Scared Part I
January watched as Davis made a face at the sight of Moe and
his little army of men coming towards him.
“You should put those down gentlemen. You’re holding a firearm against a federal agent.”
“Wrong,” January spoke up. “I know for a fact he was fired and is no longer a federal agent. What I want to know is how he ended up a federal agent when he was not a cop when he lived in Greece. How did that happen?”
“I came to America and went to college like every other cop,” he spoke sharply, “and wanted to put my knowledge of crime families to good use.”
“How did you get your name changed?”
“I took a more American sounding name and legally changed it because it made my job easier. You really all need to put your weapons down.”
“I really don’t trust him,” Gulliver commented.
“You are inciting a mob, Gulliver. Davis growled angrily.
“You know, I think he thinks I’ll kill him.” Gulliver said with a gleam in his eye.

“We wouldn’t see a thing,” Moe said bluntly. “We’ve all heard what he did to our friends. Putting cameras in their house and places of business? Not cool.”
“It was for her safely!” he exclaimed. “You are all pointing your weapons at the wrong man. He’s the criminal. He’s the fucking mafia leader. He’s a murderer and he’s wanted in many countries.”
“Name one.” Gulliver spoke seriously. “Name one country where my name is actually on a wanted list.”
At the call out, Davis frowned, “what?”
“Name one actual country anywhere in the world where my name is on a wanted list. Hell, I’ll settle for you even telling me a single country where a warrant for questioning was issued in my name. You can’t.”
“You pay people off.”
“Or I’m not a criminal,” Gulliver folded his arms over his chest. “I’m a rich motherfucker. I’m a prick in the boardroom. I’m a miserable son of a bitch if you cross me in business and then I’ll do all kinds of shit to destroy a business. Criminal activity though? There is no connection between me and any illegal activities. Not on a single document anywhere in the world have I ever been arrested or linked to such things.”
“Not true. In Greece you were part of the crew who were

Legal imports and exports which my grandfather was bringing into the country using his legal business, required young robust men to unload and I was there. Now, the illegal activity, if you forget the story we just told, is that your brother was stealing the product and selling it cheaper to his buddies.”
“This is bullshit.”

“Name a country, Davis, I’m waiting.” January spoke up. one country where my daughter’s father is wanted on an actu list or warrant.”
“He’s on watch lists.”
“That is an enormous difference than telling me he’s wanted for murdering and peeling the skin off people. That’s very macabre by the way. I’m really more inclined to believe him now that I know how much you lied, embellished your lies with more lies, and then lied to put cherries on top.”
“I’m not lying. I know for a fact he kills people. Prince of Pain.”
“That is a cool nickname,” Moe called out. “My best friend’s road name is Hatchet. He’s not a lumberjack.”
January snickered in spite of herself and the situation.

“I think you’ve overstayed your welcome, Davis. You should leave. Speaking on behalf of me and my family, we don’t want to talk to you. The lies you’ve told us have caused a lot of harm.”
“You’re back with him?”
“No! God no. He lied to me and faked a wedding. I’m not a trusting person. I’m going to go on dates and see if I can’t find love again.”
Moe’s son Digger was standing next to his father and his eyes lit up, “I’ll take you out January. I’ll even cook for you if you want at my house. If you want we can go to a nice restaura in Burlington. If you want to go dancing, my best friend v is part of a motorcycle club over a few

Gulliver shot the man an irritated look which was echoed by the expression on Davis’s face.
“Digger, I appreciate the offer. I’ll think about it.”
“If you go on a date with him, you’re going with a full security team. The last fucking thing you need is to be stuck in
Burlington because he drove you somewhere and you hated it and ended up ditched.”
“I wouldn’t ditch her!”

you Davis? Does it make of your business. Does that bother
you feel like you failed even more you already did because you know I’m not crying in my m over my wife moving on?”
“She isn’t your wife. You faked it. I am surprised you’re not throwing fists and screaming mine like a tragic hero.”
“No. See, I know that I fucked up. I want to be her friend and her coparent and pray that all these other fuckers around can’t do for her what I did. When that happens and she lets me take her on a date and woo her again, then I’ll spend a lifetime worshipping her. Until then, I’m waiting my turn. Now Davis, it’s your turn. Your turn to suffer the way I did.” He motioned to Moe and Digger, “fellas, if you wouldn’t mind, my team who were all down the street in the café and at the school parking lot to make sure those fuckers from the restaurant didn’t show up are all now here. Would you escort Davis to their vehicle? They will drive him back home.”
