My Ambition 12

Chapter 4

Luna stood frozen in place, reaching up to touch her face, revealing the gleaming blade clutched in her hand.

I staggered backward two steps, leaning against the wall to support my weakening legs.

“I can’t see Sebastian. I’m not wearing makeup-I’d frighten him.”

“You haven’t spoken to him in so long. Don’t you miss him?” I lowered my voice coaxingly.

“You could call him without meeting face to face.”

Luna smiled coyly, clearing her throat before dialing. The phone rang rhythmically as she maintained that sweet expression, waiting.

Finally, on the last ring, Sebastian answered.

He was clearly still sleeping, his voice rough:

Luna?”

Luna’s voice was so sweet it could have dripped honey:

‘Sebastian, I miss you so much. Are you sleeping alone right now?”

[ casually moved closer to the window adjoining Sebastian’s room and began tapping out Morse code against the glass.

Yes.”

Luna playfully twisted her hair around her finger, unconsciously tracing heart shapes on the floor with her toe:

‘Have you been alone in your room since arriving at the hotel?”

The line went silent for a moment. My instincts screamed danger, and sure enough, Sebastian replied:

Yes, alone.”

Snap.”

she yanked a handful of hair from her scalp with violent force. Luna’s bloodshot eyes locked onto me as she maintained her sweet

one:

I’ll wait at home like a good girl for you to come back. I love you, Sebastian.”

The second after hanging up, Luna grabbed her hair and kept repeating:

‘He lied to me, he lied to me…”

‘He’s already willing to lie for you. He doesn’t love me anymore. He’s going to break off our engagement.”

The sense of crisis reached its peak in that instant. I grabbed a nearby cushion to shield myself.

“Maybe he was just groggy and didn’t hear what you were saying clearly. You could call back and ask again.”

I pointed to the tender documents scattered at her feet.

“You can also look at the files. They have timestamps showing when Sebastian signed them. This proves we were only working-nothing else happened.”

She lowered her head and read the text in a dazed state:

“Maintenance… agreement…”

My scalp prickled instantly. She had selectively ignored several words from “Outsourced Maintenance Agreement.”

Luna screamed:

“No wonder you got promoted so fast-you’ve been clinging to Sebastian, making him sign a maintenance agreement with you all

along!”

“You bitch! I’m going to kill you!”

She rushed at me with the knife, plunging it into the cushion against my chest.

I felt a sharp pain in my heart and could no longer care about anything else, screaming at the top of my lungs:

“Sebastian! Help me!”

Luna pulled out the knife and stabbed wildly at my body.

I grabbed an ashtray nearby and smashed it against her head with all my strength. The locked door shook violently with pounding, followed by the thunderous sound of someone kicking it down.

Blood streamed down Luna’s forehead as she collapsed, still staring at me with unblinking eyes.

I clutched my chest, my hand coming away slick with blood.

“Catherine, are you alright?”

Sebastian’s voice drifted through the door crack. Luna’s mouth suddenly twisted into a smirk before tears began flowing.

“Sebastian, please don’t abandon me.”

Her eyes moved woodenly before finally settling on the agreement on the floor.

Under my horrified gaze, she grabbed the contract, tore it into pieces, stuffed them in her mouth, and swallowed everything.

The door was finally kicked open. Hallway light flooded in, illuminating the scattered document fragments.

Sebastian’s face turned ashen:

“Luna Fairmont, you’ve destroyed the Brightwell Corporation.”
