Chapter 1479Â
Tessa turned on her, eyes flashing. “What’s that supposed to mean, Aurora? You barely come home, and when you finally do, you talk to Mom like this?Â
“Do you even know how much she worries about you when you’re not around? She talks about you all the time.”Â
Aurora arched a brow. “Is that so? If she really missed me that much, but still treats me like this, then maybe I should ask what have you been whispering in her ear?”Â
“What are you implying?” Tessa demanded.Â
Ignoring her, Aurora turned to Grace. “Mom, haven’t you noticed? Every time you and I argue, it’s because Tessa jumps in and stirs things up. If she didn’t fan the flames, would we even be fighting?”Â
Grace started to think about it, but Tessa quickly cut her off.Â
“Aurora!” Her eyes shimmered with tears as she looked wounded. “Is that what you really think of me? That I’d ever do something like that?”Â
Aurora stared at her in silence, feeling both exasperated and faintly amused.Â
It was the same act and lines—how many times was Tessa going to recycle this performance?Â
She sighed and rubbed her ear. “Don’t you ever get tired of saying the same thing over and over?”Â
Tessa blinked, confused. “What do you mean by that?”Â
Aurora took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Her gaze locked on Tessa, sharp and unyielding. “You know exactly what I mean.”Â
“Same old story,” Aurora said coldly. “You never change a thing. Honestly, it’s pathetic.”Â
Her eyes were sharp and unyielding, a chill in them that cut straight through the air, like a lone wolf watching its prey from the shadows.Â
The intensity made even Grace’s heart tremble. When had Aurora’s presence become so commanding?Â
Back when she was still at the company, she’d never shown such strength.Â
Was it because of her time with Lucas? Had she grown that much under his influence?Â
Grace couldn’t help but wonder, though she knew she’d never get a straight answer–Aurora had stopped explaining herself long ago.Â
The truth was always right in front of her; she just chose not to see it.Â
Tessa still tried to defend herself, “How can you think that way about me, sis? Are you really going to make me sound that awful?Â
“We weren’t like this when we were little. You used to rely on me all the time. Have you really forgotten all those happy memories?”Â

Aurora let out a soft, humorless laugh.Â
Forgotten? Or had those “memories” never existed at all? Tessa’s ability to twist reality was almost impressive.Â
She didn’t bother humoring her. “Do you even believe what you’re saying? When did I ever rely on you? When did you ever play with me, Tessa? Or are you just making up fairy tales now?”Â
