Chapter 25 Someone Who Cares
Kent Jenkins?
Speaking of this, when Rachel first married into the Jenkins family, Kent had treated her very well. Even during times when Zane did not return home for the night, Kent would send someone to drag him home and give him a good scolding.
If it weren’t for Kent backing her up, those two years she spent in the Jenkins family wouldn’t have been so easy for her.
Rachel sharply sensed that something was wrong. “What’s wrong with Kent?”
Zane snickered. “So you can still care about people.”
Rachel frowned, and met his mocking gaze. “I’m always concerned for the wellbeing of those who treat me well.”
Zane’s expression darkened instantly. This woman was simply indirectly saying that he didn’t treat her well. He couldn’t be bothered to argue with her and simply said in a low voice, “Grandpa wants to see you.”
“Okay.”
He grabbed her shoulder and leaned in close before warning her by saying, “Don’t say anything inappropriate in front of Grandpa.”
“No matter who I harm, I will never touch Kent.” Rachel enunciated each word with a pause, before pushing Zane’s hand away and walking out of the corridor.
Zane raised his eyebrows slightly at her words. He said nothing and followed her out.
Rachel entered the hospital room and indeed, she saw Kent lying on the hospital bed. In just seven short years, she felt that Kent had aged a lot. He even looked thinner.
“Kent.”
There weren’t many people who were good to Rachel. Kent was one of the rare few who were. Seeing him in his current state made Rachel feel a pang of sadness in her heart.
The moment Kent saw Rachel, his face lit up with joy. “Sweet child, come here quickly and let me have a good look at you.”
Rachel obediently walked over and sat on the chair by the bed, allowing Kent to examine her carefully.

Chapter 25 Someone Who Cares
The Zane who had followed Rachel into the room felt somewhat puzzled when he saw her behaviour and actions.
Whether it was seven years ago or now, he had never seen Rachel show such an obedient side of her in front of him. She was as well behaved as a little kitten.
He ever–so–slightly narrowed his eyes.
Once Kent convinced himself that Rachel was truly in front of him, he nodded with relief. “Sweet child, it’s so great that you are still alive and well. The steward had told me that he saw you, which puzzled me. So, I asked Zane a few questions. Who knew, it turned out to be true. Silly child, why didn’t you tell me earlier that you have returned?”
Rachel gave a small smile. “I have been working abroad for these years and I’ve been too busy to spare time. I’ve also been wanting to make a career for myself, so I forgot to visit you when I got busy. Kent, I’m sorry for making you worry about me.”
“If I wasn’t worried about you, who else could I be worried about? That brat?” Kent said as he glared at Zane without kindness before he turned back to Rachel with a loving smile. “The past is in the past, it doesn’t matter as long as you are doing well now. Sweet child, will you not go back abroad after returning this time around?”
Rachel shook her head. “I’ll be going back abroad. I came to Guardia only for the task assigned by my mentor. After I’m done with it, I’ll be leaving.”
Upon hearing this, Zane’s eyes flickered.
“Leaving?” Kent was surprised. “Rachel, are you going to develop your career abroad?”
“Yes.”
“That…” Upon learning that Rachel was still alive, Kent was yery pleased. He even hoped his grandson and granddaughter–in–law could reconcile. “Rachel, in my heart, you are still the granddaughter–in–law of the Jenkins family. Whatever way that scoundrel had bullied you seven years ago, I’ll make him pay for all of it. As for the divorce, you should know I’ve never acknowledged it.”
“Grandpa,” Zane grunted.
At the same time, Janice was standing at the door of the ward and happened to hear everything Kent said.
Seeing Rachel sitting just over there turned her gaze into a malicious one.
Zane didn’t expect her to come. “Janice, why are you here?”
