Chapter 73

Kael’s POV_

Roxanne was pregnant.

The words kept spinning in my head like a broken record. Over and over again, louder each time.

She had me trapped, caged and doomed.

I sat in my room. My hands were buried in my hair and my eyes were fixed on nothing. My thoughts were a

storm of rage, panic, and hopelessness.

“This isn’t fair,” I muttered.

Valric growled deep in my mind. “We should’ve never touched her. This is your fault.”

“I know,” I snapped. “But I was drunk. She planned it. She knew what she was doing.”

“She wants control. A child gives her power over us.”

Exactly.

If I refused to marry her now, it wouldn’t matter. My parents would never allow me to break things off. Not with a child in the picture. Especially not their first grandchild. And worse? The heir to the Nightshade

Pack.

I had no escape.

Unless…

I clenched my fists. I didn’t want the child. It wasn’t born out of love. It was born out of manipulation.

But how would I get rid of it?

No doctor in the pack would help me. They all knew about the engagement now. The pregnancy. They would never dare lay a hand on Roxanne, not with the Alpha’s grandchild growing inside her.

Taking her to another pack? No. Too risky. Too many questions.

A miscarriage.

It was cruel. But it was the only way.

I imagined pushing her down the stairs.

No. Too obvious.

Poison?

Too dangerous. And if they found it in her system, they would suspect me immediately.

I needed something… subtle. Something clean, quiet and untraceable.

They

I stood up and started pacing

“There has to be a way,” I muttered.

Frustrated, I kicked the edge of the table. A magazine flew off and landed open on the floor. I glared at it.

“Useless junk,” I grunted and was about to toss it away.

But something caught my eye.

At the bottom corner of the page, in small letters, was a strange ad.

ARE YOU TRAPPED IN LIFE? DO YOU FEEL CURSED IN LOVE, MONEY, OR POWER?

CALL THIS NUMBER FOR ANSWERS. SUPERNATURAL HELP AVAILABLE. NO PROBLEM TOO BIG.

LOVE SPELLS, PROTECTION, CURSES REMOVED, FATE ALTERED.

CALL MADAM MORANA.

A tiny phone number was printed at the bottom. The font was cheesy. It looked like those ridiculous fortune teller posters you saw on street signs.

Valric laughed. “Desperate much?”

I stared at the ad.

It was stupid. Probably a scam. Or some bored person pretending to be magical.

But what if it wasn’t?

What if this “Madam Morana” really knew things? Could do things?

I reached for my phone and dialed the number.

It rang three times.

Then a woman answered. Her voice was raspy, like dried leaves in autumn.

“Yes? Who seeks help?”

I hesitated. “I… I have a problem.”

“Everyone does, child. Speak.”

I paused, unsure of how much to say. But something in her tone made me keep talking.

“There’s someone I can’t get away from. She’s pregnant. But it wasn’t supposed to happen. She tricked me.

I need… a way out.”

There was silence on the line.

Then she said, “Come to me. I cannot work over the phone. You must be present.”

“Where?”

She gave me an address.

It was near the edge of the pack territory and close to the forest.

My brows furrowed. That area was mostly abandoned. No one lived there anymore.

“Let me know when you arrive. And come alone.”

1 hung up.

I stared at the phone. Something felt off.

“She lives near the forest,” I muttered.

Valric shifted inside me. “It’s dangerous. That place is cursed.”

“She sounded old. I doubt she would be able to hurt me physically. But she might not be alone.”

My gut twisted. I needed backup.

Alex.

He was my best friend. My right hand. And most importantly, someone who wouldn’t ask questions if I

asked him to keep a secret.

I grabbed my jacket and phone and stormed down the hall.

Alex was in the training yard. He was shirtless and swinging a wooden staff at a dummy. He looked up

when he saw me.

“Kael? You look like hell.”

“Thanks. I need you. Now.”

He dropped the staff. “What’s going on?”

“I need to meet someone. Discreetly. It’s important. I’ll explain on the way.”

He didn’t even hesitate. “Let’s go.”

As we drove toward the woods, I told him everything. About Roxanne. The blackmail. The pregnancy.

He was silent for a long time.

Then he said, “You’re thinking about getting rid of the kid.”

