Chapter 167 

“What? You think it’s not enough money?” 

Chase squinted at Wren’s face, feeling a vague sense of familiarity. But he was pretty plastered, so he didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he said something totally shameless. 

“Who cares about your money? And if you don’t back off, don’t blame me for being a jerk. When you end up on the front page again, not even God can save your career.” 

Wren’s icy reminder hit Chase like a slap. He frowned, feeling threatened. 

Just because of those bogus news reports, now everyone thought they could talk to him like this! 

The more Chase thought about it, the angrier he got. He grabbed Wren’s hand tightly, dragging her towards a private room. 

“You’re refusing a toast, so you’ll have to drink a forfeit. Tonight, you’ll drink whether you want to or not.” 

“What’s going on, Chase? Found yourself a fiery woman, huh? Quite the temper!” 

Chase’s friends, wondering why he hadn’t returned yet, came looking for him and saw the scene unfolding before them. They couldn’t help but egg him on. 

“Yeah, she’s got a fiery temper, but she’s greedy. I offered her money, and she said it wasn’t enough, even threatened me with trending news. Can you believe that?” 

Chase, drunk as he was, selfishly shifted the blame onto Wren. 

Hearing Chase’s words, his friends joined in, “Hey, beautiful, this is Mr. Johnson. Judging by your clothes, you seem like an ordinary girl. Mr. Johnson taking a liking to you is your big chance. Don’t miss out.” 

“Exactly, if you don’t go with him, we’ll have to help you out. If I were you, I’d be smart about this.” 

Wren, coming from a family of doctors, naturally wasn’t short on money. She dressed comfortably, often in cotton and linen, which might not look impressive to those who didn’t know better. 

Chase’s friends, not recognizing her, assumed she was just an ordinary girl and prepared to drag her away by force. Someone nearby saw this and tried to film it with their phone, but one of Chase’s friends quickly snatched the phone and smashed it to pieces. They even called the bar manager over. “Clear the place, Mr. Johnson needs to have a private chat with this young lady.” 

The manager, just an employee with no real power, knew better than to cross someone from the Johnson family. He complied without question. 

Wren’s face darkened. 

“Let go. This is your last warning, or else don’t blame me for what happens next.” 

“Are you stupid? Do you not understand the situation?” One of the men scoffed at her. 

Chase laughed arrogantly, “We’ve cleared the place. Let’s see how you plan to get me on the front page now!”

Chapter 167 

He let go of her hand, signaling a waiter to bring over a drink. He raised an eyebrow and handed it to her, ‘Be smart and drink it.” 

Wren gave him a long, hard look. “Alright.” 

Chase’s lips curled into a smile, feeling a sense of relief. But the next moment, his smile froze. 

Wren took the drink and splashed it right in his face. “Someone like you thinks you can buy me a drink?” 

‘You bitch! You’re asking for trouble. Get her!” 

Chase’s friends, snapping out of their daze from the drink splash, lunged at Wren. They assumed she was just a delicate girl and would be easily overpowered. But as soon as they started, chaos ensued. 

Wren held her own against several men, and with her silver needles, they were no match for her. The manager, seeing the fight break out, felt sympathy for Wren but could only watch silently. Realizing his security couldn’t handle her, he quickly called the police. 

Emily was about to fall asleep when she got a call from the police station. She hurried out the door, only to run into Daniel. 

“Where are you going? I’ll drive you,” Daniel offered straightforwardly. “I’m not spying on you, I just happened to see you rush out from the second floor and got worried.” 

Since confessing his feelings for Emily, Daniel had been openly caring for her. Emily wanted to refuse, but Daniel continued, “I can’t let you go alone. If you drive yourself, I’ll just follow you anyway.” 

His tone was a mix of domineering and stubbornness, yet oddly, Emily didn’t find it annoying. It was the start of her feelings for him. 

“Alright, to the police station,” she agreed, getting into the car and giving him the address. 

Daniel glanced at her but didn’t ask questions. He drove quickly but smoothly to the police station. 

Emily barely had time to thank Daniel before rushing inside. 

“Wren, are you okay? Are you hurt?” Emily ran to Wren, checking her over. 

Hearing Emily’s voice, Chase, holding his aching face, shot her a look. 

“Emily, it’s you? Is this woman your friend? No wonder. Birds of a feather flock together. She’s just as wild and uncivilized as you. She’s fine, but look at me and my friends!” 

Chase revealed his bruised face and split lip. Emily, seeing Chase, felt no sympathy. Instead, she gave Wren a thumbs up, thinking she hadn’t hit him hard enough. 

*You deserved it! And you guys, getting beaten by a girl, how embarrassing. And you have the nerve to report it to the police? If I were you, I’d be ashamed!” 

Emily’s words were sharp and merciless. Chase remembered how she used to fuss over even the slightest scratch on his face, saying it was his livelihood as an actor. Now, she didn’t care at all and even scolded him. 

“We went easy on her because she’s a woman. Now she’s damaged my insured face. She’ll pay for this and face jail time. I won’t settle this peacefully, Chase retorted.

Emily remained calm, knowing Wren wouldn’t resort to violence without reason. 

Ignoring Chase, she asked Wren, “Tell me what happened. Don’t worry, I won’t let them get away with this.” 

Wren, trusting Emily despite knowing Chase was her brother, recounted the events. She had come to the bar looking for her brother and encountered a drunken Chase. 

Emily’s face darkened with anger. She glared at Chase, “You really are something. With all your issues, you still don’t know when to stop? Bullying my friend? You’ll regret this.” 

Chase frowned, ‘You’re going to fight me over an outsider? And you believe her without evidence? I don’t accept it. She’s lying and has no proof!”
