Aurelia had visited SkyPulse Company countless times while doing research for her project, so she knew the place inside out.Â
As she led the tour, her Ccalm, confident tone made her sound like part of the company.Â
Even Dorian, the boss, looked at her with open admiration.Â
The staff there were all friendly to Aurelia. From the engineers to the security guards and even the cleaning crew–everyone greeted her warmly as she passed.Â
“Ms. Corin, are you leaving today? If not, come to my place for dinner after work,” said Jason Clark, SkyPulse Company’s chief engineer.Â
He had hurried over just to thank Aurelia. “My wife’s been wanting to thank you in person. She said if you hadn’t helped her find that school, our son would’ve probably dropped out.”Â
“How’s Brandon doing at his new school?” Aurelia asked with a smile.Â
Jason said earnestly, “He’s doing great–really great. Since it’s an esports program and he’s passionate about it, he’s been working so hard. His teacher even says he’s top of the class.Â
“My wife and I used to think gaming was a waste of time, but thanks to you, we realized it could actually lead to a career. We really owe you for this.”Â
Aurelia smiled, her tone light. “You’re giving me too much credit. I just happened to be working on an esports project and knew a bit more about it than you did. I’m just glad I could help. Please tell Mrs. Clark that she doesn’t need to go through any trouble.”Â
Jason shook his head. “No, no–you really helped us out. You have no idea what a big deal this was for our family. We have to thank you properly.”Â
“I think I have to fly back to Ashmont tonight,” Aurelia said. “But thank you for the offer.”Â
Jason looked disappointed to hear she was leaving so soon.Â
Dorian chimed in with a smile, “SkyPulse Company and Honoria Capital are partners now. There’ll be plenty of chances to treat Ms. Corin to dinner. No need to rush.”Â
Jason laughed. “You’re right. I got ahead of myself. Well, next time, you have to promise you’ll come, Ms. Corin.”Â
Aurelia didn’t give a clear answer. She was planning to leave Honoria Capital soon anyway. Whether Cassian approved or not, she was done.Â
“Ms. Corin seems pretty popular,” Tessa remarked casually.Â
Dorian chuckled. “More than just popular. If we held a popularity vote here, I’m pretty sure she’d beat me without trying.”Â

Cassian smirked. No need You’re an investment director, not a PR manager?Â
Hearing that, Tesen smiled, her voice turning sweet and a linke thirty. “I just want to handle things as MarthenatyÂ
“You don’t need to force yourself, Gresham said, his tone gentler now. “You’ve never liked that kind of thing anyway”Â
The warmth in his voice didn’t escape Dorian. When the two walked off together, Dorian glanced at Aurelia, who hadn’t moved, and asked curiously, “Is she 14. Locke’s girlfriend?Â
Aurelia hesitated before replying, her voice quiet. “I’m not really sure?Â
Cassian had never made their relationship public, and it wasn’t Aurelia’s place to define it–though deep down, she knew it was only a matter of time,Â
Dorian, however, seemed contain. “I think so. I was pretty firm with my attitude earlier–1 hope I didn’t offend the future Mrs. Locke of Honoria Capital”Â
With that, he jogged off to catch up with them.Â
Aurelia stayed where she was, a sharp pain twisting in her lower abdomen.Â
No one actually enjoyed networking, but for years, she had pushed herself to be perfect–to please every potential partner, to make every deal flawless,Â
Yet in Cassian’s eyes, none of it mattered,Â
All her effort, her discipline, her sacrifices–had only become reasons for him to look down on her.Â
She stood still for a moment until the pain subsided a little. Then she pressed a hand to her stomach and slowly crouched down. The painkillers she’d taken earlier had worn off.Â
When Dorian returned with Cassian and Tessa, Aurelia was sitting on a chair, sipping a cup of hot cocoa that the cleaning lady had kindly brought her,Â
“Ms. Corin, are you all right?” Dorian asked, concerned when he noticed how pale she looked.Â
“I’m fine,” Aurelia said out of habit, “Just not feeling well. It’s nothing serious”Â
The cleaning lady frowned. “Menstrual cramps are no small thing, dear. You have to take care of yourself.”Â
Cassian’s brow furrowed. “If you’re not feeling, well, go to a hospital. Why pretend you’re fine?”Â
“Going to the hospital won’t help,” Aurelia said, standing up. “Is the tour over?”Â
She just wanted to wrap things up and get back to the hotel to rest.Â

“We haven’t gone over there yet,” Tessa said, pointing toward the other side.Â
“That’s the new workshop,” Dorian explained. “It’s still unfinished inside–nothing worth seeing”Â
But Tessa was curious. “I still want to take a look. The places we’ve seen so far were clearly prepared in advance for guests. They don’t show the real picture.”Â
Dorian looked uneasy. “It’s under construction. The site’s a mess.”Â
“That’s okay. I’ll just take a quick look,” Tessa insisted. “I’ll be handling this project moving forward, so I should understand it better.”Â
Cassian said nothing, but it was clear he wasn’t going to stop her.Â
Dorian sighed and led the way. “All right, but it’s a construction zone. We’ll need hard hats.”Â
“Ugh, will a hard hat make me look silly?” Tessa whispered to Cassian, “Don’t look at me too much, okay? I don’t want to ruin my image in your mind.”Â
“Oh, come on,” Cassian said, looking at her. “You’re perfect no matter what.”Â
Tessa laughed softly, clearly pleased, and stopped worrying about her appearance.Â
Aurelia didn’t want to go, but before she could decline, Tessa turned to her. “Ms. Corin, come with us. You explain things in a way that’s easy to understand. When Mr. Cooper explained, he used too many technical terms–I couldn’t quite follow.”Â
Before this, Aurelia hadn’t held anything against Tessa. She knew Cassian’s change of heart wasn’t Tessa’s fault.Â
But this time, she felt it clearly–Tessa was targeting her.Â
As another woman, she had to know how painful menstrual cramps could be, yet she was still insisting that Aurelia come along.Â
Still, when Aurelia looked at her, Tessa’s expression was calm and innocent, as if she had no hidden motive- just a sincere desire to learn.Â
Aurelia hadn’t been to the new workshop before either, so she wasn’t familiar with it and didn’t have much to explain.Â
The site was chaotic, full of noise and dust. Dorian kept warning them to be careful as they walked.Â
Because she wasn’t feeling well, Aurelia stayed at the back, which gave her a clear view of Cassian and Tessa walking side by side ahead of her.Â
At one point, Tessa tripped on a wire, and Cassian instinctively caught her by the waist, pulling her close. “Be careful,” he said gently.Â
“I know,” Tessa murmured with a small pout.Â
Aurelia slowed her pace even more, wanting to put more distance between them.Â

Chapter 12Â
“Watch out!” someone shouted as a forklift backed up.Â
Aurelia quickly stepped aside. The machine was carrying a full load of materials and was moving backward toward a tall shelf, about ten feet high, stacked with even more supplies.Â

The stack blocked the driver’s view, and he didn’t see that the forklift’s rear end had snagged the shelf. It tilted suddenly, sending everything on top tumbling down.Â
In that split second, Aurelia didn’t think–she instinctively reached out to pull Cassian away.Â
It was a reflex, a habit formed over seven years of being by his side.Â
But her hand grasped only empty air.Â
A crashing noise filled the room as heavy materials rained down. A sharp piece struck her arm, slicing through her sleeve.Â
In the chaos, she heard Tessa’s panicked scream. “Cassian!”Â
“Don’t be afraid,” Cassian said. In that instant, he threw himself over Tessa, shielding her completely as the falling materials struck his back with a series of dull, heavy thuds.Â