“Yes. I have no choice.”

He nodded. “Alright. I’m with you. Whatever happens, I won’t let them pin it on you.”

We drove in silence for a while. The trees grew thicker. Shadows danced under the pale moonlight.

Eventually, we reached the address. It was a small cabin. The wood was aged and dark. Vines grew up the

walls.

Smoke curled from the chimney.

I took a deep breath and knocked.

The door creaked open.

She stood there.

Madam Morana.

She was old. Very old. Her skin was wrinkled like dry bark. Her eyes were milky white, but she looked

directly at me, like she could see through skin and bone.

“Kael, the son of the Alpha. I was expecting you.”

I stiffened. “How did you know my name?”

She smiled. Her teeth were yellowed. “You carry the scent of death and desire. Come in.”

I stepped inside.

The air was thick with herbs and smoke. Candles burned in every corner. There were jars on shelves, some

with strange things inside. Bones. Dried flowers. Stones that glowed faintly.

Alex stayed by the door. His hand was on the hilt of his dagger.

“What is it that you wish from me?” Morana asked.

I licked my lips. “I need a way to… end a pregnancy. Without anyone knowing. Without any suspicion.”

She tilted her head. “You do not want to harm the mother?”

“No. Just the child.”

She nodded slowly. “It can be done. But such things come at a price.”

“What kind of price?”

She leaned forward. Her eyes glowed faintly now.

“Nothing in this world comes free, Alpha. Blood must pay for blood. A soul for a soul.”

I swallowed hard.

This was darker than I expected.

Valric whispered, “She’s a witch. A powerful one.”

I looked at Morana again.

She smiled wider. “Yes, child. I am what you fear. And what you need. Do you accept my help?”

I didn’t answer.

Not yet.

Chulptem

Because I had just stepped into something far more dangerous than Roxanne.

And I wasn’t sure I could walk back out.

“The Wolf Who Couldn’t Shift”

1. The Outcast of Nightshade Pack

Lisa had always been the outcast of her own home — a wolf without a wolf.

In the Nightshade Pack, turning twenty-one meant power, dominance, and pride. Every werewolf her age had already shifted, embracing their animal half. But Lisa hadn’t. Her wolf had never emerged.

Because of that, she was treated as an anomaly, a failure, and a source of shame.
Her parents ignored her. The pack ridiculed her. Even her own blood — her beautiful, perfect sister Roxanne — made her life a living nightmare.

Roxanne was everything Lisa wasn’t: strong, admired, and loved. The perfect daughter. The shining jewel of the family. And to make matters worse, Roxanne was dating Kael Blackthorn, the Alpha’s son — a man everyone respected and desired.

For Lisa, that was the final reminder of her insignificance. Every time she saw them together, it only highlighted the chasm between their worlds.

2. A Celebration That Wasn’t Hers

That night was Roxanne’s birthday, and their mother had transformed their home into a grand venue — lights, laughter, and music filled the air. Roxanne had been gifted a stunning red gown, handpicked by their mother, while Lisa was given a single task: serve the guests.

No one remembered Lisa’s birthday a few months ago. No cake. No presents. No “happy birthday.” Her parents had said it plainly before — Roxanne came first.
Lisa was simply expected to sacrifice and stay silent.

Still, she wanted to look decent. She chose a modest navy-blue dress, applied light makeup, and promised herself she wouldn’t let the night break her.

But the universe — or rather, Roxanne — had other plans.

3. Sister Cruelty

The door burst open, and Roxanne walked in like a queen entering a servant’s quarters. Her crimson lips curved into a smirk.

“What are you doing? You should be downstairs, not wasting time,” she sneered.

“I’ll be down in a minute,” Lisa replied softly, trying to keep her calm.

Roxanne’s eyes glinted with malice. Without warning, she snatched Lisa’s face cream from the dresser and poured it all over her dress.

Lisa gasped as the thick cream soaked through the fabric, staining it completely.

“Roxanne!” she cried, panic and disbelief trembling in her voice. “Why would you do that?”

“Because you’re embarrassing,” Roxanne replied coldly. “You think dressing up will make people notice you? No one cares what you look like, Lisa. You’re nothing but a burden.”

