current condition.
“Daniel has a rare illness. The medication prescribed by the doctors has always been more or less effective. This time, it’s likely the injury worsened his condition, causing a relapse within half a month… What are you doing?”
As Charles spoke, he saw Emily suddenly pull open Daniel’s shirt.
Emily could tell that Charles genuinely cared for Daniel. His reminder made her recall the incident when Daniel got injured.
However…
Emily frowned.
The injury indeed worsened his condition, but it also made it easier for someone to poison him.
It wasn’t just the injury causing his weakened state, as Charles suggested.
Charles knew how many women were eager to get close to Daniel, so his first reaction to Emily’s actions was to think she was taking advantage of him.
If his hands weren’t incapacitated, he might have already intervened.
Ignoring Charles’s suspicions, Emily leaned in closer to examine the extent and nature of the wound’s infection.
In her focus, she didn’t notice the jade pendant Daniel had given her as a token of his promise slipping from her neck.
“Guards, arrest this fake doctor! And you, stop immediately, or you’ll face consequences you can’t handle!”
Charles shouted for help, his voice filled with threats as he saw Emily getting even closer.
“Shut up!” Emily, having been reborn, wouldn’t tolerate any injustice.
With a swift motion, she silenced Charles with a silver needle.
Charles opened his mouth but found he couldn’t make a sound. Unable to remove the silver needle, he could only glare at Emily with fierce eyes.
Emily pressed on Daniel’s wound, causing a slight bleed. The blood wasn’t bright red but had a dark hue.
The poison seemed to have penetrated deep into his system.
She was so focused on her examination that she didn’t notice Daniel slowly opening his eyes.

His vision was blurry at first, but the familiar jade pendant swinging before him gradually came into focus.
Finally, he looked up and saw those calm, clear eyes.
Emily finished her examination, stood up, and calmly removed the silver needle from Charles’s face.
Ignoring his murderous glare, she spoke indifferently, “Do you want treatment or not? Think carefully before you answer. My fees are high, and if you refuse, the fifty million dollars won’t be refunded.”
She mentioned fifty million dollars as if it were just five dollars.
Charles frowned, “How will you treat him? Can you guarantee a cure? Otherwise, I suspect you’re a fraud.”
Emily frowned.
In her past life, she was constantly doubted.
Now, facing such skepticism again, she turned cold and was about to leave, “If you believe, I’ll treat. If not, I won’t. In that case, I…”
“Do it!”
A deep, hoarse voice came from the bed, magnetic and authoritative.
It drew the attention of Emily, Charles, and the guards Charles had called in.
“You’re awake? Then you decide.”
Emily’s tone softened.
Given that he hadn’t killed her to silence her that day and had even given her a promise, she had more patience and leniency for him.
“Do it. I trust you.”
Daniel spoke again, his voice weak but his deep eyes unwavering.
She was the girl from the hospital that day. If she wanted to harm him, she wouldn’t need to be so roundabout.
That day, she had a much better opportunity.
However, the fact that the Johnson family’s daughter was a doctor was indeed surprising!
Emily didn’t expect him to be so unguarded with her.
But she didn’t dwell on it. Treating a patient who cooperates was always the best approach.
Charles frowned and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you sure you can cure him?”
Emily replied, “I’ll give it my best shot.”

“Do you know who you’re dealing with? How can you just try? If you’re not confident…”
“Charles, shut up! Listen to the doctor,” Daniel interrupted, stopping Charles’s continued questioning.
Emily smirked slightly. Having such a cooperative patient was a pleasure for any doctor.
She glanced at Charles.
Before starting the acupuncture, she softened a bit, considering his genuine concern for his friend, and said, “Eighty percent chance.”
“I mean, full recovery!”

She paused deliberately before adding.
Charles was incredulous, then overjoyed, “Are you serious?”
This illness had tormented Daniel for years. If it could be cured, even a billion dollars would be worth it, let alone following her lead in the future.
Emily didn’t know Charles’s thoughts. Otherwise, she might have found it an appealing proposal.
Instead of answering Charles, Emily pulled open Daniel’s shirt and swiftly and accurately placed silver needles around the wound.
Charles knew that interrupting a doctor during treatment was taboo.
Now that she had started, he could only wait quietly for the results.
As Emily placed the last needle, Daniel bit his lip to stifle a groan.
But his brows relaxed.
He could clearly feel the suffocating weight of the illness easing.
He felt noticeably lighter.
This made his deep gaze linger on Emily, who was focused on her treatment.
Through the mask, knowing her serene and ethereal appearance, he couldn’t help but imagine her face with that same focused and calm expression.
“Hang in there!”
Emily warned as she finished the last needle.
She then used a silver needle to prick Daniel’s finger and placed a glass container from her medical kit under it.
Blood dripped from the cut.
Charles leaned in closer, frowning.

The blood wasn’t red but a deep black with a hint of blue.
He was now certain it was poison.
As the small bottle filled, the blood gradually turned red.
Emily pressed a needle at a specific point, and the bleeding stopped almost instantly.
If Charles had any doubts before, he was now slowly convinced that Emily was indeed a doctor.
Emily quickly wrote a prescription.

“Gather these herbs and give them to me. I’ll prepare the medicine for him. After detoxification, with proper care, he should be as healthy as any other person.”
If this were true, it would be a joyous occasion for Daniel.
Charles took the prescription, his hands trembling with excitement.
However, seeing the required herbs, he showed some concern, “Everything else is fine, but Celestial Ginseng and Golden Saffron Essence are… How long can Daniel wait?”
Emily recalled where she could find these herbs in her past life, her eyes flickering.
She suggested, “I can temporarily suppress the poison for three months. Of course, I can also procure the herbs, but that will be an additional cost.”
Charles opened his mouth, wanting to curse her for being so greedy.
But a knock on the door interrupted, “Mr. Green, Mr. Smith’s daily medication has arrived. Should I bring it in now?”
“Bring it in, Charles decided to continue with the medication that had been providing relief.
However, as the butler opened the bottle to give Daniel the medicine, Emily suddenly knocked it to the ground.
Before the butler and Charles could react in anger, she put on gloves from her medical kit and picked up the medicine.
Is there something wrong with the medicine?” Charles asked, his eyes flashing with uncertainty.
