My Ambition 10

Chapter 2

Sebastian took my phone, frowning at the screen.

“Catherine is exceptionally capable. She’s been overseeing this project from the beginning. Should I bring someone who knows nothing instead?”

I didn’t know how much of the conversation he’d overheard, but Sebastian was clearly displeased. After all, no one wants to be associated with scandalous rumors involving their female assistant-it would severely damage the company’s image.

The line went quiet. Luna froze for a second before tears streamed down her face. Combined with her haggard appearance, she ooked pitifully vulnerable.

Biting her lip, she spoke with wounded innocence:

‘Sebastian, I just feel so insecure. I love you so much that just thinking about you leaving me makes my heart bleed.”

I’m sorry. Please don’t be angry with me. I promise I’ll never act this way again. When you come back, I’ll make you porridge, okay?

Sebastian’s frown relaxed as he sighed helplessly:

I’m not angry with you. Did you stay up all night? Luna, get some sleep and wait for me at home like a good girl.”

una nodded obediently and blew a shy kiss at the screen.

After hanging up, Sebastian rubbed his temples wearily, his voice slightly hoarse:

Luna was wrong this time. Ever since she found out about my mother trying to arrange that marriage alliance, she’s become ncreasingly insecure. I’m sorry you had to endure that.”

After this business trip, I’ll have Finance compensate you with three months’ salary as emotional damages.”

At the mention of money, my eyes lit up. Instantly, all my anger evaporated, and even my exhausted body felt considerably lighter.

nodded and took the luggage from his hands:

I can understand Miss Fairmont’s position. I’ve booked the hotel-we can check in directly.”

‘he moment we stepped out of the airport, I frowned and looked back, sensing someone’s gaze fixed on me.

‘he next second, my phone lit up with a message. I opened the multimedia text to find a blurry photo capturing the moment I’d taken he luggage, but from the angle, it looked as though Sebastian and I were holding hands.

‘here was also a text:

I’ll make you pay for this!”

immediately knew who had sent the message. I just hadn’t expected Luna to be crazy enough to have Sebastian followed. I quickly howed the phone to Sebastian.

le exhaled deeply:

I’ll have a serious talk with her when I get back. Right now, the tender meeting is what matters most.”

With Luna being several time zones away, there wasn’t much she could do from such a distance. I quickly pushed the incident from my mind, deciding to use up my accumulated vacation days after this business trip to avoid any more bad luck.

I never expected the bad luck to follow me here.

Arranging schedules, perfecting the bid proposal-we worked straight through until dawn. After thirty-six hours of non-stop mental exertion, my exhausted brain finally quieted, leaving only my heart pounding loudly in my ears.

Holding my throbbing head, I returned to my room without even turning on the lights, desperate to catch up on sleep.

As consciousness gradually faded into darkness, I dimly sensed something moving across my body.

My body reacted before my brain could process what was happening. I reached back to switch on the bedside lamp, and when I saw who it was, my heart skipped a beat.
