Kayla immediately crossed her arms over her chest, staring at the doctor warily, her face tense with vigilance. “Isn’t this just to look at a wound? Why do I need to lift my shirt?”
The doctor was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. “How can I examine you if you don’t? How else am I supposed to check on the baby’s condition?
“Wait, you said you have a wound? A tear? Then you do need to take off your pants so I can see how serious it is.”
‘Please don’t be a corpus luteum rupture, she thought. She was already mentally preparing to call the police. Whoever had hurt a minor deserved to be brought to justice.
Kayla’s confusion deepened, her face a picture of bewilderment. “What… what baby? Is there a baby in this room? And a tear…?”
Though she was a high school student, Kayla had lived again. Her mind was far more mature than most her instantly realized what the doctor was implying.
Is it really what I think it is?‘ The doctor shook her head helplessly at Kayla’s “dazed” look.
age. She
She said. “Didn’t your medical record show the baby was a month old? You’re in the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department. So, just be honest with me.
“Let me check on you first, then you can decide whether to keep the baby or not. We can arrange the abortion for you.”
A loud buzz filled Kayla’s head. The doctor’s words replayed in her mind like a flickering film reel,
Gynecology & Obstetrics Department? The baby? Abortion? Tear?
Every word hit her like a bolt of lightning, leaving her reeling. She shuddered violently.
“Am I in the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department?” Kayla bit her lip. She felt so awkward that she wished she could just
vanish.
The doctor nodded. “Yes. You signed up for this appointment yourself. Didn’t you know?”
“Okay, let’s not waste time,” she continued. “I know this is hard to accept, but now that it’s happened, you need to plan ahead. You’re still so young. You can barely support yourself, let alone a baby.
“Don’t worry. If someone raped you, I’ll help. We can call the police and arrest that bastard who hurt you, making him pay for it!”
Kayla felt speechless. She’d rushed in only to avoid Payton, never knowing this was the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department.
She forced an awkward smile and waved her hands frantically. “Doctor, you misunderstood! I’m not pregnant. I just walked into the wrong room. I’m leaving now. Sorry to disturb you!”
The doctor frowned. “Wrong room? Isn’t your name Amara Weaver?”
Kayla denied it instantly. “No, that’s not me…”
Like a mouse fleeing a cat, Kayla practically ran out the door, hurrying to escape the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department.

No matter how the doctor called after her, she didn’t look back–leaving the doctor to shake her head helplessly. Did this kid really mix up the rooms, or is she just pretending? Pregnancy is no trivial matter.”
Kayla ran as fast as she could, as if her tail were on fire.
But in her rush to get out of the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department, she didn’t notice an acquaintance standing not far away, who’d been filming every move she made.
As Marianna watched the video on her phone, her gaze remained fixed on the words “Gynaecology & Obstetrics Department” printed on the door. Confusion and suspicion clouded her face.
She mused. Why did Kayla come to the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department? Did she do something shady? Is that why she looked so flustered?‘
At the thought, a glint of delight flashed in Marianna’s eyes. She turned and walked toward the Gynaecology & Obstetrics Department.
