Chapter 230
Emily led Elmer away.
Thanks to her familiarity with the layout and her sharp instincts, they narrowly avoided the patrolling guards each time.
Hope was within reach.
Emily planned to get Elmer out first and then figure out how to rescue the other girls.
But things went wrong on Hayden’s end.
He woke up.
Finding himself in an unfamiliar place, being carried by a strange man, Hayden instantly panicked.
The man carrying him had a rugged appearance.
Hayden’s mind jumped to unsavory conclusions, and in his panic, he started struggling and yelling.
Although the man quickly knocked Hayden out with a single blow, the commotion had already drawn attention.
Emily’s face darkened.
“Go down this path, then turn the corner. There’s a small door at the end. Take this powder. There’s only one guard at the
door. Throw the powder in his face, and he’ll pass out. It won’t last long, so you need to leave quickly,” Emily instructed
Elmer, handing him a packet of powder.
“You’re not coming with me?” Elmer asked, worried.
Emily shook her head. “Two of us can’t make it. I’ll distract the patrols to buy you time. If you stay, you’ll have no chance.”
A fight was inevitable. The people in this compound were ruthless, more like monsters than humans. If Elmer didn’t
escape, someone with his skills would likely be killed to keep him silent.
But Elmer was reluctant to leave her.
As a man and a tech expert, he felt he wouldn’t suffer as much as a woman would if captured. If someone as beautiful as
Emily fell into their hands, her fate would be worse than death.
“No way. I’ll distract them. You escape first!” Elmer insisted.
Emily frowned. “I know the layout better than you and can move more quickly. Don’t waste time. If you don’t go now,

neither of us will make it. Head north after you get out. In thirty minutes, maybe an hour, someone should come to ge
you. You have to hold on!”
Without giving Elmer a chance to argue, Emily ran down a nearby path, causing a deliberate noise.
The approaching patrols saw her and immediately chased after her. “Catch her! Someone’s trying to escape!”
Sirens blared.
Elmer’s eyes filled with tears, but he knew he had to leave now or Emily’s sacrifice would be in vain.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious office elsewhere.
Daniel was having a “friendly” conversation with the man across from him.
“Finnegan, we have all kinds of goods here. As long as the money’s right, you can trust us. If we work well together, there
will be plenty of opportunities in the future,” said the man, whose face was somewhat twisted.
This was Orville, the man Emily had mentioned.
Daniel had quickly made contact with Orville using a code name.
Some of Daniel’s men were stationed just outside the compound, and only a few had come in with him.
This was why Orville felt confident enough to talk to him.
Daniel had a backup plan. If Emily were captured and a deal could be made, great. If not, he was prepared to risk
everything to rescue her.
But their conversation was interrupted by the sudden blare of an alarm.
“What’s going on?” Daniel frowned.
Orville, noting Daniel’s demeanor and attire, along with the suitcase of money he had brought, knew this was no ordinary
client. Securing a deal with someone like him could be very lucrative.
But he hadn’t expected trouble right now.
Someone must have tried to escape.
Still, Orville was confident in his security and remained calm. “Finnegan, don’t worry. It’s probably just some newcomers
with unrealistic hopes. No one leaves this place.”
“Let’s continue our discussion. What kind of goods are you looking for? I can provide whatever you need.”

To pique Daniel’s interest, Orville began listing examples, including women and young girls.
Daniel’s heart filled with cold fury.
These people deserved to die.
His face remained impassive. “I need to see the goods to judge their quality.”
Orville considered this. “Finnegan, as a valued client, your requests should be met. Let me make some arrangements.”
“No need for that. I prefer to see things as they are. Let’s go now. Or is there something wrong outside? Daniel pointed to
the alarm.
Since the situation outside was already known, there was no point in hiding it.
Orville, realizing Daniel wasn’t concerned, agreed. “Alright, let’s go take a look.”
But first, he signaled his men to handle the situation quickly.
Outside, things were more chaotic than Orville had anticipated.
Leopard had handed Hayden off to someone less skilled and stayed to fight with the patrols.
Emily soon joined them.
But they were surrounded.
In the initial skirmish, they had used guns. Now, in close quarters, the guards wanted to capture Emily and the other
woman alive.
Emily and the others fought back while retreating.
“Watch out!” Emily warned when the other woman, who was called Birdie, nearly got hurt.
Emily took a blow meant for Birdie, blood staining her clothes.
Her face pale, she fought through the pain. “Fall back to the hidden door. Wait for help there,” she whispered to the man
beside her.
This hidden door was something she knew from her past.
It led to a room with supplies, a place they could hold out for a few days.
Most importantly, the door could only be opened from the inside.

“What about you?” Leopard asked, unwilling to leave her.
Emily was about to say she would join them when she saw Daniel and Orville approaching.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Was Daniel working with Orville?
Or was he here for her?
If it were the former, they were enemies. If the latter, he was risking his life for her, and she couldn’t abandon him.
Daniel’s eyes widened when he saw Emily.
But then he was struck by her beauty, and the sight of her bleeding wound filled him with rage.
This place would not be left standing.
“I want that woman,” Daniel said, pointing to Emily.
Emily’s mind raced.
Suddenly, she raised a knife to her throat. “You want me? Don’t even think about it, unless you let them go!”
The hidden door was close. If Leopard and the others could escape now, they’d be safe until help arrived.
Orville hesitated.
Daniel leaned in and whispered, “I really like this woman. Pretend to let them go. You said no one escapes, right? We can
catch them again later.”
Orville nodded, signaling his men to stand down.
