Aurora was speechless.Â
The director’s words caught her off guard, leaving her momentarily embarrassed and unsure how to respond.Â
She quickly changed the topic. “If there’s anything you need me to coordinate, Mr. Smith, please let me know right away. I’ve already cleared my schedule for your team.”Â
“Of course, of course,” he said cheerfully.Â
The call ended on a pleasant note, and the director couldn’t help feeling lucky.Â
Meeting someone as professional and easy to work with as Aurora was one of the best experiences of his career.Â
After hanging up, Aurora dialed Megan’s number. It wasn’t the time for her to be idle–she had things to prepare.Â
Otherwise, once the show started, how would she handle everything alone?Â
The call connected almost immediately.Â
“Megan, are you busy right now?” Aurora asked, thinking of Leonard’s situation.Â
Megan still felt a little awkward facing her, but she answered honestly, “Not really. Aurora, there’s something I need to admit–it really was my fault before.”Â
“I didn’t call to scold you,” Aurora said with a sigh, rubbing her temples.Â
She hadn’t expected Megan to still take the matter so seriously. Maybe she’d been too strict before, making Megan feel pressured or misunderstood.Â
“You really didn’t call to talk about that?” Megan asked in surprise.Â
In her mind, Aurora was bound to question her about it.Â
After all, she had delayed the project’s progress, failed to show up at the studio, and hadn’t even asked for leave. By any measure, it was her mistake.Â
“Of course not. Everyone has their own life, and I can’t keep an eye on you all the time. Besides, Leonard’s situation is quite special. I’ve actually been worried about how he’s doing,” Aurora said gently.Â
Hearing that, Megan let out a sigh of relief. “It’s complicated. The driver who hit him fled the scene and he was drunk. Leonard’s parents still haven’t found the one responsible.”Â
“How could something like that happen?”Â
Aurora’s heart sank.Â
She couldn’t believe someone as kind as Leonard would have to go through something so tragic. It was the kind of thing she would never have imagined before.Â
“How is he now?” she asked with concern. They had been business partners and friends and seeing him in suchÂ
a state pained her deeply.Â
Megan replied honestly, “He’s still unconscious, lying in bed, covered in bandages. No one knows what will happen next.Â
“The worst part is, the driver still hasn’t been found. I heard there were no cameras in that area.”Â
As she spoke, anger and frustration filled her voice.Â
Aurora felt a pang of sympathy. She decided that once she finished her current projects, she would visit Leonard.Â
“By the way, I actually called to talk about our upcoming work. We can start preparing to join the production team this week.”Â
“So soon?” Megan asked in surprise. She had assumed Aurora was calling to confront her, not to discuss work plans.Â
