Chapter 95
Lisa’s POV
The next morning, I forced myself to get out of bed.
My eyes burned from lack of sleep. My limbs felt heavy. But I couldn’t stay curled up under the covers forever. No matter how terrified I felt, I had to pretend that everything was normal.
At least until I could figure out what was really going on.
I dressed quickly in a pale blue sweater and black leggings. Something simple and comfortable. I ran a brush through my tangled hair and splashed cold water on my face. My reflection looked pale. My eyes were wide and full of fear.
Sierra?
I’m here, she answered softly.
I don’t know how much longer I can stay here. Last night… that painting…
I know. But you have to stay calm. If they suspect you, it could get dangerous.
I swallowed hard.
So what do I do now?
Find more information, watch everything and listen. We need proof. And when the time
comes, we run.
I nodded to myself and stepped out into the hallway. The morning light filtered in through the large windows. Everything looked the same as it always did. It was peaceful, beautiful and too perfect.
But now, I saw it all differently.
Every smile felt fake. Every glance made my skin crawl.
I made my way to the dining room. The long wooden table was already set. Fenric was seated at the head, as always, with Katherine on his right.
“Good morning, Lisa,” he said with a pleasant smile. “Come. Sit.”
I forced myself to smile and walked over slowly. “Morning.”
The smell of food hit me as I sat down. Pancakes, syrup, berries, and something chocolatey.

But instead of making me hungry, the scent turned my stomach.

I could barely sit still. My hands trembled slightly as I reached for the glass of water in front
of me.
Fenric tilted his head. “You’re not eating your pancakes.”
I glanced down. My plate was untouched.
“Oh, I’m already full,” I said quickly. “I had something earlier.”
His smile didn’t waver, but his eyes darkened just a little. “Is that so? You haven’t even eaten
one.”
I tried not to flinch under his gaze. My mouth went dry. I could feel Sierra bristling in the back of my mind.
He’s watching us closely, she whispered.
Katherine leaned forward with a small grin. “Maybe you would. prefer a brownie? They’re my
favorite.”
She pushed a small plate toward me. The brownie looked rich and gooey.
“Thanks,” I said while trying to keep my voice steady. “But I’m really not feeling well. I think that I need some rest. I did not sleep well last night.”
Katherine’s smile faded slightly, but she nodded. “Oh… that’s too bad.”
Fenric continued watching me. His fingers were drumming slowly on the table.
“Excuse me,” I said while rising from my chair. “I think I need to use the washroom.”
“Of course,” Fenric said smoothly. “Do let us know if you need anything.”
I nodded and walked away as calmly as I could, even though my heart was racing.
Once I was back in my room, I locked the door and leaned against it.
I feel like I’m being hunted, I told Sierra. Like he knows what I saw.
He might, she replied. You have to be careful. But you’re right to stay away from their food. Something’s not right. I can feel it.
I walked over to the window and stared out. The trees swayed gently in the wind. The sun was high. It was casting a warm glow over everything.
But I felt no warmth.

Just fear.
What do I do next? I whispered.
Sierra didn’t answer. Not right away.
Then suddenly….
A loud shout echoed from outside.
I jumped.

Another yell followed, then several more. There was a commotion near the training grounds. I
rushed to the window and looked out.
Several pack members were huddled near the clearing. A few of them were on the ground. Others were rushing to help. I squinted, trying to make out what had happened.
Blood.
There was blood on one of them. His leg looked twisted at an odd angle. Another man was gripping his shoulder, his face pale.
What happened?
I watched as Fenric appeared out of nowhere, striding toward the injured with quick steps.
He knelt beside the man with the twisted leg. Without hesitation, he placed his hand over the injury and closed his eyes.
I held my breath.
A soft light shimmered beneath his palm.
Then, before my eyes, the man’s leg began to straighten. The blood dried. The bone snapped back into place.
I gasped.
What… what is that? I asked Sierra.
I don’t know, she whispered. That wasn’t a normal werewolf healing. That was something else.
I watched as Fenric stood and moved to the next injured person. This time, it was a young woman with a long gash across her back.
Another woman stepped forward, a blonde with sharp eyes, and she placed her hands over

the wound.
I saw the same light.
And within seconds, the gash was gone.
I stepped back from the window. My heart was pounding wildly.
Claim
They can heal people like I did, I said slowly. When I used my powers in the forest… that day I stopped the tree from falling.
Yes, Sierra said. But they do it without any hesitation. No struggle. Like they’ve done it a thousand times.
My hands were cold.
Were they blessed too? I asked. Like me?
I don’t know, she replied. But something doesn’t add up. If they are wolves, they shouldn’t have abilities like this. Not this easily.
I sat on the edge of my bed and stared down at my hands.
Were they like me?
Or were they something else?
I thought back to Fenric’s tattoo.
The paintings.
The way he knew things about me without asking.
The food he pushed. The way he watched me. Katherine’s too–perfect smile.
I shook
my
head.
No.
This wasn’t a normal pack.
Something was very, very wrong here.
And I needed answers.
I didn’t know where to start.
But I was done pretending everything was okay.

I would find out the truth.
Even if it meant sneaking into Fenric’s room.
Even if it meant risking everything.
Because now, more than ever, I knew one thing:
I didn’t belong here.
And if I stayed too long…
I might never leave.
