Chapter 170 

“Wren, come here. I wanna ask you something. What do you think of Chase now?” 

Emily waved Wren over to sit by her bed. 

Wren looked puzzled by Emily’s question, unsure of her motives. “What do I think of him? I don’t hold any grudges against him, if that’s what you mean. You know me, I’ve been trained since I was a kid, and with my acupuncture skills, I can handle myself.” 

“Honestly, I’m glad it was me Chase ran into that night. If it had been another girl, she might have been in real trouble. From that perspective, Chase is pretty despicable. Just a bit of alcohol, and he loses control!” 

Wren had been raised to practice medicine and do good deeds, embodying resilience and kindness. 

In Emily’s previous life, it was inevitable that Chase would fall for Wren, but by the time he realized it, it was too late.

Wren blushed at the compliment. “You’re the one doing great things. I should be learning from you!”

“So, what are your plans for the future?” Emily asked. 

“I haven’t really decided yet. I just want to help people, wherever that may be,” Wren replied, shaking her head. 

Emily thought for a moment. “I have an idea. I’m starting a medical research lab and could really use someone with your talents. What do you think?” 

This was based on her trust in Wren. Emily could complete the research on her own, but having Wren’s help would speed up the process. Additionally, she wanted to make amends for past mistakes and ensure that Wren learned as much as possible. 

Wren knew Emily’s capabilities. The medicine she was developing would undoubtedly benefit humanity, and working with such a skilled doctor would be a great learning opportunity. 

“I’d love to!” Wren agreed almost immediately. 

Emily was pleased but still gave Wren time to think it over. “You don’t have to decide right away. Even if you change your mind later, just let me know. Take your time to discuss it with your family.” 

Wren nodded. “Okay,” 

After their conversation, Emily left Wren’s room. As soon as she returned to her own room, she received a call from Terry. 

“Ms. Johnson, I gotta say, how is it that you’re so much smarter than the rest of the Johnson family? It’s like you got all the brains, and they got all the selfishness.” 

Terry couldn’t help but vent.

Emily appreciated the compliment but didn’t need the flattery. “You didn’t call just to praise me, did you?” she teased. 

Terry laughed. “You know me too well. Actually, it’s about Aiden’s team. They’re worse than I thought. Do you know a guy named Ronnie? He acts like he’s in charge and expects everyone to follow his lead. I tried to offer a good idea to speed things up, but he shot it down and even mocked my skills, I can handle criticism of my appearance, but not criticism of my abilities. Emily valued Terry as a core team member, so of course, she wanted him back. “You’re always welcome. Just keep your identity under wraps until the project’s done.” 

“Don’t worry. I’ve set something up so that Aiden won’t suspect a thing and might even feel guilty.” 

Emily was curious about what Terry had done. In reality, Terry had used a bit of strategy, resigning and planting seeds of doubt. 

After Terry left, Aiden, prompted by Emily’s earlier warning, went to the company’s AI team office. Ronnie was fuming because their project hit another snag, despite his earlier confidence.
