Emily replied earnestly.
Daniel’s face darkened, and the atmosphere grew tense.
Mason was surprised but remained composed.
‘So, someone in the family is actually poisoning me?”
Mason’s voice sounded more aged.
Emily could only say, “Yes, but we need to investigate further to find out how. Don’t worry, I promised Daniel I’d protect you, so your health won’t suffer.”
Mason didn’t speak.
After a moment of silence, Mason opened a drawer and took out a jewelry box. “This was your grandmother’s. Consider it a gift for Emily.”
It was his way of acknowledging Emily.
Emily was just playing along with Daniel and hadn’t expected to receive anything, especially something so valuable.
