Rebirth: Top Star Actress
Chapter 113
“Hey, here’s the twenty million you won. The password is the last six digits of the card number!”
The guy handed over a bank card with a respectful nod.
Emily’s eyes narrowed.
Did he know she was number 77
Emily took the card and asked, “How did you know it was mine?”
The guy smiled and said, “It’s not me who knows, it’s my boss. But don’t worry, Ms. Johnson, your identity is safe. The card’s delivered, I’ll be on my way.”
Emily had no clue who the boss was.
From what the guy said, it seemed the boss knew her well.
Was this competition set up just to get her involved, knowing she needed the money?
Emily’s expression turned serious.
“Who’s the organizer of this event? Do you know their boss?” Emily asked Byron.
Byron shook his head, looking puzzled.
“Sorry, Ms. Johnson, I don’t know either. I just know the boss is a mysterious figure, probably from one of the big families. The guy was so confident, not afraid of James; it must be someone from one of the major families.”
Byron shared his guess.
Emily nodded, “Forget it for now, at least they don’t seem to have any bad intentions.”
Thinking she owed Byron for his help, she transferred two million to him.
“Ms. Johnson, what’s this for?”
Although two million wasn’t much for someone of his status and family, it was still heartwarming because he earned it himself, not from his family.
Emily saw his touched expression and said seriously, “Be my assistant, stay loyal and obedient, and you’ll be well rewarded.”
“Ms. Johnson…”
“Stop, no need for sentimentality, I can’t handle it!”
Emily quickly stopped Byron’s emotional display.

The two then walked out of the room.

At the door, they saw Knox leaning against the door frame, one hand in his pocket, looking at Emily with a mischievous smile.
However, seeing Byron next to her, his gaze turned sharp, scrutinizing Byron.
“Mr. Green, who are you looking for?”
Byron recognized Knox, his eyes showing surprise.
Knox raised his chin slightly, smiling at Emily, Finished the competition? I watched, and it was good. You shouldn’t have any other plans now, right? You owe me a meal, don’t you?”
“Ms. Johnson, you know him?” Byron spoke weakly, feeling intimidated.
Knox was already displeased with Byron’s presence.
Now he looked at Byron with even more disdain, “You really don’t choose your friends carefully, do you?”
“He’s good. It seems you both know each other, so no need for introductions. Byron, my assistant.”
Emily defended Byron, explaining firmly.
Knox didn’t continue targeting Byron, but his gaze grew colder.
“Let’s go, I heard there’s a restaurant with great food, let’s go eat.”
Knox decided to avoid the annoyance, calling Emily to leave.
Since Knox had helped with the car today, Emily couldn’t refuse. She told Byron, “I’m going to eat with him; you can head back.”
Byron, as an assistant, had to obey. Though he feared Knox might deceive Emily, he didn’t dare say it in front of Knox.
So, after leaving, Byron secretly sent Emily a message.
Byron: [Ms. Johnson, I don’t know how much you know about Mr. Knox Green, but his identity is complex and dangerous. Be careful and avoid getting too close to him!]
Emily saw the message and couldn’t help but laugh.
Knox noticed her sudden laughter and squinted his eyes.
“Who texted you that made you so happy? Got a secret admirer?” Knox leaned in, closing the distance between them.
From afar, it looked like a couple sharing intimate words, especially with Emily’s smile still lingering.
She shook her head, “No, someone warned me you’re dangerous and told me to be careful not to get tricked by you.”
“Who? No matter how dangerous I am, can I be more formidable than you, who can handle poisons and practice medicine?” Knox

chuckled, his eyes twinkling.
They walked out, chatting and laughing.
Unbeknownst to them, a tall figure stood by a window on the second floor, staring intently at her and the man she was talking to. His fingers curled, veins bulging. His face was expressionless, the low pressure around him almost suffocating.
After a moment, he squinted his eyes and took out his phone to dial a number.
Emily was about to get in the car when her phone rang. She looked at the number.
“Sorry, one moment.”
Emily apologized to Knox and stepped aside to answer the call.
“Mr. Smith, is there something you need?”
“Can’t I call without a reason?”
Emily was stunned by his words. For a moment, she felt like Daniel was an imposter; otherwise, how could he say something so ambiguous?
Her heart raced, and she quickly said, “Of course not, Mr. Smith, you can call me anytime!”
Daniel’s cold, oppressive aura dissipated instantly because of her words.
“My chest feels uncomfortable. I wonder if there’s a new poison at home. I might need you to come over.”
Daniel said, coughing twice.
“Okay, I’ll come right away!”
Emily’s shyness vanished, replaced by seriousness. Daniel’s health couldn’t be compromised, especially with the two herbs still missing.
“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
Daniel’s smile widened, his voice soft and tender. But Emily, worried about his health, didn’t notice.
Emily hung up the phone, her expression serious as she walked to the car, apologizing, “Mr. Green, I’m sorry, I have to postpone our meal again. I have an emergency with a patient.”
Knox saw her serious expression and guessed it wasn’t good. It turned out to be true.
Seeing Emily’s guilty expression, he couldn’t say anything harsh. He was truly defeated by her.
“You have a busy life, it’s hard to have a meal with you. What can I do, tie you up and force you to eat?” Knox’s tone was filled with mock
resentment.
Emily felt awkward, “Sorry, I didn’t expect this. I’ll make it up to you, not one, but two meals!”

Chapter 113
“Breaking promises again and again, you think two meals will suffice? Knox replied with a half–smile.
Emily opened her mouth to say something.
Knox spoke again. “Think carefully about how to make it up to me. Simple compensation won’t do.”
He believed he had put some pressure on her. After that, he got in his car and drove off, leaving in style.
Emily knew he wasn’t really angry; she felt touched and helpless. Shaking her head, she was about to call a cab.
just then, a car stopped in front of her, driven by the person in charge of the race.
“Ms. Johnson, as the first–place winner, I’ll personally drive you back. Where to?” The person in charge asked politely.

Emily’s expression deepened, her eyes glinting. The person in charge seemed overly enthusiastic, which seemed coincidental. It felt like she was under surveillance.
But Emily composed herself and didn’t refuse. She wanted to see what the person in charge was up to.
