All throughout class, Kayla felt an intense stare boring into her back. It was like a thorn lodged beneath her skin, impossible to ignore.
She slowly turned her head, following the sensation. Her eyes locked with Marianna’s, who was glaring at her with pure venom.
At that moment, Kayla flashed a strange, chilling smile. It was the kind of smile that made the air around her feel ten degrees colder.
Marianna froze, a shiver running down her spine before she quickly dropped her gaze and looked away.
The second the bell rang, Marianna didn’t waste a second. She rushed out and waited by the hallway exit, cornering Kayla just as she walked out of the restroom.
This time, though, Marianna had learned her lesson. She wasn’t stupid enough to drag Kayla into a quiet, empty space again.
Kayla glanced at Marianna lazily, folding her arms across her chest. “Back at the restroom again? What’s up? Didn’t get your fill yesterday?”
Her voice was light, but the words were razor–sharp–cutting straight to the bone, dragging up Marianna’s humiliation from the day before without mercy.
Marianna’s lips trembled with rage as she remembered how Kayla humiliated her yesterday. Her eyes flicked toward a figure lingering in the corner of the hallway.
Then she quickly turned back, voice quivering with emotion as she blurted out, “What you did to me yesterday was already disgusting enough, but how could you do that to Dav?”
Kayla raised her brows and thought, ‘Wow, they are already that close? I once offered to call him “Dav“, but he wouldn’t let me, especially in public.
‘But Marianna’s been here for a few weeks, and she’s already tossing around nicknames like they’ve been together for years. I really was blind back then.‘
She let out a soft chuckle and asked, “Dav? And who might that be?”
Marianna was caught off guard. “Don’t play dumb. You know who I mean. Davon from Class A.”
“Ohhh, Davon Ortiz, huh?” Kayla dragged out the name, her tone smooth but layered with something darker. “Didn’t know you two were so tight already.”
Before Marianna could respond, Kayla glanced back toward the figure in the corner and gave a mocking laugh. “But who cares? Did I do anything evil that you had to ambush me over it? Oh my, don’t tell me… he
died,”
Marianna’s eyes went wide in shock. She pointed a shaky finger at Kayla and raised her voice. “How could you say something so awful? Last night, because you wouldn’t let Day ride in your car, he…”

She looked around and added. He had to walk home in that rom. He got caught in the rain, got sick, and now he’s got a fever He couldn’t even focus in class today
“Day’s one of the top students in the whole school. He’s aiming for a top–10 university You didn’t just hurt him. It him the whole school’s image, you know?”
Kayla let out a snort, thinking. Davon caught a cold? Is he so weak? What a pity no lightning struck him down. Guess roaches really are hard to kill. And now I’m responsible for the school’s reputation roo? Please
She folded her arms and tilted her head slightly, looking past Marianna toward the shivering figure in the corner. Her smirk grew wider.
With a step forward, Kayla closed the space between them. Her chest brushed against Marianna’s outstretched hand as she leaned in, her eyes glittering with disdain. “Just a cold? It’s not like he got diagnosed with something terminal.
“And if a little fever’s enough to tank his college dreams, maybe he’s not cut out for those schools anyway. It’s not my problem, okay?”
