This response shocked others, including Aurelia. 

At the same time, Aurelia felt relieved because she had seen this day coming.

She had foreseen the bad ending of her relationship with Cassian when he began to find faults with her for no 

reason. 

Calm, Aurelia said, “Alright, I will be there on time.” 

When Aurelia was far away, Jasper muttered with knitted eyebrows, “Seriously? Is she willing to leave?” 

‘I won’t buy the story, Jasper thought. 

“Cassian, I’ll go see you on Monday.” Jasper was determined to drive Aurelia away. 

“Suit yourself.” Cassian’s tone was so cold that nobody could tell anything from it. 

Aurelia left the party with much more than she had expected. The biggest surprise was Cassian’s approval of her resignation. 

In the latter part of the party, Aurelia let herself indulge in wine. She would get herself drunk if Gideon didn’t interfere. 

“Take some hangover relief when you are home; otherwise, you will have a bad headache tomorrow morning,” Gideon reminded Aurelia. 

“Got you. Gideon, did anyone tell you that you are long–winded?” Tipsy, Aurelia became a bit candid. 

“Pardon?” Gideon froze on the spot. 

“Ugh, I think I’m gonna puke,” Aurelia mumbled. 

Gideon was dumbfounded. To prevent Aurelia from becoming a laughingstock, he quickly helped her over to the restroom. “Be careful. Call me if you need anything.” 

It was inappropriate for him to go into the ladies‘ room. 

Aurelia didn’t throw up, perhaps because she had eaten some food at the insistence of Gideon. 

It was impolite to keep Gideon waiting, so Aurelia intended to leave after washing her face. At the doorway of the restroom, she overheard the conversation from the corridor. 

‘Tough luck. Jasper, that big mouth again!‘ she thought. 

“Tessa, relax. I will go to Honoria Capital on Money. I will make her quit even if she doesn’t want to. She won’t be a threat to you anymore. Honestly, don’t waste a single thought on her. She’s not in the same league as you,” Jasper said.

“She has been with Cassian for seven years.” Tessa sounded sad. “Such a long time that one can’t part with his pets, let alone his lover.” 

Jasper argued, “I disagree. Men are different from women. I believe that Cassian just sees Aurelia as a tool, a free one. Look, they have been together for years, but has Cassian spent a penny on her? 

“He bought her no houses. Even a canary needs a cage. In conclusion, Aurelia is just a free tool to Cassian. That is why I look down upon her.” 

Tessa sounded surprised. “Cassian… Did he never spend any money on Aurelia?” 

Jasper answered confidently, “Nope! Don’t people say that a man will spend money on his true love and his true love only? Doesn’t it prove that Cassian doesn’t take Aurelia to heart? Therefore, don’t waste your time on her. 

“Besides, she’s about to quit. Once she’s out of Honoria Capital, she and Cassian will never meet again, like two parallel lines. Just relax.” 

Tessa seemed convinced as she sounded a bit lively. “Let’s go find Cassian. It’s getting late.” 

Aurelia didn’t walk out of the restroom till she couldn’t hear Jasper’s and Tessa’s footsteps anymore. 

Seven years was such a long time. It was long enough for Aurelia to witness the change of a heart… 

Aurelia pressed her lips together, and her eyes slowly turned red. 

It took her quite a long time to regain her composure in the corridor. In the end, she exhaled a long breath with frustration. 

Gideon couldn’t drive Aurelia home because he still had his guests to entertain. He let his driver take Aurelia 

home. 

He repeatedly reminded the driver, “Get her home safely.” 

For fear that Aurelia might catch a chill, he draped his own jacket over her shoulders. 

When the driver left to get his car, Aurelia watched Cassian drive past her. 

Inside the well–lit car, Tessa was chatting with Cassian with stars in her eyes and a happy glow on her face. 

With his eyes slightly lowered, Cassian looked soft. 

When the car sped off, the cold wind whipped across Aurelia’s face. ‘How cold!‘ Aurelia thought. 

She pulled Gideon’s jacket a little closer, thinking to herself, ‘Sometimes, a jacket is more useful than men. At least, on a freezing night like this, a jacket can keep the cold away from me.’ 

The red wine had a strong delayed effect. When Aurelia arrived home, she felt dizzy. 

Leaning against her door, she battled with the lock for a long time before it finally gave in.

Good thing that she didn’t forget her key, or she would be locked out for the night. 

‘Cassian’s bad. If it weren’t for Cassian, I wouldn’t have changed my lock. It is troublesome to take the key everywhere, Aurelia thought. 

She felt thirsty because of the wine, but there wasn’t a single bottle of water left in the fridge. 

Aurelia always liked a cold drink after the wine. With no water at home, she had to order delivery. 

About ten minutes later, her doorbell rang. “That was quick, Aurelia thought to herself. 

Without hesitation, she went straight to the door and opened it. 

Shockingly, the comer wasn’t the deliverer, but Cassian. By instinct, Aurelia tried to close the door right away. 

As for Cassian, he quickly jammed the door open with his foot. 

Under the dim light from the corridor, his chest slightly heaved up and down. 

Aurelia asked, “What’s…” Before she finished her question, Cassian gripped her chin and gave her a kiss that wasn’t soft at all. 

She clearly sensed the alcohol in his mouth. ‘He must have drunk on behalf of Tessa at the party, she thought. 

Instantly, Aurelia became unhappy. She raised her hand and slapped Cassian across the face. The sound was crisp. 

Unfortunately, Aurelia became feeble under the influence of alcohol, so she failed to help Cassian sober up with the slap. Instead, her slap excited him. 

Cassian was domineering and aggressive as always. Tipsy, Aurelia was too weak to resist. 

Besides, Cassian didn’t give her a single second to catch her breath… 

That night, Cassian was nothing like his old self. 

Aurelia grabbed Cassian’s chin and gave it a hard bite. She didn’t relax till she heard Cassian suck in a sharp breath from the pain. 

In the end, Aurelia found herself utterly defenseless against Cassian. In strength, it was a far cry between women and men. 

Cassian rolled over and accidentally knocked a black velvet box off the nightstand. 

He snatched it up before it fell on Aurelia. It seemed new to him, so he asked with curiosity, “What’s this?” 

Aurelia emotionlessly pulled the box away, tossed it aside, slid her arms around his neck, and pressed her lips against his Adam’s apple. “How can you get distracted at a moment like this? Are you tired of me?” 

He was powerless against her charm, so all the thoughts about that box disappeared in an instant.

Aurelia turned her head and looked at the black velvet box in the corner with wet eyes. 

‘Cassian, never will you know what is inside that box, she thought.
