Chapter 44 Satisfaction–Kael Got DestroyedÂ
Halfway to her destination, Nova told the driver to stop.Â
She was in a hurry to meet Corin, and she didn’t want the driver to report back to Kael–another fight was the last thing she needed.Â
She lied casually, “I need to stop by the mall to buy something. You can go back first. I’ll take a taxi home later.”Â
The driver looked hesitant. “Mr. Voss told me to take you home…”Â
Nova didn’t want to make it hard for him. “It’s okay. I’ll call Kael and tell him.” Reluctantly, the driver agreed.Â
After the car left, Nova really did go to the mall. From a hidden spot nearby, the driver watched her enter, then reported to Kael before leaving.Â
Inside the mall, Nova headed straight to the men’s section. She bought a black suit and a pair of obsidian cufflinks.Â
She knew the suit Corin had worn last time was custom–made–she couldn’t find the exact same one, so she picked the closest match.Â
The sales clerk chatted as she helped, “Ma’am, you and your husband must have such a sweet relationship! You were so careful picking out his clothes!”Â
Nova paused, a faint flush rising to her cheeks. “He’s not my husband. I’m buying this for a… friend.”Â
‘Oh!” The clerk smiled. “A boyfriend, then!”Â
Nova coughed, realizing she was only making it worse. She forced a smile, but it felt bitter and sad.Â
she used to buy suits for Kael too–carefully choosing every detail: ties, cufflinks, suits, shoes. She’d iron and match them perfectly, day after day. It was tiring; her hands had been burned countless times by the iron. But thinking about dressing the man she loved, all the tiredness had turned to sweetness.Â
Jntil she’d smelled perfume on his clothes, until she’d seen faint lipstick stains on his shirts.Â
After that, she’d never bought him another suit. She didn’t want to humiliate herself.Â
Nova swallowed the bitter taste in her throat, picked out a tie, paid, and left–then took a taxi to the Royal Fencing Club.Â
Cael was both a member and an investor of the Royal Fencing Club.Â
he manager rushed down to greet him, his smile obsequious. “Mr. Voss! Why didn’t you call ahead? I would’ve prepared a proper welcome!”Â
Cael was rarely gentle with anyone but Nova. To others, he was always cold and impatient.Â
le adjusted his slightly wrinkled cuff, his voice sharp. “Take me to Room 001.” He strode toward the entrance.Â
he manager’s face paled, cold sweat dripping down his forehead.Â
loom 001 was occupied by a VIP who’d strictly ordered no disturbances.Â
Mr. Voss, wait–Room 001 is taken. Maybe we can use another room-”Â
Cael gave him a cold glare. The manager’s legs turned to jelly. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place–he couldn’t afford to offend either man.Â
Y–you way, sir…” He stepped aside, defeated.Â
Kael walked inside, boarding the private elevator.Â
Corin had just finished his meeting with the client. He checked his watch–Nova would be here soon. Bored, he picked up a fencing sword and started practicing.Â
Suddenly, the door slammed open.Â

Thinking it was Nova, he turned toward the entrance, a faint smile tugging at his lips before he even realized it. “You’re-”Â
The smile froze when he saw Karl’s hostile eyes.Â
Corin’s expression darkened, a silent fury rising within him.Â
Kael glanced around casually, acting like he owned the place.Â
He walked in, spreading his hands with a smirk. “Mr. Thorne, practicing alone? No one to spar with?”Â
He picked up a sword from the rack, twirling it skillfully–clearly, he’d practiced before.Â
“If you don’t mind, I’ll be your opponent.”Â
He paused, then looked back at Corin, his smile sharp. “Oh, right–I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Kael Voss, Nova’s husband and CEO of Voss Group. We’ve worked together before.”Â
His tone was mocking, filled with hidden threats and condescension.Â
Corin was too smart to miss it. A strange sense of humiliation washed over him.Â
Corin’s eyes turned icy as he narrowed them, locking gazes with Kael across the room.Â
