“You are there! Get your filthy mits off my mate before I rip you to tiny little shreds.” He roared and a shiver of excitement rippled through my body. 

I could not believe what was happening. 

Was I dreaming? 

“This cannot be happening.” Miller grumbled under his breath, but I heard him. 

This satisfying buzz overwhelm me, and it was so good. 

Miller looked devastated to see that I had been blessed with a second chance mate. 

Well, he did a terrible job of being my first chance mate. He did me favour really and so did Mora. Without them I would never have met this absolute 

hunk. 

“Oh, my goddess!” Zara slapped her mouth with her hand in astonishment causing me to look her way with an excited grin. “The Lycan King Max is 

your mate.” 

It sounded so good. 

Miller stood out of the way, and I was then standing face to face with second chance mate. 

“You are truly beautiful, you are mine.” He reached for me and spun me around before grabbing my waist and pulling me to his chest. 

He smelt so good. 

Uncle Ed was standing in the doorway looking lost in his own thoughts. I knew in that instant that he had heard about my mother. His little sister. He had loved her so much, but they grew apart as they had gotten older. 

“I think you had better leave.” Uncle Ed pointed straight at Miller who shoved his hands into his pockets but refused to give in to that instruction. 

“Isla can come back with me.” Miller was starting to push his luck. 

My mouth fell open in shock. 

Was he for real! 

A growl came from my chest and an even louder one rumbled from my second chance mare. 

He did not like the way Miller was disrespecting him in front of me. 

“Do you wish to challenge me? Do you wish to fight me, the Lycan king? Speak now!” He barked and I gasped. 

He was the Lycan king! 

When Miller did not answer him quickly, Max flung himself forward, grabbing Miller by the neck and holding him up in the air. 

Miller gasped for air and then Max released his grip and dropped him to the ground with a loud thud. 

“GET OUT OF HERE!” Max bellowed so loudly that birds flapped their wings and flew off to safety. 

“No, of course not. I am leaving now.” Miller backed down and I wanted to laugh at the sight of it. 

If only his precious Mora could see him right now.

She would hate that I was the one mated to a mouthwatering, Lycan king. 

He made Miller look like even more of a pathetic scoundrel than I had ever imagined him to be. 

I felt nothing. 

No pain. 

No guilt. 

No regret. 

“Isla, I am sorry. Sorry for everything but it is out of my hands now.” He said, getting into the car and driving off without so much of a goodbye look. 

“What is out of his hands?” Zara frowned, but looking as confused as I was but I was not going to let him bother me a second longer. 

Why would I care? 

I did not. 

How did he think that it had made me feel when he was parading that muppet Mora around like she was the most important thing to walk the earth.
