“If so, let’s start over. My name’s Emily. Nice to meet you, Raina!” 

Emily suddenly smiled and extended her hand. 

Raina grabbed Emily’s hand excitedly, “Emily, let’s be friends. Please show me the ropes.” 

Raina felt a bit annoyed inside, but kept her composure. Finally, she had completed the first step. 

And Emily even added Raina on WhatsApp at her request. 

Then, Emily mentioned she had something to do and parted ways with Raina. 

Emily left the café and hailed a cab to Horizon Innovations Group. 

“Ms. Johnson, you’re finally here! Come take a look!” 

Terry greeted her warmly and led her to the project team. 

Emily reviewed the project’s progress and ran a few tests. The results were more refined than her original plan. 

“This is fantastic! We’ve got all the investments lined up. We’re just waiting for your final product. I can’t wait to throw a celebration party and double everyone’s bonuses!” 

Emily said with a grand gesture and a smile. 

“Ms. Johnson, you’re amazing!” 

“That’s fantastic! Ms. Johnson, you’re the best!” 

Everyone clapped and cheered. 

Emily turned to the finance team and told them to relax for the day since the company was having a gathering. 

After finishing everything, she left the office. 

However, she was stopped by someone downstairs. 

“Emily, we need to talk. Come with us.” 

The speaker was Veda, standing next to a woman with a strong presence and elegant looks. She was clearly from a wealthy family, groomed for the family business, which gave her such a commanding aura. 

Emily had a vague idea of who the woman was. 

Veda’s confidence stemmed from the two bodyguards in suits who blocked Emily’s path.

“Don’t even think about running. These two are top–notch security. If I were you, I’d cooperate to avoid any trouble.” Veda said arrogantly, noticing Emily sizing up the bodyguards. 

Emily was highly sensitive to danger. These two had a strong presence and were indeed skilled. Though she could handle them, it 

wouldn’t be easy. 

“I thought someone capable of being Daniel’s girlfriend would be unique and brave. But you’re so timid. Honestly, I’m disappointed. Zoey spoke up. 

Emily raised an eyebrow. 

“My basic caution is considered timidity by you? If you’re so confident, why bring these two to intimidate me? Where do you intend to take me? If it’s dangerous, I’ll fight back. This is my company building, and there are security guards. My chances of escaping are higher. What do you think?” 

Veda didn’t plan to harm Emily today. If she wanted to deal with Emily, she’d use discreet methods. Daniel still had a fresh interest in Emily, and if Daniel investigated, she might not be able to stop him. So, she hadn’t considered extreme measures yet. 

“Stop making excuses and admit you’re scared. We’re here openly, not to harm you, but to have a private conversation. The lady beside me, you might have guessed, is Daniel’s suitable fiancée, Zoey.” 

“Ms. Johnson, now that there are no concerns, can you come with us?” 

Zoey followed Veda’s lead. 

“Hold on, I’ll be right back! 

Emily nodded and walked toward the security guard. After a brief conversation, she returned. 

Veda sneered, “With that courage, you dare to be with Daniel? Do you know how many people like Daniel? How many challenges will you face? If you can’t stand by Daniel, you don’t deserve to be his girlfriend!” 

She mocked unapologetically. 

Emily looked at Zoey with a calm expression, “Really? Are you including Zoey in that? How pathetic!” 

“Pathetic? What gives you the right to say that?” 

Zoey felt insulted by Emily’s words. With her noble status, people always treated her respectfully. Rarely did anyone speak to her like this. 

If her upbringing hadn’t prevented her from acting out, she would’ve dealt with Emily harshly. 

Suppressing her disgust, she asked, “What’s so pathetic, Emily? The truly pathetic one is you. You’re from an insignificant background. Even if you marry into the Smith family, you’ll be looked down upon, slowly withering like a flower. That’s pathetic!” 

Emily chuckled, “Do you know the biggest difference between us? You pin your hopes on men, which makes you despicable. But I’m different. Daniel likes me, so I don’t have the worries you mentioned. Those are Daniel’s problems to solve. If he can’t handle them, I wouldn’t choose to be with him.‘

“Emily, after our brief conversation, I see you’re smart. So, I believe you’ll make the right choice. Take this check. I heard you’re not favored in the Johnson family. You’ve never had this kind of money. Now, you have the chance. You know what to do, right?” 

Zoey pushed the prepared check toward Emily, speaking with authority. 

Her imposing manner would intimidate most people. 

Veda chimed in, “That’s fifty million dollars. You probably never saw that much. With fifty million, you can do anything. Why endure the disparity in social status and the difficulty of fitting in?” 

“Remember, true feelings can change quickly, especially with someone as exceptional as Daniel, who’s seen many women. Maybe he chose you for a change, but he will soon lose interest. Then you’ll get nothing.” 

Emily picked up the check and looked at it.
