Chapter 29Â
As soon as Cassian rushed into Alina’s room, Tessa, her eyes red and swollen, threw herself into his arms.Â
Her whole body trembled. “Cassian, I’m so scared. My mom just threw up blood.”Â
Cassian had come running the moment he got her call.Â
Doctors and nurses were already there, giving Alina a thorough check–up.Â
Cassian wrapped an arm around Tessa, murmuring quiet words to calm her down.Â
When the doctor finished the examination, he said gently, “Don’t worry. It’s not actual vomiting blood–just some streaks mixed with mucus from her lungs. That can happen when tiny blood vessels burst after a bad cough. It’s a small issue that will heal on its own.”Â
Tessa finally let out a long breath of relief. “Oh, thank goodness.”Â
When the doctor left, she turned to Cassian, looking embarrassed. “I was just so scared. You were the only person I could think of, so I called you. I didn’t bother you, did I?”Â
Cassian shook his head. “No. You can relax now, right?” His voice was calm and warm.Â
Tessa smiled again and nodded hard. “Yeah. I’m so glad you came.”Â
A moment later, Daniel hurried in. Once Tessa explained what had happened, he finally relaxed.Â
“Thank you for all the trouble these past few days,” Daniel said to Cassian. “Tessa’s been looking after her mom these days. It hasn’t been easy. I’ll handle things here. You two should go out this weekend and get some rest.”Â
Then he turned to Tessa and added, “For now, take Cassian out for a meal to thank him for your mom and me. Once your mom’s discharged, we’ll invite him over properly.”Â
Tessa’s face lit up. “Okay.”Â
Before she left, she reminded Daniel not to forget to pick up Alina’s test results from the lab.Â
Daniel talked to a nurse, then headed to the lab himself. As he flipped through a stack of papers, searching for Alina’s report, a familiar name caught his eye.Â
He froze and turned back a page. Ella Corin–the name looked familiar–too familiar–and the age matched the person he remembered.Â
But he quickly brushed the thought aside. He told himself that it was probably just a coincidence.Â
He continued searching until he found Alina’s report and didn’t think about it again.Â
At the hospital entrance, Tessa asked Cassian if there was any restaurant he wanted to go to. Cassian said no.Â
So she suggested Blue Bridge again. Cassian didn’t object, but halfway there, he suddenly stopped walking.Â
“What’s wrong?” Tessa asked, puzzled.Â
Cassian’s gaze had locked on something in the distance.Â
Tessa followed his eyes–and froze. Aurelia and Gideon were there.Â
“Why are they together again?” she blurted.Â

Chapter 29.Â
19 IMÂ
A sharp, icy glint flashed across Cassian’s eyes, though Tessa didn’t notice.Â
She added, “Could it be that Ms. Corin already hooked up with Gideon that night at the West Legacy Club?”Â
Her tone turned mocking. “Cassian, your secretary really knows how to play her cards.”Â
Cassian said nothing. His eyes went cold as he looked away. “Let’s go.”Â
Tessa hurried to keep up, but she still cast a meaningful glance back at Aurelia and Gideon.Â
Aurelia saw them too. Just as she’d expected, Tessa had called Cassian away again.Â
She’d been serious when she told him they were over, yet he hadn’t even replied.Â
He’d just answered Tessa’s call and walked off without another word, as if he couldn’t even be bothered to end things properly.Â
Aurelia had never imagined breaking up could feel so messy.Â
In the end, their goodbye turned out uglier than their beginning. But it didn’t matter anymore. She had ended it. Whether Cassian responded or not–whether he agreed or not–it was over.Â
Gideon had come to take her out to dinner, saying he’d finally thought of a way she could repay him.Â
But she didn’t expect the restaurant he chose to be Blue Bridge.Â
Life really had a twisted sense of humor. She had dreamed of going to this place with Cassian for so long, and now she was finally here–just not with him. He was here, too–only with someone else.Â
“What’s wrong? Don’t like this place?” Gideon asked when she hesitated at the entrance. Thinking she wasn’t a fan, he added, “We can go somewhere else.”Â
“No,” Aurelia said softly, forcing a faint smile. “I like it here.”Â
She had liked it so much once that she’d imagined coming here on a date with the man she loved.Â
“I figured you’d like it. It’s one of those popular spots online–most girls love the vibe,” Gideon said with a grin.Â
The private room he’d booked was beautifully set up, and the cozy atmosphere eased some of Aurelia’s heaviness.Â
When Gideon handed her the menu, he reminded her, “Don’t order anything spicy. Your stomach can’t handle it.”Â
Aurelia ordered everything she’d been craving anyway–including a few spicy dishes.Â
Before Gideon could comment, she quickly admitted her mistake and promised she’d only take a few bites.Â
“Just this once,” he said finally, relenting.Â
Midway through the meal, Gideon’s phone rang. He stepped out to take the call, and when he came back, Jasper followed him in.Â
Aurelia recognized him right away. Jasper looked equally surprised to see her sitting there.Â
“Let me introduce you-” Gideon began.Â
Jasper cut him off and said, “I know her. Aurelia, Cassian’s secretary. No need for introductions.”Â
His eyes were full of disdain, just like before.Â
Chapter 29Â
Out of respect for Gideon, Aurelia stayed quiet,Â
“Cassian and Tessa are eating here,” Jasper said. “Gideon, why don’t you join them?”Â
He made it clear that the invitation didn’t include Aurelia.Â
Gideon smiled politely. “I can’t. I have something to discuss with Aurelia. You guys enjoy your meal.”Â
“Fine. I’m heading over,” Jasper muttered, clearly displeased. He probably hadn’t expected Gideon to turn him down for Aurelia.Â
Hearing Jasper was coming, Tessa had already asked the waiter to set another place at their table.Â
But when he arrived, Jasper looked irritated, like someone had just spoiled his evening.Â
“What’s wrong?” Tessa asked with a bright smile.Â
Jasper didn’t want to mention Aurelia and ruin the mood, so he just shook his head. “Nothing.”Â
Anyway, he thought Aurelia didn’t even come close to Tessa–there was no point comparing the two.Â
He believed Gideon and Aurelia were probably just grabbing a casual meal. After dating someone like Tessa, Gideon wouldn’t be interested in a woman like that.Â
The thought made Jasper feel better.Â
Still, sitting at the table with two finance experts, he could barely get a word in. He just listened as Cassian and Tessa discussed projects, risks, and future plans.Â
And in that moment, he felt even more certain–Cassian and Tessa were a perfect match. Someone like Aurelia could never measure up.Â
