“I… I…No, I am not!” 

Bianca’s face went ghostly white, trembling uncontrollably. This time, it wasn’t an act. She’d heard the stories about Daniel’s ruthless nature. No one who crossed him ever came out unscathed.

James noticed Bianca seemed on the brink of a relapse from her old illness. He didn’t dare stay any longer and risk angering Daniel. Seizing the moment, he said, “Daniel, I’m sorry, but it looks like Bianca’s old illness is flaring up. I need to get her to a doctor right away. We won’t bother you anymore. Take care.” 

With that, he supported Bianca and hurried out of the room like they were fleeing from a demon. 

Emily watched them leave in such a pitiful state and couldn’t help but laugh heartily. 

“Having fun?” Daniel’s voice was low and casual. He leaned back naturally, a stark contrast to his usual serious demeanor. His deep, soulful eyes were captivating without him even realizing it. 

Emily’s heart raced. She had almost forgotten Daniel was there in her moment of triumph. Suppressing her excitement, she smiled, “Not bad. But Mr. Smith, you must have found it amusing too.” 

“It’s not a joke! At your age, you should laugh freely and without restraint,” Daniel said as casually as if he were talking about the 

weather. 

Emily almost teared up. It seemed he had noticed how burdened and devoid of self she had been living. In her past life, she had been. In this life, because of the pain from her past, even though she no longer lived for others, she still lived heavily. 

What was it like to live freely? She had never experienced it. But his words reminded her. Since she was living for herself, she should live more freely. In this life, she was only eighteen! 

“Daniel, thank you!” At this moment, she addressed Daniel as a kindred spirit and gave him a genuine smile. 

Daniel was taken aback. Then, the corners of his lips lifted slightly. Indeed, she was a perceptive girl who understood his words. 

“You saved me again. Shouldn’t I be thanking you, Emily?” He smiled and looked into Emily’s eyes. Both of them couldn’t help but laugh. 

‘Daniel, are you okay? When I saw the news about your accident, I was scared to death. I rushed over as fast as I could…” Charles came running in, his voice preceding him. 

“Shit…” He swallowed the curse under Daniel’s warning gaze. Charles was reacting this way because he had just walked in and saw Daniel smiling. And at a girl, no less. He even wondered if he had entered the wrong room. Rubbing his eyes, he confirmed it was Daniel, so he almost let out a curse. 

He looked Emily up and down. Indeed, she was quite pretty. And she seemed even more beautiful than the last time he saw her. But she was so young! 

“Hey, Ms. Johnson. How did you end up in the same car as Daniel? Does this mean you’ve been through thick and thin together? Any thoughts on that?” Charles smiled, probing. 

Emily frowned. Did he think she was trying to seduce Daniel? She suppressed all her emotions and said calmly, “Mr. Green, you misunderstand. The reason Mr. Smith and I were together is that both our dogs were sick. We were planning to take them to the vet

Charles was about to ask when Daniel got a dog. Then he remembered. So, Daniel was using the dog to get closer to Emily. Impressive! He couldn’t help but blurt out, “So, Daniel, you just bought a dog, and it’s already sick?” 

“Bought a dog?” Emily looked at Daniel in confusion. 

If she remembered correctly, Daniel had said the dog was a stray and looked pitiful.
