Chapter 1508 

The situation between Yvonne and Lucas was nothing like what the internet claimed. 

Though they were called business partners, their power was far from equal. 

Yvonne’s success relied heavily on the Carter family. 

On paper, they were collaborators, but in truth, it was the Carters who had been supporting the Songs all along. 

After all, their families had a long-standing connection. 

That was why Lucas chose not to confront her directly, instead asking Edwin to pass the message along. He still had to respect the elders from both families. 

“I understand what you mean. I’ll let her know,” Edwin replied. 

Hearing that, Lucas didn’t press further. “I’ll be in Bustin City soon. So, you’d better make sure she doesn’t I say anything reckless, especially in front of me.” 

His tone grew colder, and even through the phone, Edwin could sense his anger. Had they been speaking face to face, Lucas probably would’ve lost his temper already. 

Edwin knew exactly what his nephew’s temperament was like. 

The fact that Lucas was still speaking calmly showed he was only holding back out of respect for the long- standing ties between their families. 

Edwin paused for a long while before answering, “I understand. I’ll make sure she gets the message.” 

“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. 

With that, Lucas ended the call abruptly. He had no desire to waste words. 

The only reason he had called Edwin at all was because, during the family dinner, Edwin had spoken up in 

Yvonne’s defense. 

That made Lucas assume their relationship was closer than he had thought. 

Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been so much unnecessary involvement. 

And the fact that Edwin had defended her even when he clearly knew Lucas had brought Aurora to the dinner said enough. 

Lucas had already seen through everything. He just chose not to call it out. 

To him, whatever feelings existed between them were personal matters. As long as they didn’t interfere with his own life, he couldn’t care less. 

No matter how tangled things got, he had no interest in getting involved. 

Living his own life was all that mattered.

But now that Yvonne had chosen to step into his path, Lucas no longer intended to show mercy. 

After the call ended, Edwin sat in the car for a long while, dazed. 

He hadn’t expected Lucas’s attitude to be so firm. 

He had always thought that between Aurora and Yvonne, Lucas would still lean toward Yvonne. 

After all, the two had known each other for years, and their partnership had always been smooth. 

They’d never had any major conflicts, never even raised their voices at each other. 

Whenever Yvonne worked alongside Lucas, people often praised her competence. 

Even Lucas himself had occasionally admitted that her abilities were impressive. 

That was why Edwin had always believed the two of them were well-matched. 

Even though he had feelings for Yvonne himself, he still thought so. 

Sometimes, when he saw her shine in the business world, he genuinely felt happy for her. 

Watching her throw herself so passionately into her work, he couldn’t help but be drawn to her every single time. 

But now, he realized things weren’t the same anymore, some things had changed. 

Yvonne’s recent actions were indeed unwise. 

After all, Aurora represented the Carter family’s public image now. She and Lucas were already legally married, and that was an undeniable fact.