Maybe it was a man’s instinct–he found himself sizing Kael up. This is the man Nova loves? The one she instinctively leans on?Â
‘Afraid you’ll lose, Mr. Thorne?” Kael taunted, his eyes sharp as blades.Â
The air in the room grew tense, thick with rivalry.Â
They were roughly the same height, but their styles were polar opposites–Corin was calm and cold, Kael arrogant and aggressive. Like ice and fire, they clashed he moment they stood together.Â
The staff in the room held their breath, trembling with fear.Â
Corin smiled–a cold, humorless smile.Â
He waved a hand, dismissing everyone. “Since Mr. Voss is so eager, how could I refuse?”Â
Cael’s eyes narrowed. In an instant, he swung his sword, aiming straight for Corin–his intent to harm was clear.Â
How could he not hate Corin?Â
f not for him, he and Nova would never have grown apart. His Nova would never have been so cold to him.Â
Corin’s eyes turned cold. He was no pushover–he parried Kael’s attacks effortlessly. “You didn’t come just to spar, did you, Mr. Voss?”Â
Cael swung his sword hard, his voice laced with warning. “I heard you’re from Seattle, Mr. Thorne. The Thorne family has a strong business there. You should to back and run your family’s company… stop messing with people you shouldn’t.”Â
Corin’s jaw tightened, his expression unchanged, “Oh? And who, exactly, shouldn’t I mess with?”Â
This is New York, not Seattle.” It was a blatant threat.Â
Kael attacked more fiercely, leaving Corin no room to counter. “Nova and I have been together since high school. We got married right after college. What do you think you’re doing, inserting yourself between us?Â
We’re both men. Some things are better left unsaid–they get ugly when brought into the light.Â
‘I assume you’re smart enough to know what’s best for you.”Â
His words were cruel, designed to wound Corin’s pride.Â
Corin’s face darkened.Â

You lose Kael raised his sword, aiming for Corin’s throat.Â
Corin’s expression turned deadly. In the blink of an eye, he counterattacked, stopping his sword a centimeter from Kael’s forehead, his voice cold. “I think you’re jumping to conclusions, Mr. Voss.”Â
Kael froze, then stared at the sword inches from his face, fire in his eyes.Â
Corin lowered his sword calmly, his jaw set. “You talk about how much you love your wife… but why don’t you trust her? Could it be that your marriage is already falling apart?”Â
Kael’s face turned ugly. He hated hearing the word “falling apart” -especially from Corin, the man he blamed for it all.Â
He sneered, “That’s between Nova and me. She loves me, and I won’t let anyone covet her. What do you know, an outsider?”Â
At the word “loves,” Corin’s throat tightened. He gripped his sword harder.Â
But he quickly pushed down the unwanted emotion. “Nova and I are innocent. The innocent have nothing to hide. If you still doubt us, there’s nothing I can doÂ
Kael scoffed, “Then remember what you said today. Stay away from her! Know your place!“.Â
The mocking tone made Corin’s eyes darken. “Me? Inserting myself? When she was walking alone at night with no phone, no way to call a taxi–where wereÂ
you?Â
‘When she was attacked by thugs on her way home–where were you?”Â
Every word was like a slap to Kael’s face.Â
Kael’s face darkened with rage.Â
Corin scoffed, his gaze sharp as he looked down at Kael. “So this is the ‘love‘ you keep bragging about? Pathetic!”Â
Kael’s jaw tightened, his irritation flaring at the jab. He shot back, “This has nothing to do with you! Who do you think you are, judging me?”Â
These words hit Corin like a bucket of cold water. He froze, a bitter laugh echoing in his mind. Right. Who am I to judge?Â
He had no claim to interfere.Â
ust then, a knock sounded at the door.Â
Corin frowned, a sudden twinge of anxiety shooting through him.Â
He glanced at the clock on the wall–11 AM already. The only person who’d come knocking at this hour… it had to be Nova.Â
Cael’s senses sharpened, too. VIP rooms were strictly off–limits to interruptions. Could it be…Â
A terrible thought crossed his mind.Â
His expression turned stormy, and he strode toward the door before Corin could stop him.Â
