Garrett’s brain went completely blank for a second, then he EXPLODED. 

“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?” 

The bodyguard was stuttering like crazy but had to keep going. “Mr. Steele, it’s true. Yesterday, less than two hours after Miss Maya got locked up, she jumped. Landed face-first… her body got completely…” 

Garrett’s face went white as paper, his phone shaking in his hands. 

“No way. It CAN’T be…” 

He was mumbling to himself, then lost his shit completely. “I told you idiots to protect her! Why the hell would she jump? Why didn’t anyone tell me until NOW, you useless pieces of shit!” 

“Mr. Steele, we tried calling you so many times…” 

Before he could finish, Carmen grabbed the phone and shut it off, tossing it aside. 

She laughed it off. “Garrett, you actually buying this crap? If Maya was really dead, they’d wait until our wedding to tell you? She just can’t stand you marrying me, so she got your guys to fake it. She lied about saving you for six years-what won’t she lie about? You go back now, you’re walking right into her trap.” 

Garrett calmed down, like her logic actually made sense. That panic in his chest slowly faded. 

Yeah. Maya loves me too much to actually die. She just wants to test me, scare me.” 

He smiled, his voice almost fond. “We made a deal. You get the Mrs. title, Maya gets my heart. First baby’s hers, then I’ll knock you up 

gain. After that, I’m done with you.” 

Carmen smiled and agreed. 

But the second she turned around, pure poison flashed in her eyes. 

Dream on about your happily ever after with Maya. That bitch better have the life for it first. 

Year the end of the ceremony, some guy walked in. 

Which one is Mr. Steele? Got an urgent delivery here. Says it’s a wedding gift for you and your wife.” 

Garrett frowned suspiciously, about to reach for it. 

Carmen saw trouble coming and panicked, snatching it away. “Garrett, this is OUR wedding! Whatever gift it is doesn’t matter more han this ceremony. You promised me-you’re not backing out now, are you?” 

Her guilty behavior made Garrett’s face go cold, his eyes sharp and suspicious. 

“What are you scared of? Give me that thing.” 

“Hell no! It’s definitely that bitch Maya trying to mess up our wedding again. I’m not letting her win!” 

She raised her hand to throw it out the window, but Garrett blocked her. The box hit the corner of a table and everything spilled out.

Photos scattered everywhere across the ballroom floor. 

Instantly, the whole place went dead silent. 

Some guest picked one up, took a look, and his face changed completely. Disgusted looks turned toward Carmen. 

“Holy shit, isn’t that the bride? That’s fucking nasty.” 

“Poor bastard’s not even married yet and he’s already wearing horns. Look at all these pics-she’s been with every guy in town.” 

Someone who knew the inside story whispered, “That’s Steele’s ex. Heard she was screwing his enemies behind his back-that’s why he dumped her. This wedding was supposed to be with Miss Maya. Guy ditches a classy woman for this train wreck? Now look-total slut and he’s still gonna marry her. Balls of steel, I’ll give him that.” 

Carmen was having a complete meltdown. “DON’T LOOK! NONE OF YOU LOOK AT THAT!” 

But nobody gave a shit. 

Someone even found a black USB drive in the pile and handed it to Garrett. 

Garrett immediately had his bodyguard plug it into the big screen.
