Rebirth: Top Star ActressÂ
Chapter 56Â
24Â
‘You piece of trash…”Â
Rhett tried to get up several times but failed, glaring viciously as he cursed.Â
Emily stepped forward and stomped on his back, causing him to scream in pain.Â
“Say one more word, and I’ll end you!” Emily’s tone sounded more than serious.Â
This threat finally silenced Rhett.Â
Emily, why are you back?”Â
Violette didn’t want Emily to get involved. Rhett was a lowlife, and she herself was already a lost cause. If he bullied her, so be it. But Emily was young and had a bright future ahead. If she got entangled with someone like Rhett, her life would be miserable.Â
Emily gently patted Violette’s hand, reassuring her. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle this.”Â
She first glanced at the onlookers, then fixed her gaze back on Rhett.Â
“The house behind us is mine, not some man’s. Rhett was full of it. This Rhett gambled away a huge sum and is forcing Violette to borrow money, or else he won’t pay back, which would affect Atticus’s chances of becoming a civil servant.”Â
Emily was both clearing Violette’s name and exposing Rhett’s vices.Â
Gambling–anyone with a brain knew what that meant.Â
“A bad man, how dare he show up here?”Â
“Didn’t expect this woman to dress so plainly, yet her niece is so capable. If she’s so capable, why let her aunt live so poorly?”Â
“Money doesn’t grow on trees, especially with a bottomless pit of an uncle. Women need to be independent.”Â
Some people spoke up for Emily, and others scrutinized her closely. They hadn’t seen such a neighbor before; she must have just moved in. Buying a house in this neighborhood wasn’t just about having money.Â
Emily wasn’t aware of this, but smart people were already speculating and deciding not to provoke her until they knew her background.Â
Emily had achieved her goal.Â
“You’re just an eighteen–year–old girl, where would you get the money to buy this house? Who would believe that? You must be in cahoots to scam me… I don’t believe it!”Â
Rhett’s cunning eyes darted around as he immediately retorted.Â
But as soon as he started spewing filth, Emily pressed down harder with her foot.Â
He grimaced in pain but refused to give up. “Or maybe it’s not Violette who latched onto a man, but you. You do have some looks, but atÂ

such a young age, you’re already learning bad things. Just like Violette, you’re a slut! Ouch, you’re hurting me! Be careful, or I’ll call the cops on you!Â

Rhett, in pain, threatened her.Â
“Tell him, am I the owner?”Â
Emily addressed the security and the arriving property manager calmly.Â
The property manager had a good impression of Emily. A particularly beautiful eighteen–year–old Violette had caught Daniel’s eye, and he had sold her the house, even instructing the property management to take special care of her.Â
The property manager stepped forward respectfully. “Ms. Johnson, of course, you are the owner of this house.”Â
Rhett was stunned. Emily was indeed the owner of the villa.Â
Could it be that the Johnson family bought it for her?Â
Wasn’t she supposed to be disliked by her family?Â
None of that mattered now. Since Emily had money to buy a house, she must have money to give him.Â
Seeing how she respected Violette, she would probably give him money.Â
Rhett immediately changed his tone. “Emily, we’re family. I misunderstood Violette, that’s why I got so angry. It’s because I care about Violette, you know?”Â
Emily remained silent, wanting to see what Rhett would say next.Â
Violette knew Rhett too well and quickly spoke up, “Don’t even think about targeting Emily. She doesn’t have money for you. Come back with me, and we’ll figure something else out.”Â
Rhett snorted, “Shut up. I’m talking, not you. Emily, don’t listen to Violette. She’s just a woman with limited knowledge. I’m trying to pay off the debt quickly to avoid being blacklisted, which would affect Atticus’s chances of becoming a civil servant. Help me out, and I’ll remember your kindness!”Â
He was used to being arrogant.Â
Even now, he instinctively treated Violette poorly.Â
He didn’t realize that Emily’s willingness to help him depended on Violette.Â
As for Atticus, she cared about him, too.Â
But her main concern was Violette.Â
Emily sneered, “With your attitude towards Violette, you still expect me to help you? Dream on. As for Atticus, becoming a civil servant is a good path, but it’s not the only one. I don’t think Atticus would want to sacrifice Violette just for a civil servant position. Atticus, what do you think?”Â

Chapter 56Â
Atticus had already been considering not pursuing a career in civil service. Without hesitation, he said, “Mom, I actually think it’s too difficult. I was planning to give up!*Â
“You brat, you dare not take the exam? You must take it! I can’t be blacklisted.”Â
Rhett immediately scolded.Â
If Emily weren’t stepping on him, he would have jumped up to hit Atticus.Â
Emily frowned, about to speak.Â
Rhett’s phone rang.Â
He fumbled, and the phone accidentally fell out of his bag.Â
Emily saw the caller ID.Â
“Answer it.”Â

Rhett instinctively obeyed and pressed the answer button.Â
Emily reminded him, “Put it on speaker.”Â
Rhett wanted to argue but was intimidated by Emily’s cold, commanding gaze.Â
He reluctantly put it on speaker.Â
“Rhett, come back quickly! The debt collectors are here, smashing everything. The house is going to be gone. Where’s Violette? Didn’t she go out to borrow money? Why hasn’t she brought it back? Eli has money, but why can’t she get it? Is she doing this on purpose?”Â
The voice on the other end was old but sharp and bitter, first crying for help, then cursing.Â
It was none other than Rhett’s mother, Fallon.Â
Emily’s brows furrowed, her eyes growing darker.Â
Fallon’s immediate insults showed that this was a regular occurrence for Violette.Â
‘Scumbag, tell Rhett to pay up, stop talking nonsense. If you can borrow money, you should be able to pay it back…”Â
Then came the sounds of smashing, followed by a fierce warning.Â
“I’m telling Rhett to get the money. It’s just that I can’t get that much money right now. Stop smashing things, those are worth moneyÂ
too…”Â
Fallon screamed in fear.Â
It seemed the debt collectors had smashed almost everything and were losing patience, grabbing the phone.Â

Chapter 56Â
24Â
“Rhett, if you don’t pay up, I’ll break your arms and legs. Don’t think you can escape. You’ve heard of my reputation. I’ll find you whereverÂ
you go…Â
“Mr. Palmer, yes, yes, I never thought of running away. I just don’t have that much money right now. Can you give me more time?” Rhett, a coward, immediately groveled upon hearing Dean Palmer’s voice.Â
“Stop fooling me. I’ve given you extensions. This time, no more. Prepare yourself–pay up or lose your limbs.”Â
Dean wasn’t in the mood for negotiations, threatening him.Â
Rhett’s face changed. His eyes darted around, landing on Violette and Sofia.Â
He spoke again, “Mr. Palmer, I really can’t get that much money. How about I offer my wife and daughter as collateral? My wife may be older, but she’s still attractive. And my daughter looks like her, turning eighteen soon…”Â
