Kayla raised an eyebrow as she glanced at the first person to apologize. 

‘No clue if they actually mean it or if they’re just covering their ass,‘ she thought.

But honestly, she wasn’t trying to make enemies of everyone here. Since this person had the guts to step up first, she didn’t mind throwing them a bone and giving them an out. 

Kayla’s voice cut through the tension. “You’re Ryan Fairfax from Class F, right? I got your apology. We’re good now–just make sure you actually follow through from now on.” 

Ryan hadn’t expected Kayla to actually know his name. For a second, he looked genuinely stunned, then surprised–and honestly, he couldn’t help but feel oddly pleased. 

He nodded firmly, his voice sincere. “Don’t worry. I got it.” 

Without another word, he turned and walked off. Kayla didn’t try to stop him. 

The others watching exchanged glances, their eyes lighting up with hope. 

Just a moment ago, they’d thought apologizing in front of the whole group would be beyond embarrassing- and were terrified Kayla would put them on the spot and leave them no way to save face. 

‘Wait, that’s it?‘ they thought. 

Suddenly, people were lining up to apologize to Kayla, scrambling to make amends. She just shot each one a cold look and didn’t get in their way. 

Finally, only Marianna and Davon remained. 

Marianna bit her lip, acutely aware of the handful of students still lingering to watch the drama unfold. Anger simmered in her chest. 

‘Damn it,‘ she thought bitterly. ‘I wanted everyone to stand together against her. That way, even if Kayla was innocent, she wouldn’t dare do anything if we all refused to apologize. 

But Kayla had been ruthless. She’d stood her ground against everyone, even threatened them with the Sexton family’s power just to force these apologies. 

This was a far cry from the Kayla of old, who used to keep things low–key and never once leveraged her family’s influence. 

What stung the most was seeing how utterly spineless the others were–they just folded and grovelled before Kayla, no pride at all. 

Now it was just her and Davon standing here like idiots. ‘Do I really have to apologize to her?‘ Marianna thought, her jaw clenching. 

Kayla toyed with the dagger in her hand, turning it over slowly between her fingers before stepping

“You’re the only ones left,” she said, her voice carrying an edge sharp as the blade she held. “Apologize 

Marianna clenched her jaw so hard her teeth ached, her eyes burning red as she glared at Kayla. The humiliation was suffocating–a physical weight pressing down on her chest. 

“Does it have to be like this, Kayla?” Her voice cracked slightly despite her efforts to sound defiant. “Do you really need to push this far?” 

A cold smile curved Kayla’s lips, and she let out a short, mocking laugh that sent a chill through the air. 

You argued when you had no ground to stand on. Why shouldn’t I push when I’m right?” She paused, letting the words sink in like a blade between ribs. “Stop stalling. Apologize.” 

Davon winced, fighting through the throbbing pain in his wrist as he moved closer to Marianna. 

His voice came out strained, resentful. “Kayla, that’s enough. It’s just an apology, right? I’ll apologize for Maria. Show me some respect. Don’t take this too far. Leave Maria alone.” 

Something dark flickered in Kayla’s eyes. She was beyond sick of Davon’s pathetic attempts at playing hero. Without hesitation, she raised her hand and delivered a sharp slap across his face, the sound echoing through the tense air as his head snapped to the side. 

“Who the hell do you think you are?” she spat. “You think you deserve my respect?” 

The slap left Davon stunned, his mind going blank for a split second. Then reality crashed back–the sting on his cheek, the humiliation burning hotter than the physical pain. ‘She hit me. In front of everyone. Again.” Shame twisted into fury in his chest. 

“Kayla, you hit me again.” His voice cracked with rage. “You’re dead!” 

He lunged forward, fists clenched. 

Kayla was about to throw a kick herself, but suddenly a dark blur shot past–Payton was quicker, slamming a hard kick into Davon before she could even blink. Payton’s voice rang out, cold and sharp as a knife. 

“Hitting a girl, Davon?” His tone was dangerously calm. “Where the hell do you get off?”