Tears blurred Lisa’s vision as she ran downstairs, desperate for justice. But when she told their mother what had happened, she was met with scorn.

“Roxanne would never do that,” her mother said sharply. “Stop making excuses. Go change and get back to work.”

And there Roxanne stood beside her, smug and triumphant, watching Lisa break in silence.

4. The Invisible Sister

Lisa changed into an old, faded dress — dull and shapeless.
When she finally entered the main hall, guests were already laughing and drinking, the music echoing through the night.

She moved quietly among them, balancing trays and forcing smiles. She served drinks, ignored whispers, and endured Roxanne’s cruel jokes.

One of Roxanne’s friends gave Lisa a small, pitying smile.
“Oh, you must be Lisa, right? Roxanne’s sister?”

Before Lisa could answer, Roxanne appeared and laughed loudly.
“Don’t bother talking to her! She’s just the help tonight — our little maid.”

Her friends giggled, glancing at Lisa like she was a joke.
“She’s really your sister?” one asked. “She doesn’t even look like she belongs here.”

“She doesn’t,” Roxanne said proudly. “She’s an embarrassment to the family.”

The laughter burned like fire in Lisa’s ears. But she didn’t fight back.
She had learned long ago that silence hurt less than hope.

5. The Alpha’s Arrival

Suddenly, the noise died down. All eyes turned toward the entrance.

The Alpha, Luna, and their son Kael Blackthorn — Roxanne’s boyfriend — had arrived. Their presence demanded respect, their aura commanding silence.

Kael was striking — tall, dark-haired, eyes sharp and unreadable. Power radiated from him effortlessly.
He walked straight to Roxanne, pulling her into his arms, kissing her in front of everyone.

The crowd cheered. Roxanne basked in the attention like it was her birthright.

Lisa’s stomach twisted. Not out of jealousy — but from the ache of being so invisible even to those who shared her blood.

“Lisa!” Roxanne called, her tone dripping with authority. “Bring drinks for me and Kael.”

Lisa obeyed. She returned with a tray of crystal glasses, keeping her head down. But when she approached, she felt his gaze.

Kael was watching her.

“Is that your sister?” he asked, his voice low and deep. “What’s her name? I don’t think I’ve seen her before.”

Roxanne laughed, tightening her arm around him.
“Oh, don’t bother. She’s not important. Just the family failure. Focus on me.”

Then she kissed him again — possessive, showy, territorial.

6. The Breaking Point

Something inside Lisa snapped.

For years, she had swallowed humiliation, endured cruelty, and told herself it didn’t matter. But as she stood there, watching her sister claim everything — their parents’ love, the pack’s respect, even Kael’s attention — something deep within her stirred.

Maybe it was anger. Maybe it was pain. Maybe it was the first stirrings of the wolf she thought she’d never have.

But it was there — hot, alive, awake.

She placed the tray down calmly, ignoring Roxanne’s voice calling after her.
She walked away — past the laughter, past the whispers, past every face that had ever looked at her with pity.

They could laugh. They could mock.
But one day, they would see.

7. A Shift Waiting to Happen

As the night went on, Lisa slipped quietly outside. The cool air hit her face, carrying the scent of pine and moonlight.

The party’s laughter echoed behind her, but she barely heard it. Her heart pounded with a strange rhythm, her blood burning beneath her skin.

Something was happening — a pull in her soul, a whisper in her bones.

She tilted her head toward the moon, feeling its glow on her skin.
For the first time in her life, she didn’t feel weak. She felt something ancient stirring inside her, clawing to be free.

Maybe her wolf wasn’t gone.
Maybe it had just been waiting — for the moment Lisa stopped begging to be seen, and started seeing herself.

8. The Beginning of Change

Inside, the celebration continued. Roxanne laughed, oblivious to the storm brewing.

Kael’s eyes flicked toward the window where Lisa stood in the moonlight. For a brief second, something unreadable crossed his expression — curiosity, or maybe recognition.

He didn’t know it yet. None of them did.
But the quiet, invisible girl they had mocked all her life was about to become something far greater than any of them could imagine.

Because sometimes, the wolves who are late to shift…
Are the ones destined to lead the pack.
